One was a sacrifice to the Gods through blood. (Frequently a WILLING sacrifice!)
The other was a common punishment/torture/death sentence.
I don't think so.
First off the Maya and the Aztec practiced human sacrifice, both of willing and nonwilling individuals, the nonwilling were of course prisoners of war. The heart was usually removed (still beating) from the participants chest, typically by the head priest, and a large majority were male.
Crucifiction, of course the Romans used to dispatch of criminals. Usually the head is pointed towards the ground, which makes the crucification of Yeshua very unique indeed.
