Books on dinosaurs are extremely numerous. What I'm looking for are books on some of the other animals that appeared in the geological record: the ancient mammals, birds, sea reptiles, pterosaurs, etc.
I'm not loooking for the ones that are general and give only a few of the various species, but the ones that give more and better descriptions of a lot of the species.
I figure this is the place to ask for help.

I just got a neat little book for Christmas called Dinosaurs from Allosaurus to Tyrannosaurus by Gerrie McCall. It gives you a brief rundown on a lot of creatures. It's small (7" x 5"), but 320 pages, first pubilshed in 2005, color illustrations of all creatures. Has brief descriptions of creatures from the Cambrian to the Quadernary; 1 page per creature. Maybe it'll help, I don't know, but it does have PICTURES!!!
