hello everyone,
some what new here. had an account and forgot it. Anyway i think that my mantra came to me one day when i started to gaze into a lava lamp. I started repeating it and i had just turned on the lamp and the lava started going to the top and melting. My intent was to make it heat up I am wondering if i start using that as my mantra when i meditate my house might burn down or something catch on fire, like that phrase is a heat affirmation or something i cant put into words that creates heat/fire.I am paranoid enough about my house catching on fire. Should i be worried? Should i use it as a mantra? I don't even know much about mantras, i need some help with the topic please?
I am reading a book on transcendental meditation and it is talking about paying a fee. It says you can only be trained in a TM center by a certified teacher. It says that if you do not go and get a mantra from one of the teachers and go ahead and use another mantra that it could have negative affects on you. What should i think? Does anyone here know anything about TM that they could tell me? Were you certified by a teacher? The whole thing sounds like a scam because anyone can meditate and you don't have to pay a fee to unlock your own brain power. I don't know much about the whole mantra topic or Transcendental Meditation, but i have been meditating on my own, i need some help please?

I suggest meditating on your own.If you get trained from a teacher or a book and it tells you how to meditate it might have worked on themselves but it might not work on you.So just try different ways of meditation until you find the one you like.

I'd be paranoid too to be honest. Think positive things. A hot bath as opposed to fire, for example.
Sanskrit mantras are pretty calming. I suggest you do them on your own. It may allow you to focus more.

Thats a good idea (hotbath). I dont even know what Sanskrit mantras are? I have no knowledge of mantras and need help finding one that is right for me. Does anyone know anything about mantras that they can teach me? The book I am reading makes it seem that you cant have one if you do not go to a TM center and have a teacher assign one to you, and if you use one that isnt special to you than it could have negative affects. Please help?

A lot of the sanskrit mantras I know of are prayers. There's a good CD called Mantrica. They have exotic instruments like sitars, mandalins, lutes. They even play some electric guitars. It's mellow and otherworldly.
There is this idiot in my neighborhood (aka my roommate) who mows the lawn at night as I'm trying to meditate. But I play this CD and I'm able to calm myself and focus.

lol that would be very disruptive. I will for sure look up the cd. I thought Mantras were a word or two that you repeated to yourself and would put you in a trance or or altered state to help you meditate.

PS. Is anyone starting a Astral Projection course on January 9 or 10? I am enrolled.

I thought Mantras were a word or two
They can be, like "om" (aum) the vibration of the universe. It means "I am". But there are longer mantras that can go on for pages. Good luck with it all.

You saw your ...mantra...in a lava lamp...???? And then you manipulate it to melt it (I assume with you vast mental powers)....to heat it up???
Mate you said it yourself. Mantra is not a soup to heat it up and unless your drop your hot lava lamp on the floor you wont catch fire either. Stop smoking pot and if I was you I would stay way off lva lamps until you are detoxified. Lava lamps are evil...
