Whats your opinion-What happens when you die?
AveSatani
I think nothing happens. You just don't live anymore. You wont go to Hell/Paradise,and your spirit won't go to the skies.Or even ''live''as a ghost.I imagine is something like ''you can't see, hear, think, feel etc.''
Mr Ed
I have no idea, but I hope there is something.
Welsh Shaun
Hopefully reincarnation, then I would come back as a woman and have an easier life laugh.gif

Whats after death?

well...the answer to that question is after death. that is unless you're nothing. then you wouldn't know the question you asked in the first place. I think that for a question like this one, an answer is destined to be.

Personally. I think that everyone has a soul and the soul is undying. I have an analogy that our souls are like caterpillars. At first we're just a caterpillar. a baby, innocent and pure. Then the cocoon represents the flesh, our lost innocence and all aspects of our life and throughout our lives our soul is evolving within. I like to compare the moment of death to be like the moment a butterfly leaves it's cocoon.

you might find this link to be interesting even if you don't believe in that kinda stuff. Have a good one. original.gif

I think you should ask people who have had a NDE. They all have very strong faith in an afterlife regardless of what they believed before.
The book "Lessons from the Light" by Kenneth Ring is also very convincing. thumbsup.gif

I belive you have three options.
1 Move to a different plane.
2 Become a ghost.
3 Rencarnation. (my choice)
QuantumE
Whats it like after death? The same as it was before you were born.
Yelekiah
I'll go with reincarnation, if not getting your energy left behind (like a ghost). Just a personal opinion of mine.

I'll see you in the next life.

I'm thinking of going to Egypt, you?

You wake up.

grin2.gif That just sounded like a cool thing to say...
Tillghast
I think that the moment you die, you live as the same person you are now. When you live it over enough times, you will have deja vu. Well, thats my theory.

interesting

edit - I almost spelt it interesante. Darn you spanish class!

Going from books that are about Near Death Experiences, I beleive that our spirits leave our bodies and our energies can be sensed by some sensitive people. It seems to be a place full of love and peace. But one which we also have control of our own feelings and can go where we choose to go.

I imagine that ghosts are those energies who have no idea they are dead and without a body. How horrible would it be if no-one could see you... sad.gif

I could think of some fun things to do :-). As long as I could still move material objects.

When you die, I assume you go to Heaven, or Hell. Heaven is paradise, so I assume you need to decide what your paradise is. Maybe re-incarnation is an option for you, however, to be in a state of pure happiness for eternity is fine by me.

When you die, your brain cells disconnect, your heart stops, most of your cells die, and your nervous system shuts down. In other words, you, defined as a self-aware being, cease to exist.

become an optimist!
Yelekiah
I think he was just being matter-of-fact. And after you die, that is the case. But I like to think that there's a bit more to it. tongue.gif
butitorp
i think all of us will rest eternally, i think. when i mean REST, its R-E-S-T.

I beleive no matter how bad you are, you will still be in peace when you die.
Rainbow Rowan
From mediums, it appears that people's spirits are very much alive. And conscious, decision making, able to move around, remember, etc.

Wow, you're a smart one, aren't ya? tongue.gif Just kidding, but this is more philosophical than that.

I reckon you just wait in heaven, you know? Then when your friends die too, you hang with them.
Bio-Mage
Although we have some indication that part of our conciousness may persist, we cannot see this as evidence that there is an "afterlife". I think we just cease to exist, although I rather be wrong on that one tongue.gif
AveSatani
innocent.gif so,if you want to learn just go and suicide!!! innocent.gif
AveSatani
by my opinion,we all have got JUST 1 oportunity to live so just do the best you can while you are able!!!
Tillghast
But whats after that? Infinite blackness? You just are there in this room of infinite dark. I hope thats not it.
Megalomania
Yeah,

Chances are there's nothing, but it's nice to talk about it,

And I agree with AveSatani. If by any chance, ther is no afterlife, make the msot out of this one wink2.gif
Xenojjin
you turn into a ghost .

Our consciousness continues to exist, but in what state and for how long after death, who knows? If there is just nothingness you won't be aware of it anyway, so why let it bother you? But I have had a near-death experience, so has my husband, and I know better. There is more, but not a "punishment vs reward" scenerio. Evidence of the existence of consciousness beyond the physical body can be found in the NDE accounts of the congenital blind. (oh, cynics, notice I said "evidence" and not "proof"?)
BazookaTooth
Nothing
worms, maggots, earth, time and the weather will simply have their way with us,doesn't sound very nice but its reality.
shinyporpoise
To believe in nothing after death really doesn't bring 'happy or hopeful' thoughts, which is one of the reasons I refuse to believe in it. I suppose there is a Heaven, the Ultimate Cleansing of Sins, and Eternal Happiness.

But then again, our species is nothing special.
Just another animal to *monotonously* walk the Earth sleepy.gif...

I agree. A member of my family also had a NDE. He's very sure about life after death. thumbsup.gif

By the way. My native language is not English. What's the difference between proof and evidence?

You might come back as a tree and all your friends return as dogs.

Basically, there is no difference between proof and evidence. Usually evidence indicates something material, physical. They are generally inter-changeable.

Huh? There is a difference..
Bio-Mage
Evidence is not necessarily proof....
Hendrix
thing is with this question no one will ever no the answer
but I like to believe there is something
although if everyone does go to a place after they die it must have got pretty crowded over the millions of years
AveSatani
surely its not like the movie''the others''...that the dead people are still living but alive people are like ghosts to them etc...

AveSatani
so most of you believe in this something after death.what makes you believe it???

Bio-Mage
Evidence can be an indication pointing to a certain conclusion, however there is still room for that conclusion not be accurate.

Proof is undeniable evidence.
Guardsman Bass
I remain slightly skeptical of NDE's, especially when we have only one case that appears to prove it. We still don't know much about how the brain works, but we do know that changes in brain chemistry can lead to changes in personality, and people with two split halves actually develop two different personalities. That means that a soul, if one exists, either changes with your body, or is devoid of real personality.

I don't believe in souls or spirits though,I kinda think an afterlife would be a bad thing as you'd want what you had in the past, and if it was eternal that would be awful.
AveSatani
and what's that NDE???

It's possible that one needs a physical brain to interact with a physical world. Kind of like a relay switch box from the car battery to the engine. The only thing I don't get is if the brain is not recording eeg waves during an NDE (which has been proven to be so in a Dutch study), then how are these memories of the NDE stored and where?
