I had the wierdest lucid dream yesterday night. Wierd becaues it was my first. I was standing in a building i thought to be a hotel, it was realy deep into the future (there were flying cars and stuff). it was realy far down and when i looked down i saw these huge pipes biding the one "hotel" to the other. I suddenly though by myself this isn't real and then realized i was dreaming!

So the moment i knew this i thought what must i do no... then without hessitation i ran and jumped. I went head on down and "propelled" myself faster and faster to the ground. when i hit the ground i awoke.

Anyway i still can feel that wind. it was so realistic. I hope i have more lucid dreams soon. thumbup.gif

Cool dream and nice ride, Ghost! I can picture it as being a little like the opening movie scenes to "The Fifth Element". Rememer that eerie feeling it gave you when you realized that things weren't right. You can use that "not right" feeling again in future dreams to trigger your awareness. You were brave to take the plunge. Next time, you should try using your "will power" to propel yourself towards the sky.

Flying, soaring, falling, driving, riding, leaping, jumping, sliding, gliding, surfing, skiing, and skating are all good signs of astral travel or movement while dreaming.

I have heard that flying in dreams means that you have a erection and im sorry to tell that this have been the case for me most of the times... laugh.gif

But maybe that goes under "movement" kind of tongue.gif

I've heard that sexual deprivation can sometimes cause out-of-body experiences. Perhaps that's what you experienced during your flying dream.

Hm, interesting. Because, I havent gotten laid for like forever laugh.gif But still, it was just a ordinary dream and i had you know what. Never happened in a actual so called OBE, strange huh?

True, you bring up a good point. I don't remember it happening to me during an OBE or reading about it happening to anyone else during an OBE. So I suppose not all flying dreams are indicative of OBEs. Flying dreams may also be sexually symbolic or an indication that the dreamer has a full bladder.

I astral projected! I was taking a nap then i woke up i suddenly lost sense of everything around me and was sent through a blue/white tunnel to nothing where was this music tzititu playing after about 10seconds i exited the tunnel and saw the same view like if i would have my eyes open but this one was covered some red fog i understood that i appeared in Naraka the lowest astral plane some kind of a small creature jumped appeared before me its upper part was glowing blue i wanted to touch it so i tried moving my arm and it detached from my physical arm and passed right through the creature the creature flew away then.

As i further detached my pineal gland jumped up and down the i moved my head i saw my father standing next to me that probably was a neg because after a few seconds he grew some kind of horrific jaws and i was sent back to my body.

Gratz vilius tongue.gif sounds really cool! i however kinda stopped trying because i was trying to take more control over my dreams first however i got obsessed with rune magic cause i found it really easy and really powerful! every night i dream whats going to happen the day after and now i dont even need the runes grin2.gif however i believe my main goal is still the same only im doing it through the power of runes tongue.gif

P.S runes can be dangerous too so dont overdo it if you want to try >_< also i used it on my friend once and gave him the same dream as i did.. in other words he entered my dream tongue.gif so i believe i can achieve AP through this!
Vilius
The technique i use for AP is very easy take a nap and then wake your mind up i did this 3 times and it nearly kicked me out 2 times the above AP was done with this tech.

Hmm could you give us some info about those runes tongue.gif i might give them a try thumbsup.gif ! They seem really cool

what does it mean wake your mind up?
Vilius
I dunno just wake up but let your body sleep hard to explain it just happens

last night my mind woke up into a lucid dream or something but i was laying in my bed with my eyes closed but i knew i was awake because i was able to think of what to do, and when i thought about seeing myself on the other side of the room my body felt like it was vibrating intensively and it felt like i was floating up and i read somewhere all you have to do to open your eyes is to think about opening them and i did but it didn't seem to work, after that i must have fallin back to sleep. am i getting closer? ive posted my experience a few days back , its amazing how it seems like its taking steps to reach the final,..also the envoriment was my room when i woke up, now my question is how do i get to astral projection from a lucid dream? if thats what im experiencing

QUOTE
Couple days back

I foudn myself laying in my bed all of a sudden and it felt like as if i was awake except my room had a blue tone to it and if i was awake it would be pitch black dark, for some reason i told myself wait im dreaming but i know that im dreaming so i must be lucid dreaming oh sh**, that is what i thought to myself and said to myself so since i had experience i told myself if this is excatly like last time, if i move my head or body up then ill hear a loud screech, and amazingly it did do that loud screech and then my ears popped like a b**** and from there i knew i was experiencing the same thing as last time except i wasn't scared because i had knowledge of what was going on unlike last time. I layed there for a bit thinking about how to get to the astral realm thinking of how to float out of my body and i started seeing a bunch of colourful lights flying towards me for a couple of seconds and all of a sudden it was over and i think i went back to dreaming and i woke up later in a pitch black room, no blueish light from the moon. So was i close to astral projectioning more then last time?

I also realize that last time it happened i had stayed up all day so i was exhausted when i went to bed, and i also stayed up 24 hours before i went to sleep and this occured.

Great, Boomrokin! Just because you couldn't "see" doesn't mean that it didn't happen. You're definitely on your way. Many times, the first visual AP happens spontaneously, when we least expect it.

However, the quote from your previous post bothers me. The one and only time when I awoke to find my room bathed in bluish light, I was examined by an unwelcomed visitor. At first, I thought the light was coming from the moon, possibly shining through blue curtains, but neither case was true. I don't know if it walked through the wall or appeared out of thin air, but a strange-looking creature came towards me holding something in its right hand. It appeared to have feathers or scales, I couldn't tell which, all over its body. I was scared out of my skull, until he touched me with some kind of instrument. My last thought was seeing him holding the instrument against my stomach from a viewpoint above my bed. I fell asleep until the next morning. I was too young for my parents to believe me, much less, old enough to demand hypnosis. I don't mean to scare you, but you might want to repost your earlier experience in the UFO forum.

really..i never thought of it as an abduction or anything interesting..actually there was another post i had before the post that i quoted that was talking about my first encounter what seemed like sleep paralysis or something, story in a nutshell i woke up one night instantly and found myself felt like as if i i was floating out of my body slowly and since i had no knowledge of what was going on i instantly paniced and tried to shrug my "soul" back into my body but the more i moved the more intense my fear grew until i tried opening my eyes and i heard a loud screeching noise, it was a terrifying experience but i saw no lifeform around me the first time or the second time..but i could take abduction into consideration thanks. After the first time it happened i came on here and did a bunch of research and found that "ears popping" could have been a sign of having an OBE and just yesterday after i had felt the intense shaking vibrations i came on here and found THAT was also a sign of OBE, im glad im on the right track but is the loud screeching a part of it? Ps. your story St Q is pretty scary, sounds like it could have been an abduction, angel, or something from the astral realm

To the best of my knowledge, I've never heard loud screeching noises before. I've heard loud popping sounds, sometimes followed by a bright flash of light. Most often, this would happen when suddenly waking up while falling asleep. I've also heard the sounds of water running, like from a waterfall or gushing from an open-ended pipe. Would you say that these loud screeching noises sounded anything like the screech of an owl?

I've experienced sleep paralysis many times and have had several hallucinations, including seeing the "old hag", and except for that one time, I've never seen blue light in my room. I've read about several alien visitation and abduction cases where the victim saw blue light, but I've never read about it happening during sleep paralysis or AP (until today). I suppose it could be sleep paralysis, and, like the "old hag" hallucination, another one of those strange coincidences that two or more people can share. Only in our cases, they could be shared with those of the UFO community.
boomrokin
the screech sounds like...i cant really explain it but it would have went well with a jumpy part in a horror movie, almost like metal pressing against each other it sounded high pitched and lasted at least 5 seconds, the first time it happend 5 months back the sound triggered when i tried to open my eyes, the experience i had a couple days back i already had my eyes open (not physically) and told myself if i moved i should be hearing the same screech as last time and when i moved it made that nose and following that noise was loud popping sounds. The bluelight that lighted up my room was dimmed, it was not a solid blue liek the text in your signature but a soft white with a blue tint. Also, what is old hag hallucination ive never heard of that before

The "old hag" syndrome is a common hallucination experienced during sleep paralysis. She is often seen sitting on the chest making it hard to breathe. I can understand seeing demons, or even aliens, sitting on us, holding us down, or paralyzing us with their magic wands, but an "old lady"? I'm not sure what's up with that. Just Google "old hag sleep paralysis" (without the quotes).

Yes, the blue light is a very light blue, like white light shining through blue curtains, or blue light shining through white curtains. It was just enough to make all the objects in the room appear to have a blue tint or hue to them. With or without blue light, my room was so dark that no other colors were visible.

I don't know what to say about the metal-against-metal screeching noise. If you don't have the rushing water sounds, it may be a derivative of or substitution for that.

P.S. Before I forget: If you have access to a blacklight, be sure to check yourself in a dark room for any signs of fluoresence on or under your skin.

alright man ill keep that in mind and go out and borrow a blacklight from a friend, i know what your getting at and i hope thats not the answer to whats causing these things. On another note if my experiences are leading me up to astral projection, what should i do next time i find myself to be fully aware that im dreaming and not awake , because of all the times i knew my mind was awake the dream environment was the same as the room i was sleeping in, only not pitch black as usual, should i try to slowly to get off the bed and hopefully see that my soul got up and not my physical body?

You could try flying in the dream before it fades, or if that falls, get up or roll out of bed as soon as possible. You can do it slowly but don't wait to long before initializing the move. Many times, the dreamer finds himself or herself waking up a second time or going back to sleep. For example, before analyzing your environment, rollover anyway. In case you're in bed, this will make it easier to get up and out. The mere thought of walking should put you in glide mode.

Alright i see thanks alot St Q ill see what happens tonight and hopefully i end up waking up again, its strange because all last night and a couple days back i did not forcefully get into bed with a mindset of astral projectioning, it just happened so suddenly but i was ready for it since i did my research and such, and last nights intense vibrations was a new experience for me, and then comming on here and finding out that vibrations are something that you feel before you project made me even more excited i guess im on the right track. I'll keep you guys posted of my next experience, hopefully it'll be me seeing myself laying in bed. St Q are you a professional when it comes to astral projection?

No, I'm not a professional, but I play one on TV. LOL... just kidding.

I probably could give you the names of all those who have projected since the late 1980's. In my early teens, my brother and I would practiced brain-desensitizing techniques. In my late teens, I practiced relaxation exercises. In my early 20's, I practiced meditation and yoga, and in my late 20's, I became obsessed with astral projection.

You're right though, getting into bed with a mindset of AP doesn't guarantee an OBE. Most of mine happened when I got into bed thinking about my family, my job, my friends, and college. My experiences have been initialized through drugs, stress, AP study, sleep paralysis, and dream control, all of which I don't practice anymore. Unfortunately, the vibrations still plague me though, every few months or so, even during the day in the middle of a conversation.

If you happen to see your physical body, that's fine, but please don't make that your goal. Think about seeing a loved one, friend, or family member. If you have children of your own, please tell them about it, so they don't freak out, should it ever happen to them.

Good Luck 2 U,
Steve Q

Actually im quite young myself, im 17 turning 18 in a few months. Speaking of drugs & AP one of my friends took 2 bottles of dextromethorphan (hes in college so experimenting is a must) and he said he was so relaxed that he floated out of his body and was floating in the air and saw his physical body sitting on the coach and he said he flew around the world and universe to different places and said that he was at a place where he use to hang out when he was a child and it was very vivid. I think my first reason to AP'ing was because i wanted to see whats beyond the physical world and try to find answers for myself about life and such, but everytime i put it down and forget about it something will always bring it back to me like a dream, or things like i described about what happened a couple nights back. Thanks alot for the help ill post when something new has happened with me and AP.

hi i have been astro travelling for years im 31 and my first experience was when i was 12. it actually happened last night its beyond my control.
I experience an effect similar to a vacuum where as im getting sucked out of my body and spun totally out of control, i find my self grasping on to
my bedroom curtains or anything to keep me grounded i even interlock myself between my husbands arms and legs.
At times ive taken control and calmed myself accepting what was happening and was able to walk about my house and all sorts of things , but i find it annoying as it interrups my sleep as i have no control over it ,how do i stop this from happening

QUOTE(Socrates @ Jan 26 2006, 09:09 AM) *
To some of you, the idea of astral travel, (astral projection, OBE) may seem completely insane. It did to me once too. But I decided to try it anyway, and had amazing results.

-

Astral travel has been practised throughout history - and there have been thousands of documented scientific experiements confirming that astral travel is real.
People seek therapy because they 'wake up paralyzed and rigid' (sleep paralysis, a close component of astral travel) 'Wake up and see strange beings around them' (entities found in the astral plane) 'Find themselves floating or vibrating violently, or engulfed in a bright light' (sensations felt as the astral body leaves the physical body) Some people have even gone so far as to say their astral experiences are alien encounters.

-

And, there are those who resent astral travel and/or refuse to beleive it is possible at all. Perhaps for one or more of the following reasons:

1. They beleive that astral experiences are actually dreams. (Wrong. Astral travel is a fully conscious experience, as thousands of people have confirmed worldwide.)

2. They beleive that those who claim to astral travel are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. (Wrong again. Drugs or Alcohol actually hinder astral travel. Furthermore, most people who astral travel began astral travelling at a very young age - 6 to 12.)

3. They beleive what people describe as an astral experience is actually an alien abduction. (Thrice wrong. Although, waking paralyzed, seeing strange entities, and being engulfed in a blinding white light may be likened to an alien abduction, such symptoms are components of the first stages of astral travel.)

4. They beleive people claim to be able to astral travel for publicity, money, or attention in general. (Indeed, some people may use astral travel for such a purpose, or claim that they are able to astral travel when in actuality they cannot. However, astral travel is an enlightening spiritual experience, and he or she who has astral travelled normally understands the importance of keeping such a controvertial hobby quiet. Furthermore, it is commonly known that if one astral travels for selfish or evil purposes, they are likely to find themselves attracting unpleasant entities.)

5. They beleive astral travel is evil, and a sin unto god. (A misconception. As said above, astral travel is a spiritually enlightening and developing experience, not an evil or sinful one. The bible actually talkes about astral travel on several occasions; it describes people as being "in the spirit" while receiving prophecy. Terminology of astral projection is also found in:

Ecclesiastes 12:6-12:7:

"Remember [your Creator] — before the silver cord is severed,
or the golden bowl is broken;
before the pitcher is shattered at the spring,
or the wheel broken at the well,
and the dust returns to the ground it came from,
and the spirit returns to God who gave it."

The passage is talking about what happens when we die.
The silver cord this passage talks about exists when one projects. It links the physical body to the astral one. Don't worry - It can only be severed if we die in the physical world. The golden bowl refers to the 'crown chakra' the main energy center of the body, used to project. Biblical Scholars attribute these lines to astral projection or the astral body in general.

Those are some of the more common reasons people resent or refuse to beleive astral travel is possible. Hopefully I have cleared up some of the myths associated with this phenomena.

-

Here is a technique for astral travel. I bluntly call it the '4 in the morning technique' I have tried many methods over the past two years, and this one had the best results. I have written it out in steps. It involves getting up at 4 o'clock in the morning - a little extra effort, but it is by far worth it. The reasons for waking up at 4 in the morning are:

- You will be drowsy and it will be easier to clear your head.
- You will drift off to sleep much faster.
- You will have gotten up for a purpose; your body and mind will be tuned to what you are trying to achieve.

A note to those who are skeptical about astral travel but still wish to try it: You must keep an open mind while attempting to project. Any negative thoughts or feelings will certainly hold you back. Stay positive, open, and willing.

The technique is as follows:

Set your alarm for 4 o'clock in the morning.

Allow yourself to drift asleep.

At four in the morning, the alarm will wake you. Get out of bed turn on the light, and splash water on your face. Dry your face with a towell.

After about two minutes, get back in bed. Lie on your back.

You will most likely be feeling groggy and tired. Your mind will be eager to get back to sleep.

Close your eyes, and clear your mind. This should be easy because you are so tired.

Now, imagine you are standing somewhere in your room. Perhaps in the far corner. Vividly see yourself standing there. Know that you are standing there, and that your body is still lying on the bed. Focus your whole mind on this concept.

While working on that, begin a simple affirmation in your head. "I am going to astral travel. I am going to leave my body." Say it in your head, over and over, while imagining you are on the other side of the room.

While you are doing this, you will begin to drift back to sleep. Slowly, your mind will begin to cloud. Make sure that the concept of standing elsewhere in your room is the last thing that goes through your mind before you are asleep.

You may experience one or more of the following sensations:

- Floating
- Sinking
- Vibrations
- A bright white/blue light
- A rushing or popping sound
- Starnge noises; someone calling your name
- A jolt

If you experience one or more of these sensations for the first time, it may be frightening. But know that they are positive signs; signs that let you know you're about to project.
Almost always, apon feeling a strange sensation, the person trying to project gets such a fright that he/she is jolted back into their body. If this happens to you, allow yourself to fall asleep and try again the next night, knowing presently that there is nothing to fear.

If you find yourself outside your body, do not stay out for too long the first time. Float about your room, become used to the physics of the astral plane, and then will yourself back into your body. You can start exploring after a 24 hour break. There may be a guide waiting for you. This guide will watch over you and take you where you please. Talk briefly with the guide, and say you will project again in 24 hours.

When 24 hours pass, you will be ready to explore and venture further than your room. You may not even have to use drifting off to sleep as a medium for astral travel.

If, after several attempts, you still have not projected, do not be detered. It is likely you will have felt some of the sensations above while trying, and this is a positive sign. You must remember that it is a matter of willpower. You can't just casually attempt to project in a one-off scenario. Think about astral travel throughout the day. Buy a book on astral travel. Attempt to astral travel everynight. Eventually, I gurantee, you will get out.

-

That's all I have time for at the moment. If you have any questions about the technique I listed, or about astral travel or the astral plane, send me a PM. I will be happy to help.

What you described sounds much like a drug-induced out-of-body experience.

"I felt every nerve ending and fiber of my being becoming disconnected, as I wrapped the tall grass next to me around my hands in an effort to stay grounded. I felt myself being pulled upward through a hole in the top of my head. I was helpless. I could do nothing to keep this from happening."

Dissociative or depersonalization disorders can be caused by many different things, and there are several medications to treat them. Have you ever been diagnosed as having one or more of the following?

Acute Stress Disorder
Anxiety or Panic Disorder
Bipolar Disorder
Brain Tumor or Lesion
Childhood Interpersonal Trauma
Clinical Depression
Drug Use, Misuse, or Abuse
Insomnia
Mental Illness
Migraine
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder
Schizophrenia
Temporal Lobe Epilepsy

I'm not saying that you have any of these, but it would be beneficial to eliminate them as suspects.

Hello, Ive always been interested in this kind of thing, and I was wondering that when I feel as if Im falling from a cliff in a dream ( My tummy drops, my heart races, I get numb), does that mean Im about to astro project? Just wondering. Thanks. thumbsup.gif

I had a cool dream today i flew in it in great heights i entered the realm of hell through a gate in some library it looked exactly as physical plane looked except the city i was flying in became a desert off course this wasn't the actual hell plane because i was dreaming anyways i landed in a desert and i thought this is a dream then i changed the colors of windows in a few buildings and the dream ended grin2.gif

I’ve figured out my own technique to Astral Projection, but it involves laying with my arms pinned down so they loose blood circulation and fall asleep first. Is this a bad idea?

So far, I’m able to lay there and wiggle my astral arms and astral legs through the air, without actually moving them physically. However, when I try to roll over and get out of my bed, I snap out of meditation mode and start physically moving.
Passtheflask
Hmm. I seemed to figure it out. However, while I am astral traveling, it feels like I am Suffocating.
During my astral travel I feel like I am losing blood circulation to my brain, and have to keep jolting myself back into my body in fear of blacking out.
Is this normal?

i started trying AP when i was 13 (two years ago). the first time i almost did it but i frightened when i saw my heart going so fast. i tried it the following days but i couldn't do it. i told my friends and my family to do it, but they didn't believe me. so i didn't try it for a few months. this year 2007 i purposed myself do it, and i would like to do it this summer.. today i saw this forum and this post, so this night i will try the "4 in the morning techique". well all of this things i said aren't important, i want to ask you: anyone of this thread uses any program of instant messaging? (like msn messenger) i would like someone to add me to their contact list so we can talk better... if not, it doesn't matter. mi direction is arbiol2003@gmail.com

edit: i'm reading some posts in 155. one day i was sleep paralyzed and i start hearing that loud screech, like a machine sawing metal just next to my house. i think that's a thing that happens when you are near the AP

I am very new here..well..I just joined, but I have always been reading over the forums here. So...........I just wanted to add that in my early childhood I have had this Phenomena happen once or twice, well thats as many times as my mind will allow me to remember.

I would like to try this, but I have this BIG fear of actually SEEING demons and ghostly figures..any advice for a noob such as my self? grin2.gif

this will sound kinda funny, but just believe you are safe. The more you are scared, the worse it gets. Since all (or most) of you here believe in it, ill just say something wackier. When you sleep, you dream, and when you dream, you have to create dreams, and when you create dreams, your creating a "virtual reality", and when you go astral, you might actually encounter what you have created. But if you believe it is all fake, then you are going to be perfectly fine.

Ahh! I get where you are going with this. So, like before I close my eyes and visualize myself standing in my room..just say to myself that there is nothing to fear that I control my mind and its creations? happy.gif happy.gif

You really shouldn't do that if you feel like passing out.
shinrak
I tried the technique at 4 in the morning (i know i can do it at another hour but i tried that one). It doesn't work a lot for me, because i wake up by myself 10 minutes before, so when i try AP, it's like doing it before going to bed. I'll keep trying
GirlInBlack
I have done this before as well, but I didn't ever tell anyone because I just figured out how to do it myself one day when I was bored and thought it was too strange to mention to friends.

I can lucid dream so I sometimes try to think of things I want to dream before I fall asleep. That is how it first started when I was around 12 years old. I would sit in my bedroom and blank out my mind. The LED clock was the only source of light in my pitch black room. I would sit there and think of people or places that I wanted to see in my dreams, slowly drifting off to sleep.

One night I was lying there and I noticed that if I looked at the clock on the wall for a while the glowing LED numbers started to blurr out a little and I couldn't figure out why (thought it was some sort of optical illusion). I was bored and was having trouble falling to sleep so I kept staring at it with my mind blank, and after a while the whole room started to look strange (hard to explain what it looked like). Staring at a single point of light in a dark room was causing it. I kept at it and I felt a stiffness start to go through my body. It started at my feet and slowly went up my body. It felt kinda like a wave of cold like someone pouring cold water on me, but the feeling was my body starting to become rigid. A few more minutes and I was having trouble keeping my eyes open. When I close my eyes and let sleep take over the stiffness in my body hits a peak and it scares me a little. I felt light as air and very relaxed. I then get this feeling like I am sinking into the bed. It is like my body wasn't solid and I was somehow moving through the fibers of my bed...talk about strange.

That is as far as I went with it at first. I would get scared from that sinking feeling and would wake back up. I kept practicing it though just because I liked the feeling it gave me. It was also a good way to clear my mind and get into a really good sleep even if I had a stressful day and I was worrying about stuff when I went to bed. Eventually I could feel myself floating out of my body but I couldn't control what I was doing too well and I would get scared eventually and snap out of it too soon. I would get angry because I didn't want to stop projecting but I couldn't stop from being scared. I didn't know what was happening after all, and I wasn't trying to project. I just thought I stumbled on some weird type of meditation(either that or I was going crazy..haha)

After a year or so I finally figured out how to control what I was doing somewhat, but I gave up on it shortly after that. I guess I just got bored with it, and haven't done it again in a long time. It wasn't until I read this post that the memory of me doing that sprang back into my head. The last time I did it was around 10 years ago. I might try it tonight with some of the new methods I learned here.
shinrak
so your method is being sit, with mind in blank, staring at a light point? that's a new method for me, i'll try it tonight.

Yeah, and try not to blink. It is best to lie in bed in a pitch black room with a single point of light (I did it last night looking at the blue LED light on my computer monitor). Keep focused on the light source until your eyes shut. Your eyes might relax at some point and not focus on anything. You will still be focused on the lightsource to a degree but not as much because your eyes are relaxing. You should let them relax. Even though you think you aren't looking at the light, you really still are, but just not in the same way. You will be feeling really strange and peaceful at this point. It's important not think about anything but being relaxed and being somewhere else in the room once you start feeling strange. After that you will feel a strong urge to close your eyes. When you start to get tired and feel your eyes heavy concentrate really hard on being out of body somewhere else in the room or floating above your house..whatever normally does it for you.

You will fail your first time. You will get scared when it actually starts to work. Don't get discouraged. Oh, and you should also be taking deep slow breaths the whole time.

i haven't managed to AP yet (consciously), so i don't have a usually method of focusing or concentrating.. this morning at 6:00 i was very close, but i started to have stomach ache and i couldn't finish it.. i have one question for all people of this thread: can you "perform" AP covered up with a blanket or something like that? (i hope you understood me, i used a translator for that last question)
Vilius
OooooOo i nearly done it today i focused on the light in my head then suddenly i felt like i was sleeping but i was still looking at the light i tried moving my hand and i felt it phase through the blanket two times then i was like 'w00t' i got nearly kicked out of my body but i didnt do it i was so close!!

Just this morning as i was staring at th light in my head i saw that im opening my i blinked and it was gone sad.gif everything there was covered in a reddish white cloud like thing
Brandon1699
The wierdest thing happened to me last night. As soon as I got on my bed and laid down, I went into the vibration stage! It was completely unexpected and I jumped up in fear. If only I didn't jump up, then I would have probably have APed right then. sad.gif
sephiroth976
i got the vibrations last night.. just out of nowhere i woke up half asleep vibrating a couple of times... i was not feeling so go at the moment (starting to get sick) so i could not do anything more then fall asleep.. but it was still just out of nowhere >_< btw did this thread die all of a sudden? XD
shinrak
i tried these days and i can't concentrate... i'm on my bed and at 5 min i can't be in that position anymore, i have to move. i'll wait a week and try it again
bustacrab
Lately I have been waking up at the same time every night having to take a leak (this is unintentional AP as I didn't setup this internal alarm clock original.gif ).... the other night I started falling asleep and began to sink into my bed, but when this happened it didn't seem real at all. It was all in dream land. After this I had some lucid style dreaming, but I have had enough experience with lucid dreaming to know that that is all it is. I even forget later what it was I dreamed about. Astral travel is just dreaming to me... I wish it was more.... but it's not
Ebdonoianjr
I'm so excited! This morning I had my first experience with astral projection. I was dreaming about my cousin. She came over and brought me some really good food. We were eating and I realized I was dreaming. I told her I was dreaming and she said then she would bring the food to someone else who was not dreaming(weird huh). Then I remember I wanted to astral project and I was back in my room laying on my bed. My eyes were closed and I opened them and saw the ceiling fan, but my body felt really light. I tried to float up to the fan but then I felt something brush on my leg and I was back into my body. I was awake and my son had moved and brush up on my leg. I had a tingling sensation through my whole body and I felt really warm especially in my chest area. My chest felt heavy kinda like it hurt. Does anyone know what that is?

Obvious Differences Between Lucid Dreams and Out-of-body Experiences (based on personal experiences):

Lucid Dreams

1. Consciousness/faculties
a. Less than 100%
b. Realization of dream after awakening
c. Can see dream body

2. Transportation
a. Normal - walking, running, jumping, crawling
b. Abnormal - flying, soaring, falling
c. Driving or riding in or on a vehicle

3. Travel sensations
a. Gravity, inertia, weight, wind
b. Floor, ground, vehicle seat, etc.

4. Obstacles/barriers
a. Opening by hand, jumping over, crawling under
b. Pushing, pulling, punching, lifting, kicking
c. Using other objects or weapons

Out-of-body Experiences

1. Consciousness/faculties
a. Operate at 100%
b. Indistinguishable, during and after
c. Cannot see astral body

2. Transportation
a. At light or near-light speed
b. Sudden displacement and reappearance
c. Gliding at or slightly above surfaces

3. Travel sensations
a. Non-gliding vision absent, obscured, black
b. No presence of gravity, inertia, weight, wind
c. Some visual psychological inertia
d. Tactile absence of floor, ground, etc.

4. Obstacles/barriers
a. Reappearance on other side
b. Passing through
c. Inability to touch or move

Again, these are my own personal opinions about the differences and may not apply to everyone. I must admit that I become suspiciously doubtful about any experience, my own or otherwise, that deviates from the above. No offense, but the fine line between the two is hallucination, and if no fine line exists, less skeptics can question its validity. Scientists are working feverishly to recreate it. Out-of-body experiences have nothing to do with psychic abilities, psychic phenomena or any of its fringes. It is only paranormal.

I don't know if this song or video has anything to do with astral projection, but it shows a good example of "gliding". That which I don't do in dreams of any type.

What Else Is There?
bustacrab
So you have 100% control when you have an OBE? I hate lucid dreams because I can't do everything I want to do... only a few things. I always end up just getting back into the "planned dreaming sequence" so I lose complete control.
JBflorida
so all this talk about astral travel.
One thing that happens to me quite often is I will be in a very deep sleep dreaming (very realistically). All of the sudden something will be happening and I will get the feeling that I am falling, it will freak me out and I will wake up in my bed in a different position.

The weirdest thing about this is that my parents said that when i was a toddler they used to find me sleeping under my crib when they had left me sleeping in it, even though I could hardly crawl yet get out of my crib.

I never thought about being able to astral travel, maybe somehow I am levitating in my sleep who knows, but its happening and now that i have read this I might have to try some of this on my own. I'll get back if anything happens.
