I'm sure a lot of people here are familiar with the recent return of NASA's StarDust spacecraft from its voyage to collect particals from a comet. The goal of the mission was to study the space particals (which are literally the building blocks of the universe) in hopes of unlocking the universes secrets.

However, there are so many of these tiny particals to look through, that NASA needs our help in order to look through all of them in a resonable time. Clicking the link at the bottom of this post will bring you to the official StarDust website where you can register and receive images of these particals once NASA officially starts the research. You must look through these images and find a piece of interstellar dust. As an incentive, NASA will let you name the any piece of interstellar dust that you find

Please help NASA.

what if you name it something degrading to NASA, or an obscenity, or a controversial phrase? technically since you discovered it, you Do get to name it right?

Edit: i was just wondering, it's not like i'm gonna do it or something. i actually like nasa and the whole space program, save the star wars style laser beam and etc.

Interesting... Too bad I have not the time nor attention span for a project of this magnitude sad.gif .

Thanks for the link, will interesting to see if this pans out.

That was the one I saw on the news recently.. parts of Oregon, Neveda, California I think, could have seen it come in around 2:15am in the morning on the 15th. They were asking if people could either take pictures and or video of it as it came in..

I live too far north here to have seen it, not to mention, it's always overcast here this time of year. I would have loved to see it though. I've not really heard anything more on it since.

Thank you for the link. I signed up and looking forward to trying to help.

Well, I might as well give it a go. If its legit?
Dead_Man_Inc
Yea, it's 100% legit. NASA is just waiting to gather up all the particals, take snapshots of them at the molecular level, and for enough people to register to help out.

How long does it take for them to email you back? I've been waiting 2-3 days now. hmm.gif

grin2.gif Well I might be interested in intergalactic particles, especially if I could crack them open and look for bacterial spores. As for particals, though---sounds like an urban myth to me! wiggle.gif
