Long time viewer, first time poster. Very interesting thread. Sadly, I have been trying this for weeks unsuccessfully. IT seems like whenever I try, my eyes open. Like i feel almost weightless and all of a sudden my eyes begin to creep open.
I try to stay focuses, but its hard. I have 2 Aquariums running along with a fan. Any suggestions?
And Sephiroth, funny you say that about thinking someones watching you, Ive had that too lately! Been spooking me a bit!

Maybe.. i dunno you could find somewhere more quiet to try AP? a lot of noise can be annoying and distracting when you try to AP so i suggest you try it in some quiet place

Heh well did you see the other post i wrote a while ago? the one where something weird happened while i was writing it

i felt someone around me and i felt it touching my shoulder and stuff >_< i freaked out

This is Astral projecting?
I can do it easy then, I can do it when Im awake too (although it is harder)
My technique is as follows.
When you say something in your head over and over again then try and stop, its hard to stop as the word keeps popping into your head.
Picture something repetitive like a bike being pedalled over and over again and then try and stop. You'll find the picture keeps popping into your head too.
What you need to do is go to bed and do this picturing. As your mind begins to cloud you will find it easy just to let the pedalling happen by itself. Also let your mind throw up pictures as kind of the journey of the bike ride. As your mind clouds more and more your inner vision will kick in like a bolt of lightening hitting you.
I would say the think you need to do to Astral Projection or remote viewing etc is to activie the vision parts of your brain while going into trance. Sleep is a very good example of trance.

Sounds like a good technique, i know what you mean when you say its hard to stop a thought like riding a bike when i was younger it always annoyed me how i could never let go of one thought if i started thinking about something random, anyway thanks i think il try this

No use for me when I try to AP...I've tried a few times and I end up just falling asleep. I also think astral projection might just be some form of lucid dreaming. Ive also tried to lucid dream too and that has proven to be impossible.

This morning, I had a weird dream. Basically I was astral projecting throughout the whole dream and exploring my whole house. I'm fairly sure it was lucid as I remember saying that it this isn't real projecting. I can tell by the 'flaws' that it was a dream. Shame though! Just something to look out for.

Ok il just ask this weird question witch does not really have anything to do with AP.. i think.. but i just need to ask, ok here goes: have anyone ever seen themselves in a foggy mirror.. like after you took a shower you turn around and you see the mirror and you notice theres this rainbow colored ring around your eyes? i mean i only have 50% sight on one of my eyes so i only see it around the eye i use lol i use both but only see with one as i auto shut down one (no big deal) anyway i have always seen this and i just wanna know what it is cause its really really annoying and i need to know!! note that its not on my skin its just forming around my eye and looks like a rainbow and gets bigger when i get further away and get closer as i move closer to the mirror... i really wonder what this is....

anyway sry for this of topic question but as nobody else posted yet i dont think (hope) anyone mind..

I know you're doing your best to stay in this thread only maybe it's time to leave the den and explore other parts

. Only saying that so you might be able to get a few more answers for your question (But I've honestly none).
Alot of people are constantly asking questions about AP and maybe you could help them with that in other threads in the same forum section!

Reminds me of the time when trying to project and I heard a woman screaming/laughing wickedly and it took a bit of will trying "to get out of it", i.e. bringing myself back to normal focus. Left me sweating and tired, pretty weird.
How long do you meditate for? I'm going to start properly doing it and willing to spend a long time doing it, so how long do you do it for?

Hey everyone! I'm new here but I've been reading this thread. I figured this was the best place to post some of the experiences I've been having. Around a year ago I was meditating and trying to AP. At one point, I heard this roar---that's the only way to describe it---this beastly, angry roar. I freaked out and brought myself out of the meditation.
Last night I was laying down and out of nowhere I felt this presence. Well I decided to see what I could do with it. So I start meditating and suddenly I felt like the breath was being pulled from my lungs. There was this rush, a feeling of moving very fast, and then I'm looking at a completely different room. I was staring at this wall for a split second before freaking out. Then I had that feeling that you get when you fall in a dream and wake up with a start. Open my eyes and I'm back where I started. I'm not sure what happened, if I was out of my body or not. But I figured this was the best place to ask. Thoughts?

It depends if i am bending spoons then i meditate for 5-10 minutes if i am doing electro finger than i meditate for 10-15 minutes if i am meditating for AP or just meditation than it is 30+ minutes

Hi Vilius! Thanks for responding. Last night I tried again. I definitely didn't succeed, but I think I was close. At one point the same breathless feeling happened and all of a sudden my arms and legs were completely engulfed by this feeling of emptiness. It's hard to describe but it was a tingling numbness. I couldn't feel either of my arms of my legs and so I'm sure they were free. The only problem (and this seems to be common for everyone) is freeing the chest and head. Any tips/advice?

Hi. My name is Shaun and just tonight i found this site whilst searching for info on Astral travel.
A few months ago my friend said that he has woken up on several occasions because he felt a crushing on his chest and couldnt breathe, he also felt paralysed. His auntie is a medium and when he spoke to her she suggested he may be travelling and thet he had nothing to worry about, it still freaked him out tho.
So heres my story...
Im 24 presently and a bit of a clubber. i know that drugs are illegal and everyone has thier opinion on drug abuse. On occasion i have taken drugs whilst being out, im safe and i know my limits (please read on and dont hold this againts me too much(alcohol is the real killer and trouble causer, not recreational clubbing drug use). On the particular occasion in mind i had just arrived at the club and had taken some ketamine, im used to taking this and know the effects it will give me, but this night was different.
Shortly after taking the K i was stood in a dark corner when all of a sudden i felt this great pulling energy from my right shoulder, i turned around to see myself stood not moving with my head looking at the ground and the rest of my body looking limp. At first i thought i had died and instantly started to panic, i turned back to face forward and everything in from of me was the most amazing gold coulour and the energy i felt was exhilerating and like nothing ive ever felt before. all of the while that this was happening i felt something or someone repeatedly telling me everything was going to be fine (although i never saw anyone or anything telling me this) after a few seconds i came to ease with being out of my body and started to look around me, to my right i saw the 2 friends i was out with standing at my side, i took a step over to them and leaned into the ear of the girl i was with to speak above the music and said 'isnt this amazing?', she didnt respond or acknowledge i was there. i realised she obviously didnt see what i saw. shorlty after this i felt the same pulling feeling but in reverse pull me back into my body and i was as one again, for half an hour i stood there with my hands behind my head overwhelmed and relishing the immense feeling and energy which i could still feel but by now was ebbing away. I know i wasnt tripping because of the K, it felt nothing like anything ive felt on that stuff before.
ever since that day my outlook on life, attitude, positivity and the was i treat others has completely changed, im an intensive care nurse and now i give my job my all and treat my patients with such dignity and respect, not that i didnt before, but something in me has definatley changed.
ive never felt this since but i have had dreams which i think have been astral travelling. once i dreamed i was in my bath looking at the wall, it was full of water and suddenly i slipped upside down and couldnt turn myself the right way, i felt paralysed and i couldnt breathe, i was suffocating, i woke all of a sudden sweating and gasping for air, it wasnt nice at the time but it interests me so much now.
and just last night i opened my eyes onlyt to find that i was trying to move, i thought i was really slowly taking my legs off the bed and sitting up but i wasnt and i felt paralysed for ages, i finally colud move after at least 15 minutes and managed to go for a wee before climbing back into bed, but for the rest of the night i felt myself drifting back into that feeling and desperately trying stop myself getting back in that stage.
i always have dreams if flying too and i can bounce off the ground and people see me fly before landing again and look at me in awe wishing they could so that. the whole psychic thing interests me so much and i love the thought of being able to do this kind of thing.
thats the end of my experiences to date, if anyone could give me some advice, feedback or whatever id be more than grateful. please reply to this message or email me on dcmf59@hotmail.co.uk

Well, I think you had a fascinating experience and it's hard to say what really happened. The fact that you had taken K before the experience does make it likely that it was just an effect of the drugs. I know it felt different and seemed different than anything you had ever felt while on K, but the possibility is definitely there that you were having a unique reaction to it. It certainly could have been astral projection, but you can't say for sure. If you want to talk more about it, please feel free to message me.
If it was just the ketamine, there's no reason why you can't actually astral project.

Thanks for your quick replys and understanding guys. im so hooked on this right now.
before i went to bed i read about how to do the whole projection thing and read that if you wake up half way through the night then you should close your eyes and see yourself stood in your room and then make the affirmation 'i wil astral project' over and over.
i did this last night, ans sure enough, i started hearing this eery noise and i think some popping, i felt paralysed again but tried not to get scared, this lasted as long as i wanted it to and then i asked to return to normal and within seconds i felt fine.
i was wide awake after this and didnt try to do it again, i just wish i could have left my body and had a look around. maybe next time, i cant wait to sleep tonight.
keep you posted guys.
p.s. when i had my OBE thing in the club im thinking now that maybe the music had a lot to do with it and the ligts, the music was minimal / techno, loads of strange noises etc and i read yesterday that you can buy cds of different frequencies of noise to help you AP etc.???

I had a cool experience today i was meditating when i decided to activate my chakras i visualized white dots as my chakras they were growing and after that spinning and changing directions after awhile i opened all chakras and visualized them growing even bigger then exploding one after another into white little dots i made myself fell being these dots as they shaped into my body then i visualized this new body above me and i visualized myself leave my old body and flow into the new one over and over again i didnt project though something moved from my feet's into my spine causing major pain and the fact that i was spewing electricity out of myself (dunno why could be electrokinesis) didnt help

after that i decided to do an experiment which turned out to be a disaster i visualized my finger surrounded by myself earth and the sun and they were giving me energy after awhile this crazy stench appeared it was a disaster

! could be because of sun and earth burning earth lol

I have more questions, hundreds of them...
how often do people travel in their sleep? there are so many things i wish i had tried last night or asked but i never thought, i just hope my next time is not too far away.
i read that beginners should not try to AP for too long at first and if your trying to AP just visualise that your in your own room. why is this? can it be harmful to push it too far too fast?
could i say... visit my best friend, my soul mate in her sleep to see what she dreams as a result? of course id ask her if i could first.
im sure more questions will follow. thanks

People do it every time they sleep

but they usually dont know whats going on and thats why it becomes a dream
People says you should take it easy but you cant get harmed in any way, also if your almost falling asleep while visualizing your in the other end of your room you might just project to that place meaning you might just suddenly stand there outside your body

and you could visit anyone you want or go anywhere you want, im not sure if you can see other peoples dreams but i believe its possible
Hope this helps a little

I've heard that the most important thing is to not try too hard. When I had my success a few nights ago, I was completely relaxed and wasn't even doing any of the exercises people tell you to do when trying to AP. Granted, it only lasted for a brief second before I freaked out and wound up back in my body, but it says something about how important relaxing is. I think if I succeed and can keep my cool, I'll visit some departed loved ones.

I agree with what you're saying. Like meditation, the best way to meditate is your own way just as long as you focus on your purpose. The same with AP, some techniques mentioned are just for relaxing. When it comes to trying to project, just do what suits you best, after all, what suits you best may help the relaxing part of it aswell.

Merely dreaming is usually not travelling, but rather only envisioning a virtual reality projected to your mind from some source of consciousness. Your consciousness needs to be voluntarily forced to integrate into something already in motion to travel out of your body.

Or even can sometimes be involuntarily acheived, I suspect.

Well, the jury is definitely still out on what dreams actually are or where they originate from.

Its really hard to say actually if dreams are connected to AP in the first place but thats not really the point cause the point is you need to project consciously anyway so who really cares about dreams

try to focus more on the techniques and AP itself cause i dont really think dreams matter when you try to AP, short story: AP and dreams <--- you want to achieve AP not dreams

My last few questions seemed to spark off a bit of a debate. Fab!
Ive just gotten in from a night shift, ive never looks so forward to going to sleep. I wonder what fruits lie instore. Probably nothing as im so geared up for something.
I also ordered a book i found online called 'Flying without a broom stick' anyone heard of this? There are just seem to be so many possibilities and new words and stuff that its all a bit confusing at the moment. All i know is that i kinda liked what i felt event tho the whole paralysis thing was a bit freaky at first. Its just reinforced how powerful the mind is and how amazing life can be.
