i was continuing my game of DMC today on normal mode and damn is it hard to beat the first fight with with Virgil on that mode! i always get hit by him when he appears behind me.

RE4 was always gonne be starring Leon. So it wouldn't have been Dante.
Think about it for a second though, look at leon in Re4, and look at Dante, there is actually quite a startling resemblance there!

haha i doubt it. I'm guessing the locations and such would have been in the new RE game, but they decided to turn it into what we know was DMC. RE4 was scraped early in production afterall.

i hate when you hear about games from a big series being scrapped. they should release these games later on, or director cuts of all these games with a huge amount of new stuff. like RE 1.5 would have been better than RE2 is now. they should think about releasing that. that would kick ass

i fianlly got DMC3. My bro got it for me for my bday. im only to the third mission so far, and all i have to say is WOW! it is an amazing game. its actualy very challenging, unlike 2. the gameplay is fun as hell. there is a wide variety of combos to learn and buy. you can also switch between fighting styles, which are also very neat. they each come with different special moves. and the coolest thing is, EVERYTHING is upgradeable. your swords, your guns, your combos, your fighting styles, etc. the bosses are so freakin cool. the first one is suprisingly hard to beat. im only to the 2nd boss,s which is a giant 3 headed dog half frozen in ice. that is one fantastic boss fight, althought it killed me. so anyways, pick this game up. its wicked bad-ass!

also, could a mod please move this to the Game section. this thread must have been overlooked before.

I've not played ninja gaiden but from what I've heard the style is quite similar, basically if you like one you'll probably like the other.

the game just keeps gertting more and more challenging, way more than i expected. im already stuck on just mission 4. it took me several tries just to beat that damn Dog boss thing, which was extrememly hard. i was tired after beating him. now i can get up to a giant centipede boss thing, but that keeps killing me over and over again.

update: i just slaughtered that big ass centipede! man that was an intense fight! this is by far one of the best games next to RE4 that i have played in a long time.

has anyone else played 3 yet? i take back what i said in my last post. this game is far from fun. sure, its fun when it starts out when the game is actualy possible. but when you get to the 5th level boss, thats when the game becomes literally physically impossible. there is no way in hell to beat it! if anyone has ever beaten it, then you must be gods, because that is the hardest, least fun, and most unfair boss fight ever.

You mean the two swords? Yeah, I beat them (however I did it in the Japanese version in Normal difficulty, the Hard difficulty in the Japanese version is the Normal difficulty in the American version. Whatever...)

This battle is really hard. I took over an hour to beat them. First of all, I recommend Trickster style. Second, you can see they're really good at blocking your attacks, so aim at them and start attacking them. They'll block your attacks. When they raise their swords, it's because they're ready to attack. Dodge them (that's why I said aim at them), and use the mili-second you have to attack them.
One of the keys in the fight is knowing where the two guys are, so don't attack at one of them if you can't see where the other one is (rotate the camera with the right analog stick).
When one of them sets on fire or wind his sword, be extra careful, cuz they do a lot more damage and they'll do a special attack sooner or later, so keep an eye on them.
Also, when the two of them run towards one side of the room, go to the opposite side and start shooting them with Ebony & Ivory. When you see the first one of them is gonna jump, stop shooting and roll twice (once for the first guy and the second one for the other dude).
If you can, try to make them attack each other. Bonus damage! Though is not easy.
When you see one of them drops the sword and falls to his knees, go ASAP to them and kick their ass. You're gonna damage him a LOT.
Finally, when you kill one of them, a sequence will appear where the other dude alive will pick his brother's sword and start fighting with both of them. Be careful, cuz then the battle is gonna get REALLY hard. To avoid this, I lower the health of both of them so when you kill the first dude you don't have to hit the other one so much to end the fight. Yeah, you'll have to deal with them the whole fight, but it's worth it. So, if you see one of them is badly hurt and the other one is only at the beggining of his life bar, stop focusing on the hurt one and start hitting the other dude.


This battle is very hard, but you'll eventualy win. Enjoy the prize! The swords you'll get after this fight are SWEET (they actually became my weapon of choice).

thanks for the tips dude! ive been looking at online guides for a strategy. i found 2 good ones. one of them said to use Cerebus for this fight, especially for the fire guy (obviously), and to always use the Revolver or Windmill attacks on it. it also said when one of them raises its sword to attack you that you should attack it with one of those attacks and it will do more damage to it and possibly disarm it for the moment. im having trouble just getting near these guys without getting my ass kicked. im gona have to try a more direct approach to killing this boss by using melee attacks instead of standing from afar and using E&I. ill beat it eventually. thanks again tho.

p.s.-i havent been on MSN because its asking me for an upgrade or else i cant get on, and the upgrade would take over an hour to complete, so i cant use MSN. ill try upgrading it later.

I haven't played DMC3 yet sadly, i own the first but was put off by the second. I'll get around to it shortly.

I am slightly disapointed with a copla dmc3 elements so far- eg- the weapon NIVEN which is essentialy an electric guitar...

I don't agree. I thought DMC 2 was great.

It had a couple of good move, like the wall-running and the cool move Dante used for dodging attacks, but you can't beat DMC3's "Free Ride"

DMC3 is far FAR greater than 2, and so is 1. i havent gotten the guitar weapon, but it looks totally cool. the Cerebus weapon is really friggin awsome. its spinning attacks are sweet and pretty powerful. last time i played i was still stuck on that boss as i mentioned awhile ago, and they have the next weapon you get, which i really want to use.

Normally I go with Cerberus and then either Rebellion or Agni and Rudri

Guns- Ebony and Ivory and the rifle thing

i like E&I cuz they are long range and fast. i will ususally use the shot gun for close range and extremely strong enemies and close range boss fights.

Let's see, for style I always use Gunslinger.

In weapons I always use E&I and Kali-Ann (the rocket launcher) in the guns department and Agni&Rudra and Cerberus in the swords department (I usually use Beowulf in some stages)

Finished DMC3 on normal mode, so if any1 wants any tips...lol.
btw, there's an awesome cheat to unlock EVERYTHING when u first start the game, but beware it does kinda ruin things cos u get infinate devil trigger straight away!
Heaven and hell mode is super fun, u can do about 10 levels in 10 mins, jst gotta try it on hard and dante must die. Has any1 managed it?

im gonna start my game back up this weekend. in DMC3 , im still stuck on the 2 guys with the swords. but i havent tried playing in a long time.

u must finish it, its gr8! for the two guys with the swords, equip cerberus and use windmill to damage them. Try to damage them both equally, cos if u don't the other one powers up and u hav to fight him with double strength!
i found that if u go back to mission 1 u can level up really quickly, makes it much easier when u've got all the moves

yeah i tried that a few times. just to get enough orbs to buy a few health items tho.

well worth doin, but if u can't be bothered @ start screen enter L1, L2, R1, R2 and rotate the left stick until u hear a voice sayin 'devil may cry'. This unlocks all the bonus stuff, including galleries and trailers - shows stunt sequences and stuff. u can get infinate DT from here and all the other bonus costumes!

i just tried the boss again. i honestly dont know how ANYONE can beat that. i barely took away any health from the damn guys. i actually got the sword out of one of their hands and when i was attacking him, the other bastard slaughtered me. the fight is extremely unfair. i think it really does make the game less fun.

R u using 'Trickster' mode? If ur not then u haven't got a hope!!!
U hav to focus on one (usually the blue one first), then jump to dodge his attacks. Always pummel them from a distance with E&I (handguns) and remeber, when both of them go to one end of the room they r about to do 'ground pound'. Jst keep rolling when they do this, or use dash (circle and R1). when they go to the end of the room u hav about 3 secs to fill em with lead - make the most of it.
If ur really havin probs buy some holy water to knock their health down a bit.
Also, outside the boss room, u can smash the objects by the divinity statue to gain a few more orbs.

i know about smashin the items to get more orbs. i just tried the boss AGAIN and still no preveil. although, i did do a lot better. i got the blue guys health down to more than half way. but a lot of the trouble comes from the crappy camera angles. you cant turn it or see what theyre about to do so you have no clue how to dodge them. and i HATE having to restart the entire level over again. it seems like it takes forever to get back to the boss and makes me want to play even less. theres no point i buying yellow orbs for this boss because i use all my health items during the first fight. i just hate this boss so much. its a horrible and unfair fight. maybe if they made it just a little easier, to a level where its actually possible to beat it.

K. Try the cheat. U can beat them SO easily with infinite DT. But if u don't wanna do that i'm afraid the only way to go is orb farming on level 1.
first time i played it i had unbelievable trouble with cerberus, but was determined not to do the thing on easy mode.
My advice is level up a bit, cos i know how annoying it is when stuff keeps killing u! Agni and Rudra aren't that bad if ur quick and remember not to rush them - it's better not to take damage than to giv it
Helm breaker with Rebellion is also quite good for whaming on them when they drop their swords, also, if u stay at the end nearest the door where u came in its a whole lot easier to keep the camera angle straight. Not sure about this, but usually on DMC3 u can use right analogue stick to rotate camera - tho not sure if it works during boss fights.
Buying blue orbs to max out ur vitality guage is also a good idea
