And, if you're interested, I have some awe-inspiring crystal clear recordings of the Airplane and the Grateful Dead soundchecking from the Fillmore, the Avalon, Winterland, et cetera, circa 1966-1969. One, in particular, has David Crosby, Garcia, Grace, Casady, and others running through some great tunes: "White Rabbit," "She Belongs to Me," "Hey Jude," "Morning Dew," "Hey Little One," "Mr. Tambourine Man," and a whole lot more.

w00t.gif Amazing!

White Rabbit is one of the greatest songs ever, IMO. happy.gif

Your thoughts?

Because painfully few girls have the pathience to learn an instrument (not an opinion, a statistic). Whenever I'm working in or with a band we never have a singer who can't play guitar or drums (rare, but really cool) at the same time.

So can any of you hip kids enlighten me as to what exactly a hollaback girl is, and why doesn't she want to be one? That song completely loses me when she starts spelling out banana. mellow.gif

I always thought it meant to call back someone (which it does where I live). But that's not entirely it. It's like someone who is "inferior".

Actually, the number of guys I know who play instruments well... a grand total of 6. The number of chicks? Half my year at school happy.gif

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Arch Enemy?? ohmy.gif
OK maybe it isn't singing but it is very different from the majority of female singers.

Well I am not American, but I think to holla means to shout, so I guess she is saying she isn't a girl who will (just?) shout back at people.

Eh, I wouldn't trust statistics that much, but I agree, that girls seem to be more voice-orientated, when it comes to music. Personally, I prefer a female voice over a male in most cases. The nightwish-chick has a great voice btw.
