THE BLOOD - I wanted to share this with everyone... especially the Christians on UM.

Peace
~Nxt2Hvn

One night in a church service a young woman felt
the tug of God at her heart. She responded to God's
call and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

The young woman had a very rough past,
involving alcohol, drugs, and prostitution.
But, the change in her was evident.

As time went on she became a faithful member
of the church. She eventually became involved in
the ministry, teaching young children.

It was not very long until this faithful young woman
had caught the eye and heart of the pastor's son.

The relationship grew and they began to
make wedding plans.

This is when the problems began.

You see, about one half of the church did not think
that a woman with a past such as hers was suitable for a
pastor's son.

The church began to argue and fight about the matter.

So they decided to have a meeting.

As the people made their arguments and tensions
increased, the meeting was getting completely out of hand.

The young woman became very upset about all the
things being brought up about her past.

As she began to cry the pastor's son stood to speak.

He could not bear the pain it was causing his wife
to be. He began to speak and his statement was this:

"My fiancee's past is not what is on trial here.

What you are questioning is the ability of the
blood of Jesus to wash away sin.

Today you have put the blood of Jesus on trial.

So, does it wash away sin or not?"

The whole church began to weep as they realized
that they had been slandering the blood of the
Lord Jesus Christ.

Too often, even as Christians, we bring up the
past and use it as a weapon against our
brothers and sisters.

Forgiveness is a very foundational part of the
Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.

If the blood of Jesus does not cleanse
the other person completely then it cannot
cleanse us completely.

If that is the case, then we are all in a lot of trouble.

What can wash away my sins?
Nothing but the blood of Jesus! End of case!!!!

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall
sustain thee he shall never suffer the
righteous to be moved." ~Psalm 55:23

Thank you so much for the reminder. crying.gif

It sounds like every church that I have ever had anything to do with....the main reason that I will never be a Christian. There is a quickness to judge among them and very seldom do they do as in this little story and change their minds!
Beckys_Mom
That is very similar to a prayer my mom sent me because I was busy digging up the past with my sister instead of burying the past and looking to the future as living in the past only makes things worse and my anger towards my sister will never heal if I remained in the past!! blink.gif

So from reading her pray (very similar to the one posted) I fullly understood it and thought life is too short to use someones past as a weapon against them, my sister may have been very hurtful towards me back then but I finally let go of it and began to move onwards instead of going backwards, and from that things between her and I have gotten a lil bit better than before.

Thanks Nxt2Hvn for reminding me again that was a nice storey I am not a christian but I still understood!

That was a great story. People often like to judge. But the thing is our past is forgotten in the eyes of God. He doesn't remember so why should we dwell on it. The future we lead in our Christian lifestyles is what matters.

Thanks for the reminder, hvn. thumbsup.gif

I think I often forget that very important point, sometimes. crying.gif

Thank you for posting this. this was a wonderful story

This was a nice little christian story but shouldn't it be in the belief and religion forum? We are religious skeptics around here. I think the only thing us N/B's and N/C's see from this topic is that the religious haven't changed much over the years. They (most of them)still judge people first the way they always have.

that was beautiful! it made me cry original.gif i'm going to pass it on to my mother.

Exactly the point! As christians we are aware of the need to stop and look at the person, and see what god sees. We too as believers are often judged, and tarred with the same brush by many of those who post on this site, its not nice and its totally illogical.

Hmmm, good story. There are a few people who's past is like this at my church (three that I know of). One of them is the head leader at our youth group, yet when he was a youth, he was a gang member who hated everyone. Another one was also in gangs, dealing in illegal weapons and drugs. he is now training at bible college to go into fulltime ministry. The third is also one of the other co-leaders at youth group. he is me, and you can read his story in the testimony thread.

One would think that if Christians are so judgemental, they would not have a former gang member teach the youth of today how to live for Christ. One would think they would prevent a former gangmember dealing in weapons and who got shot on a number of occasions from studying at Bible college. One would think that a former drug user/alcoholic/vandal would be discouraged from teaching 14 year olds at Youth Group.

So..... to those of you who are judging Christians for judging others - sounds to me like you're generalizing juuuust a wee little bit.

I think that you dont have to be religious to read into the story and take a lesson from it.

Today churches will use anything to get people to come. They use these kinds of marketing techniques like bringing in the previously bad and turning them good. That doesn't always work though. Some members don't give anyone an opportunity to change. I may be generalizing but I'm not judging anyone, I will leave that to the many religious folk that still do. Not every religious person is judgemental but a lot of them are. The reason I am mentioning this is because that's what the story is about and that's what I got from it among other things.
Paranoid Android
Marketing ploy? They have these people leading the youth group because of a marketing strategy? And of course it has nothing to do with his ability to lead the youth group in any way (he is very good at it), or his love for Jesus (which, in our church is more important than required skills).

You guys will try and rationalize anything away, won't you!

We have very good teachers.

since this was posted on this particular forum, I must note the following:

1. You forgot the ending. "e-mail this story to ten friends right now and receive a blessing. if you don't e-mail it within 20 minutes, you will receive a curse."

2. The only thing that the blood of Yeshu washes away is logic and science. The only thing that brings repentance is asking YHVH for forgiveness. Human sacrifice was forbidden in the time of Abraham. Jesus has not one bit of power more than any other son of man. Only YHVH has that power.

"Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall
sustain thee he shall never suffer the
righteous to be moved." ~Psalm 55:23

The "Lord" is YHVH. My he bless you. May you abandon your idolatry and come to YHVH.

Gideon - I still find it funny that you post pro-Jewish propaganda, even while claiming to have no Jewish affiliation beyond that of heritage.

Don't worry though. We all still love ya wink2.gif
