Woman weds dolphin - Tel Aviv, Israel
December 30, 2005
British tourist Sharon Tendler has finally made her dream match - by "marrying" a dolphin she has been visiting for 15 years in the Israeli resort of Eilat, the mass-circulation Yediot Ahronot daily reported today.
Ms Tendler, 41, has been visiting the city on the Gulf of Aqaba two or three times a year to spend time with her 35-year-old underwater sweetheart.
"The peace and tranquility under water, and his love, would calm me down," the Israeli daily quoted her as saying.
Last week, Ms Tendler finally plucked up the courage to ask the dolphin's trainer for the mammal's fin in marriage.
The wedding took place on Wednesday, with the bride - wearing a white dress and watched by amazed spectators - walking down the dock to where the groom was waiting in the water.
She kissed him, to the cheers of the spectators and then, after the ceremony was sealed with some mackerels, was tossed into the water so she could swim away with her new husband.
"I'm the happiest girl on earth," the bride was quoted as saying.
"I made a dream come true. And I am not a pervert."

Who's dream? And why does she need to defend herself against being a pervert? I can't see anything in the article accusing her...

No, now that is just wrong!
When she dies and is buried at sea, (I predict that'll be her next "dream"), I bet the dolphins eat her!

One more happy (human) male who has escaped wedding a deranged woman.
And how exactly did they ascertain that the dolphin was willing to marry this woman???

Maybe the dolphin was the most intelligent male she could attract
Actually that just brings up more questions... Maybe the dolphin was a particularly unintelligent one?

She has got to be a member of PETA. Like on "SouthPark" where they're all married to animals LOL!

Isn't this..... like Illegal?

Animal cruelty I'd put it under. I read a British news story ages ago where a man had "relations" with his farm animals and was arrested...
Oh and... UK people out there... Who remembers Mark and Lard's Radio1 show with the "goat incident"? ::giggling:: Do a search on one of the mp3 download programs out there, that might bring results.

There was a guy on the West Coast of the U.S. who was kicked to death by a horse while doing that.

Pay backs are hell. They should of commendated the horse.

Isn't marriage between a man and a woman? Is the dolphin going to get some kind of pension or does she get some kind of tax break for this? Does this make the dolphin an English citizen or the woman Israeli?
I'm not even going near morality/ethics issues on this one. Are gay marriages allowed there at least as well?

Well on the bright side, their wedding registry was through Walmart; She wanted the silverware set on aisle 4 and he wanted a case of sardines from aisle 19...

On the other hand....given the sad state of humanity these days, a dolphin might not be such a bad thing......better than a shark for instance....

Dolphins are very intelligent species and there are stories out there that many have been known to be sexually attracted to humans. So the dolphin could infact be aware of the relationship.
I read of a male human having a relationship with a dolphin with a female dolphin this is the first time I read of a female human and a male dolphin.

I really wanted to reply to this, to make some clever observation or draw some useful, practical moral or lesson from it - but all I can think of are lame one-liners, like "Original Fin" and "...but the groom jumped THROUGH the wedding ring". Some thing just break the brain. And here all this time I thought it would be tentacled abominations that plunge between the stars - but its just the parents of Deep Ones.

Strange if you ask me, but the thoughts and desires of women can never truly be understood and put into common language... if you ask me! If she thinks it's the right thing to do, go for it. I'll never meet her, and if I did, I might like her, and I might invite her over, but I'll be damned if the lucky husband gets my rugs soggy.
Just my 2 cents.

I think its hilarious people have a serious problem with men marrying eachother but really don't mind or have any laws against a woman and a dolphin doing it.
And I don't think she's in love...she's either an attention seeker or psychologically f***ed up.

Hi I am new here. I love this site. I am curious, do you have a source for this dolphin story? (Sorry if I missed it)

I wonder if the clincher was the fact that humans and dolphins are the only species which have intercourse for pleasure? I think she misinterpreted that information for the two species doing it together....
