before christianism my country had other religions, some remains of them are really weird, the most weird of them all, I think, it is the blood ones, for example we used to have lots of blood recipes, but nowadays only 3 are used (and no, you cant find them on restaurants), I only know 2 of them, but the one that I know better is the blood cake, it's a round ball shaped cake that is preapared under a very old recipe, as the name says it is made with blood (and a lot of other ingredients that are kinda of secret).
Other weird things is that in this time of the year, in some parts of the country people have octopus as a christmas dinner, also some villages do a fire in the center of the village, I think it has to do with the winter solstice or something.

anyway, I would like to hear any weird things about your country culture, I'm pretty sure that my country isn't the only crazy one... or not.

Oh yeah, before any one starts thinking that I'm a vamp or some other weird things I would like to denote that the blood used in those recipes isn't human (as if it wasn't obvious, but, who knows, some might think it was)

Well... a great deal of people in my country still today practice Ritual Cannibalism. It happens weekly, mainly every sunday. As in the Christian church, handing out the body of christ and the blood of christ.

OH yeah, that also happens in my country, those weirdos ritual followers, I bet they stick candles in innocent cakes and do a weird chanting in the day they are were born...

"scotty doesn't know"

Yes, the chanting is truly disturbing.

The Scottish still eat a blood pudding, called Black Pudding which is pigs blood.

Gross - I have not tried it even though my Dad eats it... blink.gif

So does everyone I thought?
Well in England it comes with full English breakfast and I have had it in America before.

On the blood side of things, Vietnamese Pho (beef noodle soup) is sometimes served with a cube of congealed cows blood. It's absolutely tasteless, and I see no point in it being there. Oh, the Pho can also have intestine bits and pieces floating in it.

In America, there's this really weird custom where you have to tip everyone. I just don't understand that.

In Australia..... hmm, I don't know what's weird. I guess to me, it's normal. I guess we have a strange greeting where we say "how you doing, good!". As if we are already anticipating the answer. Doesn't leave much room for them to say, yeah, well I actually feel rather s***house to tell you the truth.

Not a tradition, but in England there is an active law that states any male over 12 years of age must have a minimum 2 hours of archery training a week.

No one can beat my country's weirdness.

We circumcise our males when their 8 days old, and intoxicate them so they won't feel any pain (oouch!).

We eat unleavened bread for three weeks around April (oh and we can't drink beer or eat certain food in this holiday as well).

We have a holiday when it's a religious obligation to get so drunk you can't tell between your allies and foes (and not doing so is sinful).

We have a holiday when we build a temporary dwelling place and should live in it for ten days, under the starts (even in cities).

We celebrate the New Year of trees (yes, that's right, TREES!).

We celebrate New Year's Eve around September (probably the alcohol still affecting from that other holiday tongue.gif).

And least but not last, we have a one-day holiday each weekend, called "Sabbath", when one should refrain from any work whatsoever (aren't we just lazy?).

What a bunch of weirdos, eh? rolleyes.gif

Well, in America, every 25th of December, we sit around a dead tree in our underwear and eat candy out of our socks. hmm.gif

Coming to think of it, I have this strange ritual where I wake up early on a weekday morning, put on my least favourite clothes and spend 8 hours in a place that I don't like being in. They compensate me for this by providing me with my living allowances, but still, it is strange, you know yes.gif

On the serious side, we celebrate the birth of the Queen of England, funnily enough held on the same day every year, regardless of when the current queen is born. A little silly, no!
