Silent Night
Away in a Manger
Gloria!
O Holy Night
Noel.

More even, I just love em.

One you might not know is one I'm playing for my church Christmas Eve service, called "We are the Reason".

Verse 1:
As little children we would dream of Christmas morn,
and all the gifts and toys we knew we'd find
But we never realized a baby born one precious night
gave us the greatest gift of them all

Chorus:
We are the reason that he gave his life
We are the reason that he suffered and died
To a world that was lost he gave all he could give
To show us the reason to live

Verse 2:
As the years went by we learnt more about gifts,
of the giving of ourselves and what that means
on a dark and cloudy day, a man hung dying in the rain
because of love! Because of love

Chorus:
We are the reason that he gave his life
We are the reason Jesus suffered and died
To a world that was lost he gave all he could give
To show us the reason to live.

Bridge:
*key change* I've finally found a reason for living!
It's in giving
Every part of myself to him
In all that I do every word that I say
I'll be giving my all just for him. For Him and

We are the reason that he gave his life.
We are the reason Jesus suffered and died
To a world that was lost he gave all he could give to show us the reason to live.

He is my reason to live....

We are the reason that he gave his life.
We are the reason Jesus suffered and died.
To a world that was lost he gave all he could give.
To show us the reason to live.

I heard on the news a few days ago that in a recent survey of retail workers that they were more than twice as likely to be what they considered "short tempered and angry" when having to listen to 8 hours of xmas music while working. grin2.gif

I can understand that...

I've never been one for xmas music. I don't have particularly fond memories of christmas time, so the music doesn't hold any really positive emotions for me. I really dont like the really sappy, over the top happiness types of xmas music. It goes under the same topic as the "Forced Fun" of new years eve, where everyone HAS to have a super happy time whether they want to or not...

I guess if I had to choose it would be the older tunes made by Nat King Cole...very good singer...Older Xmas tunes are better.

Don't even get me started on christmas MUSAK. UGGGHHHH.

Not really looking for an explanation as to why...but...*look out, getting preachy*...if you invite Jesus into your heart it will have a definite meaning to you. original.gif

Oh Come All Ye Faithful

...joyful and triumphant...

...oh come ye, oh come ye to Bethlehem...
Daughter of the Nine Moons
Definately Santa Baby as sung by the incredible Eartha Kitt. Second choice would be Carol of the Bells

I wish it were so simple joc, but it isn't. I could send out engraved invitations all day long, but it wouldn't change a thing.

Working at a supermarket, I can relate. I love Christmas carols, but hearing the same dozen or so "classics" repeated every half hour means by the end of the day you've heard the same songs sixteen times. Anyone would go crazy with that, and this isn't even bringing in to account that most shopping centre carols are arranged in the most annoying way possible.

Suddenly It's Christmas (Loudon Wainwright III)

Copyright ©1993 Snowden Music, Inc.

Suddenly it's Christmas,
Right after Hallowe'en.
Forget about Thanksgiving;
It's just a buffet in between.
There's lights and tinsel in the windows;
They're stocking up the shelves;
Santa's slaving at the North Pole
In his sweatshop full of elves.

There's got to be a build-up
To the day that Christ was born:
The halls are decked with pumpkins
And the ears of Indian corn.
Dragging through the falling leaves
In a one-horse open sleigh,
Suddenly it's Christmas,
Seven weeks before the day.

Suddenly it's Christmas,
The longest holiday.
When they say "Season's Greetings"
They mean just what they say:
It's a season, it's a marathon,
Retail eternity.
It's not over till it's over
And you throw away the tree.

Outside it's positively balmy,
In the air nary a nip;
Suddenly it's Christmas,
Unbuttoned and unzipped.
Yes, they're working overtime,
Santa's little runts;
Christmas comes but once a year
And goes on for two months.

Christmas carols in December
And November, too;
It's no wonder we're depressed
When the whole thing is through.
Finally it's January;
Let's sing "Auld Lang Syne";
But here comes another heartache,
Shaped like a Valentine.

Suddenly it's Christmas,
The longest holiday.
The season is upon us;
A pox, it won't go away.
It's a season, it's a marathon,
Retail eternity.
It's not over till it's over
And you throw away the tree.

No, it's not over till it's over
And you throw away the tree;
It's still not over till it's over
And you throw away the tree.
