Birdy! Birdy! I can fly, and say "TWEET TWEET!!!"

Then I could be a rare birdy and annoy people to death by staying on their property and never shutting up, then it would be illeagal for them to shoot me! laugh.gif

Or a carrot... I could be on the bugs bunny show.
Insight
If one could actually be reincarnated, I believe I would become the most powerful man in the world. I would dominate mankind with an iron fist, preying on the week and elderly, and feeding small children to my pit of hounds.

Either that, or I would be a bunny rabbit.

SHWING!

Why would anybody not be satisfied with their current form of being? I wish I could live as myself for eternity...

Remember, Reincarnating into something that does not have a human brain will make the experience of reincarnating useless and dull. You guys are actually wishing to go down the reincarnation ladder.
If you reincarnated as a bear you can not philosophize about the life of a bear until you are human.  tongue.gif

After being the third smartest race of critters on this planet it would be fun to just hang around as a dumb wild animal for awhile.

No I dont need to wake up. And I am perfectly fine. In the 21st Century Humans will probably be more likely to die of an accident than die of disease. But you dont have to take my word for it. You will witness it

Fantastic Voyage : Live Long Enough to Live Forever
by Ray Kurzweil, Terry Grossman

Check that book out.

anyway I should explain why and give a few examples. I hope you read.

Advances in

Biotechnology
Nanotechnology
Robotics
Stem cell research
and more

are going to extend the human life span in the 21st century. For many of us young people, dont think you're are going to retire at the same age as your parents and grandparents are/did

We may be the last generation to die, or the first immortals. Breakthroughs are happening everyday in science that will make us closer to understand aging processes. We are going to live much more healthier and stronger lives. We will be well and fit more than any other generation.
.

Life extention with the use of nanotechnology

I will tell you about a few things that are going on around the world right now that will help us live longer.

- nano red blood cells

Stores of 100x more oxygen per cell. By just replacing 10% of your blood with these you would be able to hold your breath for 5 hours. You would be able to run 300 meters without breathing. There is more examples. you can read on the net.

- Nanobots

Wow science fiction hu? well yes they are still, But dont worry many people are putting a lot of money into this research and a lot of advances happen every year to make it happen. These will go around the body and repair damaged DNA and repair genetic faults and kill anything that shouldnt be in your body.

- nano particle CLUSTER BOMBS

Use for 1 of the biggest killers, LUNG CANCER. Advances in targeted elimination of cancer cells is the way forward and will elimate lung cancer. Some trials in humans will go ahead in 05 I believe. They are smart cluster bombs that is inhaled with an asthma device. Once the cluster bombs attach to the cancerous cells, they destroy them. Im not sure if they produce localized damage tho.

What will they do?

They will be able to target bad cells and destroy them, they will be smart and work through your blood stream picking off the bad guys, repairing genetic/DNA faults while we live our life. This is more future stuff, around 20 years + away.

Early applications to help you, your family and friends live longer in the next 5-10 years!!!

What will these technologies do for us in the short term?

Well First we have Diagnostic chips, these will at first be very simple. They will diagnose illnesses such as the flu. If you are about to get the flu within a few hours this biochip will detect the virus and warn you on your PDA or watever we use then.

it will detect chemical changes in the body and warn of an imminent heart attack before you have it, so it will give you time to act. around 2-3 years away from commercial use.

More advanced ones will find genetic faults, diagnose most cancers before they are even a problem. These are estimated to be around 5-10 years away because of price. speed and performance of chips.

So these will help you live longer untill we have the Life extention thearapys available in the next 20 - 30 years.

Then you might ask, but science has promised eternal life for the past few hundred years, whats the difference now?

The difference is, we now have a greater understanding of human species, right down to the molecular level, which previous generations didnt understand. We are beggining to unravel the mysteries of the human genome, we are beggining to understand the Core problems behind disease and not just wait untill they appear. With this kind of science the possibilies are limitless for the future.

For the first time in human history, we now control our own eveloution, we have taken over the amazing achievment mother nature has achieved for billions of years.

Sure these things look promising, but we dont know if they will truely make our generation immortal or not. Its a bit too soon to start making bets that we'll be immortal.
whoa182
There will also be a lot of Genetic enhancements, Mabey super strength, Better eye sight, better hearing, Faster at running the possibilities are limitless.

Stem cell research is also holding great promise. People that are paralyzed will soon be able to walk within the next 10 years scientists say.

A Very exciting treatment was tried the other week. Human stem cells were implanted into MICE. They were at first paraylized. Within a few weeks they were running around perfectly fine. Human trials within 12 months. THey need to do more tests they say, because they dont want a toe nail growing out of somepersons brain lol.

There was another promising result with a man with a diseased heart, he couldnt do anything! I believe, He was part of stem cell trials. he had them injected into him, within 2 months he is now playing golf n stuff, something he hasnt been able to do for a long time.

There is A lot going on.

Aging is a disease, it must be stopped and it probably will. Im guessing most of you know that by switching off a few genes in MICE made them live equivelent to 500 human years?

Scientists expects to be able to stop and reverse aging in mice within 5-10 years. Shortly after Humans

Try reading about these advances and study them before you make assumptions that its all BS

I never said I assume its all BS, I actually do believe that this stuff holds the key to counter the aging process... but again, you seem to be getting your hopes too high. Reversing the aging process in mice within 5-10 years? Sure, it sure is possible, if nothing goes wrong.... but there are lots of things that can go wrong. Not only might they get blocked and wont be able to stop the aging process, they might not be able to control it at all... or when they manage to control it, they might end up causing more damage to other parts of the mice. Then you've got to worry about the anti aging being affordable for you before you die, and its gotta be available to the public first.

You see, now I'm worried again about being reactivated to go to war when I'm 472 years old and risking my life cuz I've got military training when I was 17, while everyone else around me lives a nice peaceful life to the age of 1000. laugh.gif
