Heh i dont think lying on your back will help you lucid dream thats only better if you try to AP

or thats what people say.. but i agree lucid dreams is probably the easiest way to AP! one technique for remembering dreams from that AP course thing is when you wake up in the morning you lie still dont move at all because then you will be 100% relaxed and your astral body will be more loose from your physical, have you ever remembered a dream when you wake up? but you forget it after maybe an hour? thats because when you wake up your astral body is loose and closer to where the dream took place so if you dont move at all and try to remember the last image you saw from your dream.. then try to see what happened before that and before that until you remember the whole dream, i use this technique and its working, im remembering dreams a lot more now then i did bofore

you should try this out, only thing is that it`s hard not to move when you wake up

Thanks, i'll try that.

well first thing that got to my mind when i woke up today was that you could find out stuff about your previous lives through AP! im not sure but maybe this could be someone i saw in a previous life? any thoughts?

Yeah, I've heard they have some meaning to them. It's good though because people who you forgot about will be remembered, unless you didn't want to remember them.
I've decided to listen to music for while in bed and then focus better with AP afterwards so I can clear my mind a bit, then focus. It's been working so far. But I have so much on my mind lately so it's not too easy. Once my exams end then it should be easier, but it's not like I'm worried or anything.

I think i had a dream like that before...it really got to me. But i think the most annoying dream is when i first see myself dreaming, then i jump

off a cliff next too a waterfall. Then i wake up in the middle of the fall and feel really grumpy and tired.
Attempting to AP has become a daily practice to me. I tried to AP this afternoon, and i got to the point where i got the vibrations, but only in my hands

. When i feel the vibrations in my hands, it feels like my astral hands start moving up slowly and then my arms start moving up. Then my mom yells at me to mow the lawn or something

...so i lose it.

i still dont get a lot of chances to AP but im still trying to remember my dreams better...
AND MY DREAMS ARE GETTING WEIRDER NOW! i had this dream last night.. it was some kind of weird place we found like.. a town or something.. and it was people and houses around but it was supposed to be some kind of ancient civilization i think, anyway it felt like a real place... i cant remember the name of that place.. but i know i heard it sometime in the dream, i did not ever want to wake up from that dream.. i did not know it was a dream but i never wanted to leave that place.... and the weird part is that i woke up 3 in the middle of the day and i still tried to sleep more to get back to that place... yeah 3:30 right now.. i missed school and everything! is there a slightly possibility that it could in some way have been a real place or the astral plane or anything like that? cuz i would really like to go back someday... even if it was just a dream

oh and i just recalled the feeling of moving really fast before i woke up... i was riding a motorcycle back to get my camera at home i think.. (in the dream) before i woke up... did not move at all when i woke up just lied there saw my clock at 3 and tried to sleep more... scary thing is.. i never got to see the way to that place... i started dreaming when i was driving towards it.. and when i was returning (same path) i woke up.... is this weird?

hey,
now i've been reading through almost the entire thread, and I have tried astral projecting 3 nights in a row now, but without success. However, there is one thing I have been wondering about, I sent this in a PM to Socrates, but as he seems gone right now I figured I'd post it here...
First of all, is it possible to go forward in time when astral travelling, or somehow tell the future? Some weeks ago I had a really strange "dream". I was at the library eating my lunch while reading the online newspaper, and there I read that a woman in the mid-30s had been killed cause a car hit her, where the car was being chased by the police. In my dream this was somewhere between 2-3 PM(I can remember from the clock on the computer), and I read that it happened early in the morning, around 8 AM. This may seem like I'm having a good time lying, but its actually true. The next day when I woke up I did not remember the dream immediatly, but when I saw the news later that day, and that a woman in the mid-30s had been hit by a car (later she died) which was being chased by the police I remembered the whole dream. The strange thing was though, that the incident happened between 2 and 3 PM, the same time that I was dreaming that I read the newspaper...
that kinda freaked me out, and I have no idea how it could have happened. anyone know something I don't?

Hmm well.. u can go around being aware of you being conscious.. just go around and think "im here" and "im awake" and really look around you and feel your awake, if you do this a lot u get used to it and if that happens you might just do it in a dream and realize that your not really conscious witch of course makes it a lucid dream.. im not doing this tho as i always forget lol
about that place in my "dream" i will try and go there again if i get the chance of lucid dreaming.. i felt there was something special about that dream.. well anyway good luck trying to lucid dream

Just a quickie question.........
My boyfriend lives miles away and we dont see each othr very often. If astral projection worked for me could i go and watch him sleeping?
I wouldnt be spying on him - just wanting to feel close.
Also would he know i was there? would he be able to see me if he woke up or feel me near?
I find all this facsinating and would save me a few pounds on airfares

Well you could probably go watch him while he was sleeping it would not attract evil entities if you dont have evil thoughts about it in the first place!
i dont think its possible for him to know your there if hes not projecting too.. he might recall dreaming about you tho if you are near him when he sleeps

To see your boyfriend in real life while projecting is to etheric project not astral project.
but to see your bf while he is dreaming you can meet him by astral projecting. you can then confirm later with him if he met u in his dream.

i hear of people flying to space and flying around cities and walking through walls. There is a libary called the 'Akashic records' where everyone can access. This has records of all your memories and you can access your past through it but only yours, so if you have forgotten something or just want to enjoy a memory you can go there.
i don't think you can astral project to the future, it be some other form but not astral projecting. if you can see the future through ur dreams that simply means your Psychic, tho i don't believe in Psychic because of the insufficient evidence i do believe in astral projection because i've done it
it is true the laws of physics don't apply in astral projecting. when i was projected i was weightless.

Heh... I wanna watch my man while he slept

So I could watch him get undressed
Im still having trouble projecting though... I JUST CANT FOCUS! I've tried a whole bunch of techniques too

Ive tried sleeping on my back, cause I read that its best to AP on your back, but I get SO uncomfortable. I just cant get comfortable on my back (mainly because I sleep on my side), and to add to that I always have this random song stuck in my head (It varies day to day) so I can't focus on APing because of that....

EDIT:
P.S.

Well you can actually see the future through astral projection because time does not apply in the astral as it does in the physical but i need to be really good at AP tho because you might think you see the future but what you really see is your own thoughts and what you might think u will see... theres not a lot of people that AP that can see the future whenever they want.
Also you can fly as long as you want in an instant, just close your eyes and focus on where you want to be and when you open your eyes again if you focused enough then you should be there.. or you can ask your spirit guide to take you there however going out further then our galaxy or solar system (dont remember witch) will be a lot harder as there are other rules out there.. i dont know anything about those things yet tho so.... anyway i need to read more about it
Oh and also lufia i think the akashic records are the history of earth you can access anything that ever happened on earth... this too i dont really know for sure.. need to read a little

To think i read this much about AP and yet i cant AP whenever i want.... only if i by 1% chance get a lucid dream lol
btw on week 5 of the AP course it`s about lucid dreaming and a good technique is to be aware during the day.. to several times ask yourself if you are in the physical or the astral and really mean it, really try to belive you are in the astral then ask yourself "am i in the physical?" and take a jump to try and fly and try pulling your finger to see if it stretches (it does in the astral

) this is good cuz after a while u will start doing it in your dreams

Okay.... i almost projected now... it`s earlier then when i usually like to get up but..
okay this is what happened, i was having a normal dream and after a while i woke up, for some reason the first thing i thought of was astral projection so i did not move a muscle and not even opened my eyes and by that time i felt like i lost something (cant seem to figure this part out) i dont really know what it was but then (it felt like my thoughts but i could not control it) i was in a well or something and on top there was this girl who reached out to help my up, when i got up i suddenly thought of leaving my body and i could feel something started to happen then suddenly i felt vibrations and this time the vibrations were more clear i could feel the pulse going through my body lightning fast and the vibrations at once i heard something i think was a voice but i could not hear what it tried to say then after some strange things (felt like minor jolts) i thought "im projecting" then it got more quiet and the vibrations stopped and i could feel it got really warm in all of my body, i decided to open my eyes and get up, so i did and i tried to jump and stuff like that but i was in the physical

guess "im projecting" was a stupid thought

one of the strange things was that girl.. it felt like i was thinking it but i could not control it, it was really cool tho.. but this kinda proves that the 4 in the morning technique can work well... except you need to turn off the alarm clock

I had to remind my mom that I was staying home from school today, but this is a major plot point.
I decided to wake up early and stuff to make myself groggy and tired, so I woke up at 5AM and then got myself cozy to try and AP... I was slowly working my way up to it, then before I know its 6AM and the cat wants in my room. So I get the cat, curl up with him, and go back to trying to AP. Mom gets me up 20 minutes later, when I had just started to feel myself leave my body... This is just as bad as being woke up at the best part of dreams

So I'm like "D: mom you said I could stay home today!!!" so by the time I got myself cozy to AP again, I was too awake to concentrate.

etheric projection is a type of projection in which you project into the 'real' world. Time exist and you become a 'ghost' moving around the world. You can examine the time of your clock and see ur parents sleeping etc. the reality that u projected yourself exists physically.

i do it whenever i get sleep paralyze (when ur conscious is disconnected to the body and you can't move ur physical but u can actually move ur conscious). sleep paralyze is at first scary but i had it so many times it ain't scary any more. i then concentrate on pulling my conscious away from the physical body and it comes out. i've done it successfully like 7 or 6 times now and the furthest i went was to my kitchen, all i've been doing is walking around the house examining stuff. im not sure if i projected to the etheric plane or the lower astral plane(physical)

Hello, I've been reading the post for a while, but I don't think anyone has asked this question. I have come close to AP (I think) twice, both times when I was about 15 or so. The closest I have gotten is just the vibrations (scared the crap out of me). I have tried recently, but must be stressed out from work, wife, kid... or all of the above. My question is, is it a matter of being non-stressed or not? Have you ever done it while you were stressed? If so, does it help with the stress? I would think it would, affirming that there is more than just work and bills, etc...

It is not entirely difficult, the last phase is especially so, however
The key cannot be fully revealed but the emphasis must be on seeing your body, in ones mind eye the vision must be moved from the midst of the ceiling, to downwards and upon ones body lying below.
It is essential to 'visualize' this. The knack produced from the purely imagined visualization accomplishes the act, much as 'seeing a stroke through' in ones mind produces the perfect putt in Golf.
whenever you see your body flash before you, your mind will of course manafacture and employ every trick in the book to defeat the act, yet failing this you are free to roam about the Astral, with perfect freedom

Im brand new to this forrum. I've been experimenting with meditation/ap/lucid dreams since I was about 12, but was unable to really pursue it because I seemed to be the only person I knew that really believed it was possible.
One question. Do most of you ap to places physical (ie around your house) or do you end up in a different realm? I only ever APed once when I was about 12 and it was all withing the physical realm. I would also love to hear any help on contacting my spirit guide. For those who have already felt contact with their guide do they usually find them there waiting for them when they AP?

A few years ago I tryed to AP and came to a door which was being guarded by my spirit guide. (The door was blocking me from the astral plain from what I can tell) Now I could sense that the door was held closed for my own protection, that I was not yet ready to face what was behind it, but I had never heard of anyone being able to project before and thought that I was some sort of bad ass for being able to get there. Any way I arrogantly informed the angel who I was and demanded that he stand aside at which time he did and the door was opened. The best way I can desribe what I felt would be to imagine opening a door to hurricane force winds. That is the only way I can really describe the overwhelming surge of terrifying emotions that hit me. Since then I have many times felt the guidance, direction, and even voice of my spirit guide and am now ready to pickup where I left off.
Has anyone found their spirit guide unwilling to let them go somewhere? Do you APers travel often with a guide or even really believe in their existance? I've been told that everyone has a guide, and often more than one.

Any idea why abstinance affects Aping??? Is it an energy thing or what? From what I've heard sex seems to hold you in your physical body until the next time you sleep, or at least inhibit your ability for OBE.
Do most of you prescribe to the north south orientation of the body, or does it really matter?

Hi everyone
Well my experience with astral travel made me a believer. It all happend 7 months ago right after I had my baby. It was just a regular day and a very busy day anyways after I put the baby to bed for a nap I went and lay on the bed to have a short nap too. I was very tired as soon as I closed my eyes I keep thinking that I did not lock the door, anyways I went downstairs and everything looked different I dont know how to say this but different, open like I could see everything at once. Anyways I headed toward the door to check if i locked it but the think was the door was wide open and i keep thinking I did not left the door open and I was worried trying to figure out why i lefted wide open when all of suden i woke up and then i realised that i astral traveled. The think is after i went and checked the door and it was not wide open, it was closed but not locked. It was so strange but now i believe that i astral progected because i was worried and that was the last thing i was thinking about it. What i want to know is how came everythink looks open and different?
thank u and peace to everyone

Hi Iena, and welcome to the Unexplained Mysteries forum.
Everything looks different because you're not using your physical eyes to "see". You're peripheral vision is wider, perhaps as much as 360 degrees in all directions. You're "seeing" with your "mind's eye" and your focused attention determines where your vision is directed. Your hair, eyebrows, cheeks, and nose are no longer in the way, you're not using binocular vision anymore, depth perception is different, light is brighter, colors are more vivid, images are sharper, etc.
How was your trip down the stairs? Did you feel as if you were walking normally, feeling your weight pressing down on each of the steps?
What about the open door? Do you feel that you may have traveled in the past or future? Or could the open door been an hallucination?

I'm STILL having trouble APing because I almost always have a song stuck in my head (oh so distracting) and that I cant continuously visualize whatever it is I'm trying to AP with. Like the other night, I tried to visualize a ball moving away from me (saw this technique earlier in the topic). I stopped focusing after about 5 minutes. And a couple weeks ago, I woke up at like 2AM... I immediately remembered that one technique where you wake up really early then splash your face with water and then try to AP. So I splashed my face, then went back to bed. A couple minutes later, I had a song stuck in my head. I couldn't focus after that... at all... I just kept hearing "secret...AGENT MAN...secret..AGENT MAN!" going through my head.
Help

Hi there
thank u for the reply. I dont remember going down the stairs but i remember heading towards the living room and then the door. I did not feel my feet it was like I was there just by thinking obout it. I dont know how to explain it. Everything looked open like i could see everything at once and even the door was open. I dont know why the door was open. I dont think i was halucinating and I dont know if i was seeing the past or the future. I remembervery been very tired when i layed on the bed and as soon as I closed my eyes it happened quicklly I did not know i was astral progecting.. Before this I did not believe but now I believe that there is so much that we dont know. That is why i'm here lol
thank u and peace

Hello, I've been reading the post for a while, but I don't think anyone has asked this question. I have come close to AP (I think) twice, both times when I was about 15 or so. The closest I have gotten is just the vibrations (scared the crap out of me). I have tried recently, but must be stressed out from work, wife, kid... or all of the above. My question is, is it a matter of being non-stressed or not? Have you ever done it while you were stressed? If so, does it help with the stress? I would think it would, affirming that there is more than just work and bills, etc...
it also happened to me
actually i do know AP when it happen to me but i didn't even try AP voluntarily it does happen to me 2 times both involuntary meaning accidentally happen

i think its possible in any state of mind some are having OBE when they are stress, sometimes just happened for unknown reasons some did practice

just want to know the answer about this question

Astral projection of the astral mind and body occurs on the astral plane. The astral plane is the second or third plane of existence. I always thought it was the second one, above the physical and below the etheric, but some practitioners list etheric as second and astral third. Both are exact duplications of the physical plane. However, the third one, whether it be astral or etheric, includes forms of thoughts and dreams. For example, Iena's "open door" may have been a thought-form. From a quantum physics point-of-view, the position of the door may have been in one of its several possible states. Whatever the case may be, the names of these two planes are often used interchangeably.
"Astral projection" is used most commonly when referring to the willful intent or act of projecting the astral mind and body (e.g., guided imagery, lucid dream control, visualization, etc.).
"Etheric projection" is used most commonly when referring to the spontaneous projection of the etheric mind and body onto the etheric plane.
An "out-of-body experience" is used most commonly when a person refers to being forced out of his or her physical body (e.g., accident, anesthesia, drugs, trauma, etc.).
Eventually, history will find the right places for these names. Until then, if we rose by any other name, wouldn't it be just as sweet.

I think you hit the nail on the head, brad! Access to the higher self may be the "key"... very insightful.
