I'm wondering- and I don't know if this has been asked before- could astral projection account for a majority of strange paranormal phenomena we encounter today? Extra Terrestrial beings, ghosts, and maybe some of the cryptids?

I know what you mean. When I first read this thread, I could not stop. I had to do research and read as much as possible on astral projection. I did find some sites that say negative things about it, but the "positive" sites make up the majority of Astral Projection sites. As for me astral projecting, I have not attempted it yet.

I read one of the Astral Dynamics sites, and I was wondering what everyone thought of this. I am not sure if this was already conveyed in the thread:

In the Astral Plane, you start to see things that your conscious accepts as making sense. To avoid this you have to keep full concentration on where you are and your intent for being there. In anyone's experience, does this apply? Does this apply for everyone? Is the Astral Plane made up of pure thoughts, or is it more complicated than that, just like people have described in t his thread.
mr. smart guy
very interesting question huh.gif which i dont have the answer to, but yeah it was hard to stop reading this thread lol and yeah i havent really tried to do it really hard yet sleepy.gif

You may experience one or more of the following sensations:

- Floating
- Sinking
- Vibrations
- A bright white/blue light
- A rushing or popping sound
- Starnge noises; someone calling your name
- A jolt

If you experience one or more of these sensations for the first time, it may be frightening. But know that they are positive signs; signs that let you know you're about to project.
Almost always, apon feeling a strange sensation, the person trying to project gets such a fright that he/she is jolted back into their body. If this happens to you, allow yourself to fall asleep and try again the next night, knowing presently that there is nothing to fear.

Well,if someone mistook those^ sensations, then they could very well accout for alien sightings and other phenomena. In fact, when someone claims to have been abducted, they say that they see a bright light.

randyman1986, i think i use the same method to project as you (projecting off sp). i use to get into sp almost everyday but since i finished school, i've been stress free so i havn't been able to get into sp and try and to astral project in quite a while. keep up the good work projecting and everyone else. thumbsup.gif

I haven't read all 77 pages either -- but the opening statement caught my attention because I, too, once thought that astral travel was complete New Age crap. I'm a scientific, skeptic -- but then I decided it was not scientific to automatically reject an idea without personally investigating it. Anyway, astral projection -- which I mostly believe to be a form of lucid dreaming -- is about the most fun I have ever had in my life. As to the exact nature of the phenomenon, I'm still undecided and still exploring.

Here's some of my experience:

I use another method to enter sleep paralysis I just trick my body into falling asleep I just find a comfortable position an let my mind drift off and enter a trance then a lucid dream and then I find my self raising out of my body but the key is relaxation and concentration now I'm trying to find out how to move once I make it out before my physical body pulls me back in.

I've not read all the pages - in fact, I have only read the first post - so this is in response to that.
That is really, really cool. I have no idea whether I think astral projection is real or all in someone's mind but either way, the experience would be amazing. I'm going to get right on trying the 4o'clock method next weekend. Thank you for sharing this with us!!!

I decided that before even thinking about trying Astral Projecting (I want to know if it in fact exists, and from the many responses to this thread, I do believe that you do accomplish something when you astral travel), I want to master Lucid Dreaming. I read in this thread that AP and Lucid Dreaming are both connected in some ways. Can anyone explain how?
Randyman1986
In away they are I become aware in my dream once I and jumped with the intention of that I was going to float and I did then I said "Oh my God I think I made it" and what I mean by made it is the Astral Plane this dream was 8 months ago and it was a park setting.

Aster I said I think i made it I felt this pulling sensation and in an instant I was warped back into my room and back into me body with sleep paralysis and buzzing noises.

HEy I just got the net and i just started thinking about astral travel.I heard of it when i was 18, listening to Art Bell on the radio. I kept trying to astral travel. Once i did watch my body float away from me and i freaked and went shooting back.Another time i was trying to sleep not astral travel and i remeber saying to myself.why is it foggy ,then i heard what sounded like a train rushing by my head. I know astral travel is real and it has been 5 years since i last tried. Tonite i will try again. I will let you all know about my progress.

Ok well I have tried the "Four in the morning technique" a few times now and I don't think it is working...I just end up not being able to consintrate and fall asleep.

I would like to try a different method if anyone has one...a simple and easy one.

I'm trying to AP to see if it is real as described or if it something else...I keep an open mind while trying to do it but I can't 100% believe in it.

So far the 4am one is the easist I've seen. But I've never tryed it.

you believe in it once you succeed, sp is a great way to project. your fully conscious, body can't move, but ethereal body can, just focus on your conscious/ethereal body moving upwards.

Great method. I have had it happen to me in a similar manner, though I haven't set out to do it. I usually hear a loud rushing noise, see a very bright light, feel great, then I find my breathing will distract me and bring me back to my waking consciousness. Here's an interesting novel in which astral traveling is a central element...

What a interesting thread. I see myself in much that has been written. I remember reading about Astro projection as a very young girl and finding it amazing. Often I have these strange sensations as I am falling asleep. They vary... sometimes I will feel like I am very lightheaded. Sometimes I will find myself extremely frightened and jolted awake but not before a queer sensation of someone coming after me happens. There have been times I heard a loud voice say something. Other times where I felt like I was punched in the face with an air blast. One time I awoke from one of these jumped out of bed and passed out. It is hard for me to distinquish if this is due to spirit leaving the body or some trauma coming back to haunt me. I think it may be a combination of both... as the experiences are deversified. I remember about 3 years back I worked for a chinese man and woman. The man was one of those Chi people and had come up with a new form of chi. They had invited me to his chi classes in which I went. During one of these classes, I felt I was rising and immediately stopped. There is a part of me that longs for these experiences, there is a part of me that protects myself from them. It is weird. Gonna have to think about trying your method. Thanks for the insightful post.

My cousin showed me this thread. I was explaining to him for about 7 years now I have had sleep paralysis. I didn't even know the term for it until he told me he read about it here. The only thing that happens to me on a regular basis is that I am feeling like I am dreaming and awake at the same time but I cannot move. I sometimes see things but more often I hear people talking. Sometimes its a lot of people or sometimes its one person. I've never been out of my body so to speak and I've never thought more about it than just a weird dream when im so tired I couldnt move until I've read some on this site. Now that I know there could be more to it I am going to check into it. Thanks for all the knowledge and anymore insight that comes.

hey,
i have tried to astral project for two nights in a row. I listen to a tape that was made for astral projection. both times, after about 15 minutes of relaxing, i got extreme vibrations for about 30-40 seconds, and my heart started beating really fast, and then it ended. Is this normal? what should i do while i feel the vibrations? Also, while i am relaxing, sometimes my muscles randomly twitch, especially my right arm.

That's all normal. Stay relaxed and focused, and eventually you'll get through the vibrations and leave your body.

I have had great results with astral projection before. I'm sure that most people can find success through various methods. It is crucial to be centered in breathing and your physical state should be as relaxed as possible to the point where you become totally unaware of yourself. The times I have had success with AP were after having a "good time" with my man...... well an excellent time really. This really works for me. I'm not sure that it would work for everyone but maybe some people will find it useful.

In response to your post, I recently read on a wiccan website that when witches from the times of the salem witch trials would AP (not actually fly on brooms) they would use a poison under their arms and various other places to give them a euphoric state. It was also said that they used the poison (AKA flying potions) on the handles of brooms, and have sex with their brooms. (some believe this is where the witches flying on brooms comes from) They were thought to be able to AP very easily using their flying potions and being in a euphoric state.

That is really fascinating. I think that one of the key elements for my AP is to be in a euphoric/post euphoric state...although not in the same way as the witches you described. lol

LMAO and what a joke it was. BUT...just because your wives didn't get up to write something down...doesn't mean that all women are like your wives my dear. In reading and studying books on dreams, wicca, psychic abilities etc, they all recomend that you write down any experiences immediately. Even comics will wake up after having a great dream..giving them an idea for an act...and write that down. So, I'm just saying that it's not as far fetched an idea as you're trying to make it out to be. *MUAH* lots of love...and no offense..just great possibility of a friendly debate.

last week, at around 4am, i woke up then suddnely thought about giving OBE a try.so i positioned myself comfortably and began to feel bit drowsy. ph34r.gif the next thing i know( im not sure how long it was before i dozed off), i was looking at myself from above the cieling. or so i thought. the next second i was in a total strange room with my classmates from high school, seeing them still in school uniforn. now let me tell you that i am aware that im having those visions, i thought to myself that was funny because we all had graduated from high school more than 10yrs ago. so i thought to give it another try. i thought about going to my boyfriends house, and for what it seems like a split second, i was there, in his room. i saw him asleep wearing white tshirt and a pink short. now i said to myself, wait a minute, he doenst have pink shorts. so i thought while i was having those visions that, this is just maybe a dream. so wheni woke up, i texted my bf asking what he was wearing. i was kinda frustrated to know that he was wearing a gray tshirt.
the visions were funny because of the details. i went to his parents room and saw two beds in there when the truth is there is only one. darn it, i said to myself. just when i thought i had it!! crying.gif

can anybody give me another technique so i can give it a try, please guys. innocent.gif

Well, you don't have to try to AP when it's 4:00.You can try it at any time you want actually but it just seems easier when your more drowsy.
It also seems easier if you imagine if their is a magnet above you tugging and pulling your spirit out of your body.

Socrates, thank you for sharing this method. Last night I happened to try it. I hadn't planned on it, so I didn't set a alarm or anything. I went to bed late around 1 am. Woke up about 5 am not feeling well. After taking some milk, I went back to bed. I thought about what you explained, and said this would be a good time as any. I did as you stated, within minutes I felt the shaking and weird sensation of feeling light. A image of a tv came to me, or me to it. It was so real, but I know on another level that I was projecting. No clarity or anything, just a TV type thing. I remember moving through it, and then darkness. Thanks I plan on trying it again, and again in hopes of understandcing where it is I can go. grin2.gif

Can someone please help me? I have tried astral projecting 5 times, and each time i got less of the signs you get before you project. Last night, i couldnt even get the vibrations that i had been getting. I know i am getting better at concentrating and relaxing, because the first time i tried i let my mind wander but still got vibrations for almost a minute.

Also, does it matter what position you are in when you try? when i am laying on my back my right arm constantly twitches and contracts and pulls me out of my concentration. what should i do?

This is correct. Not only is it better to astral project while drowsy after sleeping a few hours, but 4.00 in the morning is actually the point at which the human body reaches the lowest point of the metabolism cycle. (On an irrelevant note, this is why 4.00 in the morning is usually the chosen time in which police raid homes.) This 'lull' in the body's physical productivity tends to assist in astral projection.

Well done, you experienced typical symptoms of a projection. By the sounds of it, the experience lacked full clarity, but this will come with practise.

The best advice I can offer is to relax. Astral Projection will not come if you attempt to force yourself out of body. Do not strain. Do not become frustrated. Know that each time you attempt, regardless of the results, you are getting closer to your goal. Heed this advice and you will succeed.

I'll be hanging around for a while - any more questions welcome.

Welcome back Socrates, long time see I have a question how do I move once I get out of my body into the Astral Plane I felt my go out and went to the ceiling I said that I wanted to go out side but before I could finish my sentence my body reeled me back in every time I make it out now my body always end up pulling me back in because I cannot move away from it.

I have a question. . . I'm not sure if this is the same thing but when speaking with entitys such as your spirit guide and angels, do you have to project in order to do this. I have a coach who talks to her angels and arch angels but i don't think she goes into any type of lusid state to do so.
I've never tried projecting out of my body, i may read up on it and try sometime.

You can just call this my opinion, or what I've heard, but this may possibly bring something to mind. Lucid Dreaming is apparently another way to meet your spirit guide. Then again, since dreams take place in your mind, this guide may not be anything more than a dream character created by your mind.

Astral Projection takes you to the Astral Plane, where it is said many types of entities, including your spirit guide, are located. I don't know much about the different planes though, which is why I'm attempting to read more on it original.gif

I'll be hanging around for a while - any more questions welcome.

hi socrates,

can you please give me another technique for OBE?

i have read a book for AP, ENKANKAR, it was mentioned there that you have to control your salty food intake, that way you have better chances or can easily project, how true is this?

Hello, my mom has been astral projecting for a while she says, and I wanted to confirm one of her experiences, she said that everything in the astral plane looks a little bit "shinier" like plated with gold, is this true?

I would like to know if thats true too..

I've felt vibrations before but I think it was due to sleep deprivation. XD
Anyway there was this one time where I was really sleepy but I wanted to be awake so I focused on the wall. Then I felt my eyes close and go black, I remember thinking "I want to see the wall". That's when I saw the wall, but my eyes were closed! Also I can't see things very well and sometimes they tend to be blurry but I saw the wall vividly! It was like wearing glasses and watching HDTV. Then I felt myself sinking and I started to panic and open my eyes. But damn I was still sleepy and tried focusing again. This time I saw another portion of the room even though I was still in bed and purple wallpaper(?). It happend about 5 times till I got tired of it and decided to really sleep.

Hey again Travisimo, original.gif

Interesting question!

You cannot project with your eyes open at will. Some people have spontaneous projections - they find themselves out of their bodies during their waking lives, eyes open and all. But these are extremely rare.

Unless, of course, you were able to induce a trance state at will. While in a trance, some people are able to keep their eyes open. Thus, you could project while in a trance, but this would require extensive practise.

I can do this acually. I always have, when ever I get bord I just leave until someone snaps me back. I'll be eating, I just start to stare and boom, im in a memory from when I was two or as far back as 3 months old. I know this cause my vision at that time was black white and grey. Not sure if this is totally Asteral, I call it Time Tripping. But I will try your technique tonight. I am excited and motivated by your teachings on this subject. I bend a spoon yesterday with 8 seconds of meditation and wrapped the spoon 5 times into tiny knots. Tonight I m going to try to Stretch it... Ill give you the results of the projection tomarrow..
