HAWAII, Dec. 29, 2005 — Rachel Cambra couldn't wait to see the look on her 14-year-old son's face when he opened a very special present on Christmas morning.

The Mililani, Hawaii, woman had saved up to surprise her son with what he wanted most for the holiday, a new Apple iPod with video.

The New Apple iMeat?

"He went from joy, really happy joyful," she said, "then to discover this, just angry and hurt."

Cambra says the box was sealed and that it didn't appear to have been tampered with when she brought it home from the Honolulu Wal-Mart where she works.

She says she had put the iPod on layaway so that she could afford the device's hefty $300 price tag.

"I know what I went through to get this for him," said an incensed Cambra. "To open up and find this? I don't know what to say."

"This" appeared to be some kind of sealed fish or meat product, certainly not a state-of-the-art MP3 player.

Dan Fogleman, a spokesman for Wal-Mart, said it did appear that the package was sealed and has contacted Apple about the matter.

He says Cambra will be given a new iPod for her son from the very next shipment the store receives.

No one from Apple was available for comment.

Misplaced their lunch and found an iPod, I'm sure they're not complaining. tongue.gif

This is the kind of thing that I always thought could only happen to me! Maybe I'm related to the girl somehow?

lol! That certainly would not be a welcome surprise for a kid on christmas day but then again worse could happen.

Maybe she did it intentionally? You know...buy an expensive item, return it saying something is wrong and get it replaced for free.

Okay that sounds off...let me explain.

My friend and I did something like this...only different...lol...we were this creative. We had our PS2 for about a year and all of a sudden it stopped working, so we got the idea of going to buy a new one, which we did. We got it home and got the idea of hey...if we cleaned the old one up and took it back we could either get our money back or get a new one...lol. We decided to just replace it since asking for the cash back might raise a few eyebrows...so now we had our PS2 (fixed for free...lol) and a spare for the price of 1.

Now back to the lady...how did the store know it was factory sealed if her son found meat inside? They would have to take her word for it...besides why would a mother lie? innocent.gif So now in a sense she could get 2 iPods for the price of 1.

Just a thought thumbsup.gif

Wait and Apple had no comment?

Could it be that iPods are made from people?!

Just a thought...

people can get away with that all the time....the store CAN'T accuse their customer of anything like replacing the item or breaking it cuz then the store can get in trouble. they don't want to end up losing their customer or getting in trouble with their corporate.

no.gif i don't like how people cheat this way tho.

lol. I sure wouldn't like to find meat instead of an Ipod that I buy. Someone at the company had to have put meat in the box. There was probably no other way that the meat got in there.
