I tried to post on another forum but no one could really give me a clear answer.. maybe some of yall could give me some advice here is my delemma (i cut and pasted my original post)....
i am not sure if the poster is stricken by delusions or not, or if there is someone spying on him. Since there seems to be no physical evidence other than what the poster believes i cant really say..I am going through a similar situation as the poster right now but i do believe I have evidence that something of the same sort is occuring( being spied on watched with camera etc). I am wondering if anyone has some advice because its really strange and im trying to figure out what the heck is going on..
I moved into a 1 bedroom walk up apartment with my gf about a year and a half ago. About halfway through my stay here we came home and there were two flowers on our bed. It was really weird and i was thinking to myself did we bring those in the house? did it come from my pocket and fall on the bed? i went through every thought in my head for hours...and concluded that someone came into the apartment and put them there..for what reason i dont know.We called the landloard and police and changed the deadbolt..I concluded that whoever came in has the keys but it was weird how they didnt take anything..
two days ago this person struck again we left on Christmas eve to get something to east for about 45 min
when we came back our cat was in the bathroom hiding looking mad as heck and thought that it was weird..but then we went to open our presents we only had about 5 to open but one of the presents was MISSING. We had seen the prestns together with the other presents just an hour before but now it was gone..I knew this person struck again.. I sometimes forget to put the deadbolt on and yup this person came when we werent expecting it..I have no idea what this person wants is obvious not my material possesions..the person seems to know when we are leaving and for how long etc..i have looked for camera adio devices but with no luck. Im thinking it is not someone I ever knew before living here and there are only 5 or six people that it could really be...all within the apt. complex
they are the only ones i think that could come in quickly without being seen and who could have gotten a key to my apt. from the previous tenants. Also it would be really hard for them to know we left without some sort of device..i.e. what if a friend of ours or my mother came over when they werent watching us and was in the apt..when we left..we dont have many visitors come over but it is possible and im sure that this person knows that.. My main quetion is if anyone who has studied these kind of people has any insight on what this person is getting at? capable of? does this person want to see my reaction on a hidden camera/audio? Does this person use a camera to know when we left the apt? this is really bothering me..i know i am basically insignificant just like yall have been telling the poster but that makes it even more troubling..

just for a clarification of my previous comment i posted the person did take one present from me, but compared to all the other things i have in the apt: mp3 player, portable DVD (right in the vicinity the presents) it is obvious the person does not care about what they can steal. The taking of only one present? is that just him trying to prove a point or just let me know that he/she came in again? and show me that he/she is capable of much more and is only doing small things for NOW. I mean im not really totally fearful of this person but its obvious that he/she is not normal..it will be really weird though if i find out that it is one of my neighbors beacuse i practically see them everyday(though i dont really KNOW them, i say hi and all that)..might set up a camera of my own but what good will that do if they come when i least expect..

Well, I don't know why anyone would be spying on you, but if you believe someone is entering your apartment, and it sounds like they are, there are some simple things you can do to try to figure out what's going on.
Is it carpeted in front of the door? If it's not, then you could make a habit, when you leave, of sprinkling flour or sand behind you on the floor. (Of course, you're going to wind up cleaning the floor a lot

) That would at least tell you definitely if someone had been there. As far as a cameral, that sounds farfetched to me, but a couple years ago I was staying in a hotel with a friend who's a former cop. We were at a convention, but hadn't gotten a room at the convention hotel and were down the road at a pretty run down hotel. The first thing she did when we checked in was stuff toilet paper in the (many) holes in the wall and look for anything suspicious behind the pictures and such. I suppose it wouldn't hurt anything for you to look.
Sorry I don't have more advice. I don't know what to tell you. Good luck!

get in touch with local law enforcement or get private investigators to check out if you really have surveillance equipment installed at your place.

hay...thanks for the advice..just lookin for some intelligent folks to drop some knowledge on what might be happening.and or this persons motives!.i know like you said camera is farfetched..if not a camera i know this person is pretty dang smart. he/she might not be watching me DAILY but just might be when he wants to strike..im pretty sure though that this person keeps tabs on my schedule(when im coming going)..during the flower incident i was off from work the whole day on a week day (rare) but i had to pick my gf up a little early about 4:00 instead of 5:30. yet this person still seemd to know when to come in and put the flowers on the bed during a short 25 minute window of time..i would love to catch this person in the act..i have now made sure that I have locked the deadlock..now i know he/she can't get in..but will this frustrate this person (they cannot get in now, i doubt they will break a window)? should i watch my car now more carefully for a breakin? its just a puzzler

here's a tip. When you go out, place a strip of paper as you close the door. see if it's in place or have fallen off while you are away

who's present was took?, dont wanna do a scare, but first thing that popped into my head was some sort of stalker. if i were you I'd be sure to put on the deadbolt everytime i left, just to feel safer. also, before you leave, put a single hair across the side of the door across to the door frame, go across it with a wet finger to make sure it sticks. when you come back, check to see if its broken (if it fell off, could be due to it not being stuck on to well), if its broken someone obvisually went in or tried to.
or, before you leave, place a note in large letters saying "I know" or something, just to scare the guy or girl whos going into you room. or get a motion detecter, like on a pc - via webcam. if you keep your pc running and also that motion detecter going, and if they enter again, you may find out who it is. but keep the camera hidden and pointing at the door.
hope it will all stop soon.

actually it was my present not my GF but the thing is 4/5 of the presents there were mine not hers.and hers did not have a name on it, most of hers were still in the car.so the person may have not have wanted to waste time scanning the presents (or could not find one that was hers). Actually i have a reason to believe this person only came in twice in the past 1 1/2 years. Maybe they came more but i dont think he/she came MANY times. As for the stalking thing i didnt mention it but my gf seems to think that a few articles of clothing she has cant be found.. she dosent know where they are. i did not add that to my post beacuse im not 100% sure its true but i think she might be right. Its almost like the terrorist attacks they strike when i dont even expect it making it hard to actually set up a "trap". Actually Since the deadbolt will be on now i think they wont be coming in now. BUT what will this person do next? What is their state of mind? its obvious they want to play with her/my mind wants us to think..just because they cant get in the apt dosent specifically mean they wont do something again..

Sometimes the simplest answer is always the right one. If, as you say it is a walk in apartment, who else holds the key? Did you have to give an extra key to the landlord? Or a friend? Sometimes friends have crushes that go a little too far! Maybe another person in your apartment complex is a little strange and watches for you to leave! If you’re really worried get a bugler alarm fitted. I know if I thought someone was coming into my home the first thing I would have done is fitted an alarm. Doesn’t have to be expensive, just loud! Or just a small hidden camera, or motion sensor video camera, that will come on when someone is in your home!
Or (if you think you have hidden cameras!) get a small metal or wire detector that you use to see if there’s pipes behind walls, run it all over the place, if its electronic it has metal in it! And you find the hidden device.

I agree 100%. First off figure out who has a key to your apartment. Second find out if the locks were changed from the previous tenant before you moved in.
I would say trust your instincts if you feel someone is entering your apartment. If moving is not an option, then you might want to consider putting an additional lock on the door that no one else has the key for.
I had a landlord who used to enter my apartment when I was away. It was creepy and I didn't stay there long after I found out he was doing that.

You can try also putting a hidden camera on the outside of your room apartment and have a door alarm that you can get at any ace store or hardware store and place it on your door just in case at night your asleep. That way if you hear the alarm go off when the door is opening you can then look at the monitor to see who it is. That way you catch him by picture.

sorry to be blunt but...
call the cops...
at least something will be on file IF something happens...and if you don't/haven't yet - it kinda seems like your enjoying this in some odd way...
OR
this could be a case of paranoia

Try the police again, if that deos not work, have you gf take off while you wait in the bath room or something.. and if all else fails, get a bug detector. do a through job, check the phone, the tv, the lights, use the old tooth pick in the door trick, call the police again, and if that fails, move, don't need that feeling hanging over you anyhow.

I bet there is a camera there...
watching you...
every move...
logging it...
a deep stalking...
run?
hide?
scream?

Call the cops.

thanks for all the suggestions...The thing is im not really totally "frightened" by this person..just wondering if anyone has insights or a "profile" from past experience , Tv shows (court tv etc), some one who worked or has family in law enforcement etc. On what this persons getting at?even if you arent sure your opinion would be very helpful. I mean, just drop anything even bad scenarios wont scare me. I at this point im just a bit pissed that i know that this person came into my apt multiple times with some abnormal agenda that i dont understand..i seem to have suspitions (and a main suspect lol)on a few people just trying to figure who might best fit the description. and yeah i called the cops but nothing through them has led to anything just yet.

like I said previously...
it's almost like your digging it
you can ask all the advice you want around here but unless you actually do something, nothing will be resolved in this matter

Yes i am diggin it on a certain level..just as a detective might "dig" what he is doing although i dont "love" what is happening in this instance. If this person is enjoying what he is doing... Is it wrong for me to pose ?'s... that will make me enjoy catching him. In my mind i think so.cause i have now gotten some ideas on what i can phyically do to stop him :police, lock doors other "traps" etc..now id love to catch him instead of saying woe is me "I hate this" "what a bad person to do this to me" etc..i just dont want to play the victim role though thats what this person wants..just trying to be proactive in all the ways i can

It's most likely your land lord. He's probably the only one with a key to your apartment and access to put a camera in your home.
