Speaking with various people on this conspiracy board I have found a major factor to whether you believe what is being said here is a direct result of whether you trust the federal government or not to tell you the truth.
If you trust the government to tell you the truth, why?
If you do not trust the govenrment to tell you the truth, why?

Chose sometimes. Depends whos saying what, how, when, and why.
Kinda cliche-ish, but even the devil tells the truth sometimes, and I've known what I considered good people to lie for various reasons.

i voted: sometimes, but some corruption exist
I do believe that (in general) the U.S. government does tell us the truth. Yet I also believe that corruption and propaganda do exist within government agencies.
I do not necessarily feel that U.S. citizens are entitled to 100% absolute truth about everything. Many aspects of running the country and protecting us from harm surely require secrecy and/ or "lies" to allow us to function as we normally would without being concerned about every single activity and purpose of our government's activities. (e.g. The building of the atomic bomb.)
Secretly searching for terrorits, creating new weapons, and sting operations to cease illegal activity are examples of a few things I do think the government is entitled to keep "under wraps" while in pursuit of our best interests.
On a conspiracy level: the assassination of JFK, the existence of alien civilizations, the less than ideal excuses to go to war with Iraq, etc. are examples of lies that I do not believe fulfill a greater purpose other than keeping citizens in the dark and (to a certain degree) under control.

The only time they tell the truth is when it could benefit them, otherwise the truth goes out the window, and script writers spend a great deal of time figuring out how to lie to the public, or at minimum avoid telling the truth.

Short sweet and to the point; Conspiracies exist.

Too many lies already for me to trust anything any of them say completely. That's about 50 years of consciousness of the gov.

Thank you! Finally, someone with some sense! stacy274, look at some of these posts and you'll see words proclaiming American heritage and escaping religious persecution from England, but nothing about what was done to the Native Americans.

I chose no and the reason for this is that they are probably the biggest secret keepers in the world, they always try to kill off anybody that is leaking some of the truth into the public, and they have made weapons that have unbelievable powers and use those to affect our everyday lives no matter where you are in the world

You shouldve added another poll option there. Like classified and top-secret priorities for the defense of the country. They lie to safeguard our country not because there is some conspiracy

Beleive me if they wanted to keep something underwraps you wouldnt have a clue about it.
