A mother in Dallas is one of several parents complaining about a new interactive book for toddlers in which Sesame Street character Elmo asks "who wants to die?" according to a Local 6 News report.

However, when the book's buttons are pressed, it reportedly says something it is not supposed to -- "who wants to die?"

"It's a sick joke," mother Angela Bolls said. "If it's a joke then it's a bad one, you know? And it's not necessary. It's inappropriate."

Bolls said she checked another copy of the same book and found that it says something completely different; "Who wants to try to go potty?"

The company that makes the book said it has had several complaints concerning the book, according to the report.

But I'm sure there was no intention by the company to upset customers. They probably upset some employee.

Yeah. I had a friend who had one of the rude Teletubbies (remember them?) and kept it when the company recalled them. I seem to remember that it went up in value very quickly.

did it have elmo's voice i would think that most likely it was built in china or taiwan, I don't see how an employee who probably don't speak english did that.

If it has the voice of elmo then it had to be deliberately recorded, by the guy who does the voice.

That can be very easily manipulated though...this brings to mind the episod of The Simpsons with the evil Krusty doll....

It's in Elmo's voice, but I think it's just a corrupted version of what it's supposed to say ('Who wants to try to go potty?'). Cut out the last three words, and you get 'Who wants to try---'. Elmo saying 'try' can sound like 'die'. Still, not a nice thing for anyone, let alone a little kid, to hear. Although, I doubt any little kid would really know what it means.

Well, "Who wants to go try and potty" is a crappy (pun definitely intended) phrase...That's a stupid thing for a kid's toy to say...

The phrase is 'Who wants to try to go potty?', and I think it's intended as some sort of potty training gimmick.
