Personal opinion . . . . don't bother. Brown is a formula writer, that is that his books all follow the same format. Angels and Demons starts out exactly as the Da Vinci Code with the same things happening to the same character. Nothing new in either book, just a rehash of interesting data that has been covered by authors far more expert and educated than Brown.

True but now it has been brought to the attention of the masses, so more people are questioning the authenticity of information that in the past they have taken for granted. Nothing wrong with that.

His book, "Digital Fortess" is really good if you like books about codes and numbers. It's very similar to the Davinci code in the aspect of the codes and numbers.. You might enjoy it.

I can say I've only read the DaVinci code and I enjoyed it. Regardless of where the information comes from if it is new or even just semi new to you it can be an easy pleasant read. And if by chance it gets you looking into other things then great if not same thing goes......

Dan Brown "borrowed" the basis of the DaVinci Code from several other books published in the early 80s. What makes the book fascinating is its plausibility, however, it is a work of fiction.

Good novel -- Bad history

So true, iaapac. I didn't expect Angels and Demons to be EXACTLY the same as Da Vinci Code. The stuff about the Vatican was the only thing of interest, and even then...Don't support lazy authors!

The book is excelent . Ive just read it a while ago, I found it very interesting , I couldnt leave while i was reading it so i read it in 3 days.It was insane. Many thigs in the book are fascinating.I dont want to reveal anything for those who are planning to read the book, but many things are true(like the number 1.618-ive done experiments cause ive never heard of it before the book) or at least plausible .

No one can say for sure what happened 2000 years ago! Thats what i think. Heck no one can say for sure what happened 300 years ago . History can be changed in many ways!
Who can proof that aliens didint help build the pyramids?

Bottom line: The book is a great read. Its interesting has a nice story and many facts! For me the Best Book of all times! I recomend it to everyone! original.gif

P.S. After the book I became great fan of secret, alternative History and secret societes religions symbolisim and encryption, and stuff like that. Thats how i first found this web site, so im new here and just like to say hi! tongue.gif .Great Forums too!

I believe that they are making a movie of the book. I might actually go see it. From what I gather, it's kind of a rehash of earlier ideas.

Once again, good story, bad history.

I'd have to agree in a way.
The Da Vinci code I have quickly leaved through, and I find it to be an interesting story based somewhat upon actual research done over many years by actual scholars. It rather hints at truths and makes a big controversy in the doing...all over a fictional story...

Try "The Bible Fraud", by Tony Bushby (2001, I believe). Therein, you'll find the actual research, raw and uncluttered by storytelling. This book is the real DaVinci Code...

well, seeing as how the fresco of the last supper began peeling before it was even finished, and there have been numerous restorations on it, i don't find it to be a very valuable clue. it is fact that the face of jesus is not the original one. who's to say that the others are?

but the main reason i don't believe in this "code" is that the early grail myths made no reference to a cup or chalice. the grail was just a stone. it was the quest that was important, and not the grail itself.

and to quote lord umbarger "good story, bad history"

very bad history.
