So far a $20 gift card to a store, a book set for Dungeons and Dragons, and a $20 check from my grandparents which is going in a pool to buy something good for the whole family.
I'm hopefully getting new stuff for my drumset though, as the two 3" cracks in my crash cymbal and broken tom head are not good...

MY brother paid for my airfares down to Melbourne when I went last month. That was his Christmas/Birthday combined present to me.
His fiancee got me a real cute doggie bookmark. The dog has a white bushy santa beard and santa hat, which sticks out the top of my book looking all cute and cuddly, awwww

It's not this one, but it's the same brand. This was just the only pic I could find on the net for you. hope it's not too small for you.
Anyhow, they are the only ones in my family who celebrate Christmas, so that's all i got, unless you include the box of chockies my work gave me a week ago

I haven't gotten anything material (except for what I've gotten myself) but last night at midnight mass we all received a lovely gift.

A couple who go to church there had their daughter home from college. She's a music major and she sang O Holy Night for us. It was, straight up, the loveliest piece of singing I have ever heard. She has a beautiful, strong soprano and has obviously worked hard to train her voice. She sang, is it called vibralto (?), never missed a beat and hit every single note. It filled the church and made me think that must be how the angels sounded singing to the shepherds two thousand years ago and half a world away. She knew she'd done well and you could see the delight shining in her eyes and the glow of it reflected on everyone's faces.
I've not been baptised yet so I can't take communion, but usually I go to the rail and ask for a blessing. Last night I didn't bother because after her singing I felt truly blessed already.

I just wish I could share the experience with you all!
PS - Fluffy, I always think that a stocking full of candy and toys is nice, but the year has probably been wasted if you don't deserve at least *one* small lump of coal!

I was given the gift of being able to ride along with my fire department in what we call the "Santa Cruise".
On each of the fire engines is Santa, and a couple of helpers. Santa stands up in the back of the engine and waves to everyone in town. We drive up and down each street with lights and sirens and kids come out of their house to meet Santa. Santa hops down off of the engine; greets the kids and hands out candy canes to each of them. He does the typical Santa stuff; asks them if they have been good, takes pictures with them, gives them hugs...It is an incredible thing to see.
There were several kids that had a very bad year; fires, injuries, death in the family, and those kids get extra little gifts from Santa.
I live in a small town of about 5000 or so. We have 3 engines and 3 Santas going all evening long to be able to cover all of the town. It is an old tradition here and the young kids get a bick kick out of it, as do the adults. People look forward to it for months ahead of time.
It makes people incredibly happy. We had people sing carrols to us; give us cookies...
We had a few kids that really stuck with me. One little girl who was about 5 or so told her mom she had to make hot cocoa for Santa. She worked rally hard at it, and stood outside when she heard the sirens. When Santa got down to greet her she was just about in tears; she was so happy to meet Santa. He took a couple sips and told her it was his favorite drink ever and she just beamed with happiness...It was incredible.
We had another girl about the same age who saw Santa, and squeled and cried and jumped up and down she was so happy, it was obvious it was about the happiest she had ever been and that it was going to be a big memory.
After 6 hours of riding on the step board of an engine and hopping up and down to greet people I thought that I would be very tired, but it ended up being the most envigorating thing I have done.
The best gift I got was being able to make hundreds of people very happy.

Fluffybunny, you're the man.
I got new cymbals for my drumset, like I thought I would. It's strange, with more variety to a drumset, it makes you seem a lot better...
After playing drums for awhile, we went to visit my sister and her fiance who cooked a really good turkey. She just had surgery about a week ago (she's fine now), so we had to go to her house instead of her coming here, which is what usually happens.

My bro got me a Ren & Stimpy seasons 1 and 2 dvd set, which is cool. I also got some jeans and a few shirts. Also, I got a 50$ check from my grandparents. I got a few early presents a couple weeks ago, which were an MP4 player asd a DVD player/stereo system. They're pretty cool.
I made a list of things I would want for my mom when she went Christmas shopping though, and I didn't get 1 damn thing that I asked for on that list. She told me that she looked everywhere for them, but couldn't find them anywhere, which is a complete lie because I've seen them everywhere I go. What's worse, is that I don't even have enough money to buy anything I want for myself.

That's awesome

Don't let any person say different. I think O Holy Night performed proerly is one of the greatest carols. The only time I've heard it live was when three guys were doing a humorous rendition in false soprano......
And slightly off-topic, but there are churches out there that will let you take communion without being baptised. My church isn't supposed to (it's against the rules of the Anglican diocese), but we say different and only ask that the person taking communion believe in Jesus as Lord and Saviour. *shock

And FluffyBunny - that was an awesome story

Well Christmas is the only time it's nice to have parents that are divorced. Wait, I think that sounded bad. But I get gifts from seperate families, so it's pretty cool in that aspect. I got a new accoustic guitar that I have been wanting for a long time. I got a new digital camera that is pretty sweet. I got some new lamps for my apartment, some clothes, lots of movies, and last but certainly not least I got to see and spend time with my brother. Haven't seen him in almost 3 years and it was great to spend some time with him. So I will end all the materialism with some goodness! hehe. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas.
