I had been hearing so much about Gmail for a while now. I figured I might as well try it. So I'm wondering if there is someone that is nice enough to send me an invite.
poisonous_python01@hotmail.comThanks

It's an email account that gives you unlimited storage. I had an account and can't remember my user name. If I get it figured out I'll send the invites.

Not exactly unlimited, but more than you could ever use, anyways.

I wouldn't recommend using Gmail. Google saves all emails in a databank, just like they do with every web search made. I guess this is done so they can improve their services by knowing certain user information (making searches easier, etc.) but, I have no idea why they would need to save our emails based on this same fact.
Basically, with the "Freedom of Information Act", the government (or whomever) could gain access to this information (just incase you thought of sending anything incriminating, I would advise against this). Although the chances of ever being blackmailed, or having your emails used against you in a court of law (or any other way) is slim, I would still advise against using this service.
For all I know, other email services might do this and we are unaware of it. I'd rather be on the safe side and never send anything incriminating anyways.
Just thought everyone should know this. Maybe I'm being too paranoid.

There's no need to be paranoid. Hundreds of companies use this method. People seem to think that all SpyWare is malicious, when that isn't the case. It scans your emails and picks up key words which are then used to contact appropriate advertisement companies who send you advertisements via email. It helps them help me, and it pays for the service, so I'm in full support of it. Plus all the advertisements I get emailed get sorted in to the Spam folder, so it isn't a bother either.

Well in my opinion G-mail is much better than Hot Mail. I used to miss e-mails and have to keep deleting them to make space. With G-mail I think I get all my e-mail and I also have a 1GB storage limit which is fairly large.

Gmail is my favorite. And by the way, you don't have to archive anything. You can either save it or delete it.

Couldn't be bothered changing to gmail. I changed to hotmail about six months ago and it took forever for people to finally start using my new address. I don't want to go through the same thing again.
Besides, as long as I make sure to keep one eye on my junk mail folder, 250Mb is plenty of space for emails.

Zero,
The point I was trying to make was, They archive your emails whether you want them to or not. Seriously. I seen a segment on the news about this about a week or two ago. The authors of two books about Google were warning users about this function.
I am pretty sure that most email services do not save emails in a database. This is obviously an issue. I wouldn't want my private emails being saved by anyone.

Every online email provider saves your emails on their servers (if they didnt theyd be sued to death if an error occured), the problem with gmail is that google doesnt or didnt have a clear data retention policy.
They give information regarding privacy issues here

Why would those people on the news single out google when it comes to saving emails? They made it sound like it was something nobody else does.
Hmmm

Because google is the in thing, look at any tech news site if a google employee so much as breathes its front page. If an author complained about microsoft its been done, if they complained about yahoo 10 people might listen and buy the books if the author complains about google 1000 people listen and buy the books.
Also a lot of the negative press comes seems to come from this guy and his site www.google-watch.org
and just to prove the internet has nearly everything. www.google-watch-watch.org
Of course google brought a lot of this on themselves by being less than crystal clear in their terms.
