Professional golfer Wade Ormsby thought he would never swing his stolen matched clubs again - until the alleged thieves landed in the rough by offering to sell them to his father's golf shop.

Police arrested three men on Sunday after they tried to exchange the unique $7400 clubs for cash at Pete's Golf, the Adelaide store owned by Peter Ormsby

The clubs, distinct in their markings and in a bag emblazoned with the golfer's name were taken from the player's Adelaide home last week while he was interstate.

He was told of the phone offer to sell the clubs by Pete's Golf manager Shane Hodby just minutes after finishing a practice round with a spare set a t Royal Adelaide Golf CLub on Sunday.

I was happy to give them $300 and move on, but the police wanted to catch them," Ormsby said.......

.... His nickname, "Orms" is stamped on the wedges.
