I was just looking around the internet thinking about this astral travelling thing. . .and what i came up with is a possible proof of it happening and also explains another aspect of lore that is unexplainable.

What if astral travel not only allowed you to travel through space but also time!

the proof in this is right in front of our faces. . .Ghost. Sightings of people that aren't really there.

What is this is just people seeing the image of our innerbeing that is actually doing the travelling outside of our body.

This would explain so much as in why people see "ghost" that have ancient clothes on(people travelling in the past and we are seeing them now)
This is a perfect explanation of why people would see these and why they are never there for a long time.

This would work great for people from the past as the past as already happend so it is possible for them to travel back to there own time when there journey was up, it would also explain why we haven't seen future looking Ghost b/c if they came back in time then there future wouldn't be around anymore because they had left it for a time when there future didn't exist

This is so great, give me your ideas people and i hope this doesn't get lost in the depths of this thread cuase it would be an interesting topic!
feel free to PM me with any thoughts or critisizm. I just came up with this idea so i would love to be disproven.

I am used to the "jolt" sensation, usually when I wake up from a "nap" in the middle of class. Last time i could NOT attribute it to this, however, seeing as I was dreaming and something hit me HARD in the dream. On another note, I tried this last night, only at 3 am rather than 4, seeing as my dad gets up for work at 4 and I don't want him to know I'm waking up for such a reason. -edit- It was an utter failure this time! I turned off my alarm and went back to sleep instantly. No attempts whatsoever after that ^^

Today when meditating i saw that 1/3 of my left eye opened and i saw my room covered in white light (i saw red , red/white and now white seems that im improving tongue.gif) and i felt like drifting to AP , couldn't do it though anyways that wasn't even my goal then ill just keep meditating until i can do it whenever i want tongue.gif

Good luck everyone thumbsup.gif !

hey there guys, I'm new to these forum, this being the first topic I read.

I took the time and went through the first 11 pages, after which I decided to try this AP thing myself. I must say, I've been experimenting ESP for quite some time now with rare results, if none at all. This experience was the first one that actually threw something back at me and made me sure that it's not all in my mind. It's the only experience that I can't find a logical explanation and yet it makes sense to me.

I read all the advices towards this practice of AP, and decided not to wait for 4 o'clock in the morning. I was reading this topic yesterday at about 18:00 local time. At about 18:30 I started feeling sleepy, no idea why. I thought this would be a great opportunity for me to try it. I lower the shades, darken the room to total darkness, absolutely no light in it, only sound was the humming of the computer which was still on, and some very faded music coming from my sister's room.

When I got up from the computer I turned my chair, accidentaly, towards the bed I was about to go lay in (you will see later why I consider this important to be mentioned). I go and lay down on the bed, close my eyes, empty up my mind (took me about 2 minutes to get to blank, total whiteness) and then I started visualizing myself in the farthest point of the room, compared to my position. Took my a quick time to get me positioned there and then I started concentrating on moving out of my body. Problem is, there was no light.. not one for me to notice at least. All I know is that I don't know after how long, my sound went dead. I couldn't hear anything anymore, not my computer, not my sister's music. Imediatley after this happened I started trembling like I never did. Told myself that this is normal so I kept on at it. Don't know how long this lasted but after this everything went to a total silence and relaxing state, in which someone/something called my name. I've never heard that voice. It seemed as if someone yelled my name from 500 meters a distance, yet the voice was so warm, and so familiar to me, even tho I don't recall every hearing that voice in my life. It called me once, and shortly after that I felt as if something grabbed my right shoulder and my left upper thigh and started pulling me up. Along with this feeling came a feeling simmilar to exploding. I could feel every piece of my body trying to run in it's own direction. It was like a strugle. If you toss a rubber ball down a pipe, with tremedous force, it will bounce in every direction, yet still remain in the pipe. That was the sort of feeling I had. Bouncing inside myself. At a certain moment I felt as being lifted, after which I was just standing where I was visualizing myself, close to the door, next to the computer chair. Everything looked perfectly normal. No abnormal lighting no nothing. I could see myself laying on the bed. I turned my head towards the chair and something(I must put stress on this word: SOMETHING), was sitting on it. I was like a shadow. Only the outline definition of a body, no details, only darkness. Thing is it didn't feel as if it was darkness. I looked at it, it ignored me, as it was looking at me on the bed, and when I turned my head towards the bed again, I felt myself being dragged extremely quick back in. And then I found out why it's recomended that your back side faces the surface you're on. I felt as it I had slammed into the mattres at full speed with my face front on, as I was laying down facing the mattres, not on my back. During this whole thing I lost the notion of time. 30 minutes flew by me without me even noticing. I remembered everything but 30 minutes seemed like a very long time compared to the impression duration I had in my head. For me it felt as if 5 minutes tops had passed, yet it was 30.

The reason I didn't lay on my back is because just the day before this, I got a tattoo on my left shoulder plate and I was recomended not to have it any under sort of pressure, not to sleep on it and so on. Thing is that just before me being dragged in back, I felt as if my left shoulder, more exactley the tattoo spot, was being ripped apart. Could that have the effect of a lock? Could a tattoo not allow me to move forward with this? Another peculiar feeling I had was when I was being pulled up, was as if I was pinned down to the bed in the tattoo spot. Could it influence this? Thing is that after 1 day the tattoo is mearly a wound with ink in it. So.. is it the tattoo or is it the wound?

Don't know if this was exactley AP. But I was extremely lucid before, during and after this. For me it was like going to the kitchen, having a glass of water, returning to the bedroom (time duration comparison). Any thoughts on this? Oh and also, I think that shadow was my guide or something.. socrates mentioned something about a guide.

Hey entech nice experience! It looks like your natural at AP or did AP very well thumbsup.gif . The reason the creature lifted you up by holding left thigh and right shoulder is because those points are more or less associated with AP.

---------------------------------------------------
Left thigh
(8) "I am destroying thought forms that are not for the highest good. "The energy of the thought form then dissipates. I get my orders from the spirit in the body.

Right shoulder
(9) A town or dwelling place for the National Guard of both sexes that are in reserve for our protection. Also where they eat the "food". A peaceful place.
(10) "Food" reservoir, and also a passage way leading out to (9).

thanks for bringing light over my problem..

I wish I was a natural at AP.. thing is earlier in this thread I read you must have a purpose to AP. I did have a purpose but I did not reach it. I asked a friend to write down a number on a piece of paper and hide it somewhere in her room. I was intending on doing that.. but I barely managed to get on the other side of this room. so I'm guessing I'm a long way from controling AP as I should, that is if I manage to AP again..

Even tho it hasn't been 24 hours since the last AP, I'm gonna go ahead and try again, as I got the sleepy state again.

Hello, I'm brand new here, First post. However, I took a 9 week course on Lucid Dreams and Astral Travel. At first I was on it every week, following every given instruction with No real results.
Then I got busy traveling in the band I play in and doing stagehand work (This course suggested not even listen to the type music we play) And as a stagehand I'm exposed to all music. Plus I'm on anti-depressants which they claimed made it near impossible. So I kinda just let it go. But it has never left my mind, I mean the desire to Astral Travel.
Lately almost every night I'm having Dreams that I can control. I wanted to open a door and just to see if I could I stretched my arm like 20 ft. down a side walk I was on and opened this door.
Also I flew, I just said fly and we were flying. I say we because I met this guy there who kept looking different (hair color, height and weight) every now and then. He's the one that said where do you wanna go. And we Just started flying. There we're people all around me that I couldn't really zero in on their features. I met this black girl who was very beautiful and I told her (as I believed I was in the astral) the Girl smiled and said Yes, I know. I was very attracted to her (Not in a sexual way but I wanted to talk with her) But she ran, or something went right through a door without opening it I tried half heartily to go after her but my friend Pulled me along and we ended up in a bar type setting although I don't remember anyone drinking. Although some people looked like they were bombed on some heavy drug or something and they just kinda slowly floated around. I ask the guy I was with and he laughed and said They don't even know there here.
I had a bad pain in my leg (former crushed ankle) and I woke up in my bed.
I did not mean to go on and on, I tried going to the forum I used to belong to and it was closed. I could control everything I did, but not others, when I first realised I was dreaming I was in a College cafeteria I said this is My dream I can do anything I want and control peoples responses. I picked a glass bottle of Orange drink threw it and smashed it on the wall and the guy behind the counter started screaming at me. I tried to think this is my dream shut up you're on my side, I tried to make him laugh (I've did stuff like that in the last week) this time it didn't work, he was mad and stayed mad.
Am I just dreaming? Is that what it sounds like?
Again sorry to make this so long but I have been dying to talk to someone as all my friends are pretty skeptical.
Thank You

I am very new here..well..I just joined, but I have always been reading over the forums here. So...........I just wanted to add that in my early childhood I have had this Phenomena happen once or twice, well thats as many times as my mind will allow me to remember.

I would like to try this, but I have this BIG fear of actually SEEING demons and ghostly figures..any advice for a noob such as my self? grin2.gif

You are bound to encounter some, some positive and some are negative. You will be able to discern which according to what your heart will dictate at that moment when you encounter one. Fear will fill your being if it's a negative one trying to come near you, and full peace if it's a positive one. Try to let go of everything that weighs down your person (hate, jealousy, pride, financial worries, etc) and shield your self with faith. I use real strong emotions (like anger) as key whenever it gets hard to go back or "wake-up".

Ugh.. I have two questions.

First off, I CANNOT PROJECT! I have a very short attention span, so I loose interest VERY fast. And lying on my back.. I get uncomfortable.. and I itch.. D: And I end up being so uncomfortable, I cant Project properly or I don't even come close. And its difficult for me to clear my mind -3-

Another thing, my friend is saying that if I project, I'll meet a demon for my guide. I have the transcripts! I'm Polar Bear Lion.. >o>

Italian Igloo says:
Don't
Italian Igloo says:
It's a demon <.<
Polar Bear Lion says:
You got me so paranoid last time you told me that.
Italian Igloo says:
Like 90% of the time it is, and I don't like those odds.

And he refuses to believe otherwise because of one story he saw on the internet. So, can someone clear things up for me? D:

First you should learn to get comfortable (ignore the itching .. sounds hard but its actually easy after some time) and clearing your mind which is extremely easy just dont think the more you dont think the easier it gets. Secondly why do you want to project? Do you want to have it as a power or do you want to get it in a couple days? You should want to get it as a tool to gain more wisdom or something like that trust me on this if you will want to get powers more and more powers you will become their slave and that will bring only suffering DON'T want to get it in a few days i have been trying since the start of summer and haven't done it by myself it yet i have been near projection countless times and projected 1 time but even then it wasn't me who triggered it innocent.gif .

Good luck thumbsup.gif !

Really, My main goal for projecting is just to see my love every night.. I don't get to see him that often, during school we only have lunch period together, and I don't see him allot outside of school. I'd also want to see my friend in Sweden. Somehow I feel like those aren't good reasons to project. dontgetit.gif Right now I should get comfortable fast, I took a 2hr nap on my back.. Well, my muscles are sore right now and I don't itch as much. I'm working on it!

Those feelings alone, not thinking you have good enough reasons to project, are enough to stop you from it.. Let go of your thoughts, empty your mind, and allow yourself to slip away slowly. Don't try to do it fast. Give it time. The more you hurry, the harder it will get. Patience is the key.

If you can't empty up your mind willingly, then try emptying it by filling up to the maximum. Think of something.. for example take a piece of paper. Than think of everything that relates to it: how many formats it can come in, how many colors it can come in, how many things you can do with it. Then start comparing with humans and so on. At a certain point you will snap and everything will go away leaving your mind totaly empty and wondering "what now?".Try to stay conscious, because this procedure can make you fall asleep imediatley. Just make sure you know your purpose.

Controling your mind can be hard, but once you've got it in hand, there are few things that are impossible. Keep trying.

Okieday.. last night I was trying to project. I did think about paper (after I got nice and comfy on meh back), and then instinctively turned on my back sad.gif And around 4am I woke up for some reason, and it clicked in my brain to splash water on my face. So I did, and I had to pee (I chugged a 24oz of Pepsi while watching a Disney movie before bed, for some reason blink.gif ) but I didnt do anything about it. I got all cozy and stuff, and I fell asleep thinking about paper disgust.gif

On Wednesday, September 26, at 4:30 AM CDT, while sitting in front of the computer, I began to doze off, which is not uncommon for anytime of the day, as I am a shift worker. When I sit at the computer, I normally prop my feet on top of the caster arms that extend from the base of the chair.

Before losing complete consciousness and visual acuity, I suddenly rolled across the floor for about a foot to my right. Because the chair has casters and the floor is a wood laminate, it is not surprising for the chair to suddenly roll an inch or two in any direction. If the chair had rolled an inch or two, I'm sure that I would have continued to fall asleep.

Because it seemed to have rolled such an excessive amount, I became analytical about why that had happened. At this point, I regained full consciousness and decided to push the chair back to its original position by using my right foot. As soon as I moved my right foot towards the floor, I instantaneously moved back into my body. The chair had not moved at all; it was me!

From my perspective, the illuminated monitor appeared to suddenly shift about an inch to the right. Except for the sudden movement of the monitor, I saw and felt nothing overly unusual. Besides being the smoothest conscious reentry that I have ever felt, it was the first visual reentry that I have ever saw.

Some factors that may have led to this spontaneous conscious separation:

1. Sleep deprivation
2. Dream deprivation
3. Uncomfortable position/posture
4. Uncomfortable chair
5. Reading Unexplained Mysteries Forum posts
6. Dark room
7. Dark outside
8. Analytical thinking
9. Shift worker

Im trying projection everytime i feeling sleepy.

Last time, i went to bed thinking for myself that i rly needed to focus...nevertheless i fell asleep lightly, then i woke up, but my eyes were still closed. It was like i woke up inside my head, while my body still sleeped and the first thing that came to my mind was that i needed to focus on projection, i tried and it felt like my mind sank down into my skull and like it was starting, but then it just goes to a stop, i cant get past the friggin wall of whatnot.. heelp!

I cant fully project either, but I'm gonna lay off it till I can control my mind a little bit. Like, learning not to think and whatnot. hmm.gif

I, too have been astro traveling for years although I wasn't very clear about what was happening. It scared me quite a bit the first few times. I have experiened shaking (vibrations), a rushing sound which actually sound like buzzing or a motor... it was pretty indescribable. I felt the jolt when I was waking up suddenly. (I woke up suddenly b/c I ws freaked out) I felt like there were people around me.

I suspect that I astro travel without consciously knowing about it pretty regularly. There have been a couple occasions where I woke up and I couldn't move also. The first time this happened I started praying to God saying please help me. I thought it was a alien abduction. I felt pressure holding me down. I also felt pressure at the base of my scull. Another time, at the crown of my head. I was afraid to open my eyes. Then suddenly I could move again. I talked to my dad later that day and he explained that it was astro travel. Later, I felt calm and I was intrigued. Recently, during a meditation, I have felt a sinking sensation and vibrations. (although, I was shaking... really shaking) Anyway, I definitely believe in astro travel and I want to astro travel consciously and more frequently.

But first, can you explain the purpose of Astro Travel? How can I use astro travel to benefit my life?
what was it
Hi everybody!
Its my first time being here, anyway My english is not that good but I hope u can understand it! rolleyes.gif
Well the first post was fantastic,i guess i should check it out tonight. but my question! About a month ago I read about OBE and i tought about checking it myself.I didnt know much about it but coz i was very interested in metaphysical stuff i decided to do it! it was called the rope method, imagining a rope from the ceiling and ur going up it gradually and horizontaly.I started to imagine thsi one that night.i was so tired that after 5 min i fall asleep.i saw myself going up without any control but slowly.after going up a little i started to spin and after 3 or 4 secs i experienced spining faster and faster, wow i didnt have any control.after that i felt its coming back to my body and i woke up with shock! my hands started to vibrate a little.i was so frightened that my eyes was wide open!! anyway i didnt think it will work for the first time.it was amazing but too short to have a good feeling.is this normal? can i get out easily and go around?
+ one night that i was reading about souls and the other world i wanted to sleep.i had a wierd feeling.after 5 min closing my eyes i felt my hand is jumping up and hiting the floor!! wow after a while another one! but i didnt pay attention and i slept.what was that? is it realted to OBEs? geek.gif
This site is cool.I guess i become a real fan!

The purpose of AP is to explore the spirit world gain more wisdom and talk to entity's like guides

Another experience I had a few weeks back, but never mentioned. I was dreaming that I was sitting in a car outside my house talking to my girlfriend, but then I realized it was a dream, and the first thing I thought of was AP'ing. So I got out of the car and ran towards the main window in my house because I heard if you jump through a window during a dream it's like jumping out of your body and Astral Projecting. Well anyways I remember jumping into then all of the sudden I felt a weird floating feeling and there was something different about my vision. I saw the side of my wall that was I was sleeping towards only it didn't seem dark outside. I couldn't control myself and I was just slowly turning in air when I tried to think about moving, but the I woke up no jolting or anything. So was this AP or something else?

Can I ask something?

I believe that astral projection and lucid dreaming are the same thing. Can anyone tell me the difference between having a lucid dream and an OOBE? I mean, is there any difference in perception? How malleble is the astral world compared to the dream world? Can you read in the astral world?

Good questions, Inkblot.

Unlike lucid dreaming, OBEs can occur at any time:

1. During death
2. Prior to NDEs
3. During are shortly after experiencing severe trauma, shock, horror or pain (e.g., victims of war casualties, vehicle accidents, heart attacks/strokes, man-eating predators, etc.)
4. During anesthesia, drug or pharmaceutical use, misuse, abuse or overdose
5. Before, during and after sleeping and/or dreaming
6. Meditation [TM], certain schools of yoga, and religious rituals and practices (e.g. Shamanism)

Lucid dreaming differs from OBEs in their:

1. Modes of Travel
a. Lucid dreaming involves normal acts of transportation (e.g., walking, running, driving, riding, etc.) and some abnormal acts, such as flying and soaring.
b. OBEs involve the abnormal acts of transporting, as if to suddenly appear at any location; floating; gliding, as if standing on a conveyor belt; and also, the inability to move at all.

2. Perceptions of Reality
a. Lucid dreaming appears real as it is happening but is easily dismissed as being unreal (somewhat dreamlike or hazy) after awakening.
b. OBEs appear real both during and after the event and are indiscernible from waking reality.

3. Environments
a. Lucid dreaming allows the dreamer to interact with his or her dream environment, just as if the dreamer was awake. All senses are normal and seem fully functional. The environment in malleable and may change subtly, including the identity of dream characters. The dreamer views himself or herself in a dreamed replica of his or her physical body.
b. OBEs allow the projectionist to relocate the conscious mind to a view point that is otherwise physically impossible to achieve at the time. Your environment consists of actual locations in the physical world. Matter is penetrable with little or no substance or tactile sensations. Your astral body, if it actually exists, is invisible. You have no mass and are unaffected by gravity/inertia.

Yes, you can read in the astral world, provided of course that you could read before in the physical world. wink2.gif

What is the purpose of Astro traveling? What are the benefits? Just wondering... I guess I still don't understand.

Good question. Nothing in life is here by accident. For everything, there is a reason, and for every reason there is a purpose. (I think I just made that up.) The ability to project probably dates back to a time when our earliest of ancestors used it for survival.

For example:

If you and your family are asleep at night all alone in a big tree or cave, you can still safely patrol the grounds or cave entrance for predators while everyone sleeps.

If you suffer from an unexplained accident or an attack by an unseen foe, and live to tell the tale, you can correctly identify the cause or creature for future avoidance. It's also great for getting license plate numbers of hit-and-run drivers.

You can assign any spiritual connotations to it that you wish. Many religions were founded on it.

Edit: I forgot to mention that it will change you and your outlook on life, strengthen your belief in an afterlife, and decrease your fear of death and dying.

Yes, you can read in the astral world, provided of course that you could read before in the physical world. wink2.gif

XD still no success. I guess I'll have to wait, because right now I'm lucky to get 5-6 hours of sleep a night. Last night was bad- I was out as soon as I put my head down, literally. I woke up, but I didn't realize I was awake until I was in the shower... talk about an incident of narcolepsy. I'll try again after a decent night's sleep.

You're welcome...

The information comes from personal experiences, some 30 years of research, private conversations with 3 college students and 2 coworkers, and data from various books and magazines. None of it came from newspapers, radio, TV, movies, or the Internet.

I don't remember all the books, much less all the titles, so some of the ones listed below may be incorrect. However, the authors that I do remember should be listed correctly.

Can anyone tell me the difference between having a lucid dream and an OOBE? I mean, is there any difference in perception? How malleble is the astral world compared to the dream world? Can you read in the astral world?

Here's a good Internet article that goes into more detail about OBEs and lucid dreams.

Interesting. In there, it says that intentional OBEs are cloudy and muddled, and they might even just be dreams.

Is this the passage that you are referring to?
QUOTE
In projection, two aspects can be exteriorized: in natural OBEs the soul body or the astral body is ejected free of the vehicle of vitality and the vision of the experient is clear, but when the OBE is the result of a conscious effort to have an OBE some of the lower vehicle is shed at the same time and clouds the vision.

Crookall believed that the soul (astral body) was surrounded and protected by an etheric double, which he called the 'vehicle of vitality'. Material from this vehicle supposedly makes up the so-called 'silver cord'. From this, I've always assumed that the etheric double to be the 'ghost body' and the very reason why the deceased lose about 2.5 grams after death. In this passage, he compares natural (spontaneous) OBEs to conscious (forced) OBEs. He believed that those who consciously forced an OBE would still retain a portion of the etheric double, and as a result, lose their ability to see clearly. From this, we cannot assume that he meant only those that occur during sleep or while dreaming, but I can understand how that might happen. I think that you may have misunderstood what he was getting at. Whether Crookall was correct or not, I don't give much credit to OBEs that are not crystal clear.

I made my first real attempt at astral travel last night. I followed the advice of some of the posts I saw here. However, I ran in to one significant problem. While falling asleep I tried to focus on picturing myself in another part of the room. As I began to fall into sleep and become really groggy my mind began to wander all over the place making it near impossible to focus on the one thing.

Does anyone have any suggestions for settling your mind when about to fall asleep?

That info is very recent and new to me. Good catch! (This is a good reason why we should never "assume" something.) Personally, I've never seen or felt the etheric body or the silver cord, so I can't say with any certainty that they even exist.

Based on the info in this article, I think we can safely surmise that the soul has no mass. This would explain the reason why gravity and inertia have no effect on the projectionist -- no mass, no inertia. thumbsup.gif

To some of you, the idea of astral travel, (astral projection, OBE) may seem completely insane. It did to me once too. But I decided to try it anyway, and had amazing results.

-

Astral travel has been practised throughout history - and there have been thousands of documented scientific experiements confirming that astral travel is real.
People seek therapy because they 'wake up paralyzed and rigid' (sleep paralysis, a close component of astral travel) 'Wake up and see strange beings around them' (entities found in the astral plane) 'Find themselves floating or vibrating violently, or engulfed in a bright light' (sensations felt as the astral body leaves the physical body) Some people have even gone so far as to say their astral experiences are alien encounters.

-

And, there are those who resent astral travel and/or refuse to beleive it is possible at all. Perhaps for one or more of the following reasons:

1. They beleive that astral experiences are actually dreams. (Wrong. Astral travel is a fully conscious experience, as thousands of people have confirmed worldwide.)

2. They beleive that those who claim to astral travel are under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol. (Wrong again. Drugs or Alcohol actually hinder astral travel. Furthermore, most people who astral travel began astral travelling at a very young age - 6 to 12.)

3. They beleive what people describe as an astral experience is actually an alien abduction. (Thrice wrong. Although, waking paralyzed, seeing strange entities, and being engulfed in a blinding white light may be likened to an alien abduction, such symptoms are components of the first stages of astral travel.)

4. They beleive people claim to be able to astral travel for publicity, money, or attention in general. (Indeed, some people may use astral travel for such a purpose, or claim that they are able to astral travel when in actuality they cannot. However, astral travel is an enlightening spiritual experience, and he or she who has astral travelled normally understands the importance of keeping such a controvertial hobby quiet. Furthermore, it is commonly known that if one astral travels for selfish or evil purposes, they are likely to find themselves attracting unpleasant entities.)

5. They beleive astral travel is evil, and a sin unto god. (A misconception. As said above, astral travel is a spiritually enlightening and developing experience, not an evil or sinful one. The bible actually talkes about astral travel on several occasions; it describes people as being "in the spirit" while receiving prophecy. Terminology of astral projection is also found in:

Ecclesiastes 12:6-12:7:

"Remember [your Creator] — before the silver cord is severed,
or the golden bowl is broken;
before the pitcher is shattered at the spring,
or the wheel broken at the well,
and the dust returns to the ground it came from,
and the spirit returns to God who gave it."

The passage is talking about what happens when we die.
The silver cord this passage talks about exists when one projects. It links the physical body to the astral one. Don't worry - It can only be severed if we die in the physical world. The golden bowl refers to the 'crown chakra' the main energy center of the body, used to project. Biblical Scholars attribute these lines to astral projection or the astral body in general.

Those are some of the more common reasons people resent or refuse to beleive astral travel is possible. Hopefully I have cleared up some of the myths associated with this phenomena.

-

Here is a technique for astral travel. I bluntly call it the '4 in the morning technique' I have tried many methods over the past two years, and this one had the best results. I have written it out in steps. It involves getting up at 4 o'clock in the morning - a little extra effort, but it is by far worth it. The reasons for waking up at 4 in the morning are:

- You will be drowsy and it will be easier to clear your head.
- You will drift off to sleep much faster.
- You will have gotten up for a purpose; your body and mind will be tuned to what you are trying to achieve.

A note to those who are skeptical about astral travel but still wish to try it: You must keep an open mind while attempting to project. Any negative thoughts or feelings will certainly hold you back. Stay positive, open, and willing.

The technique is as follows:

Set your alarm for 4 o'clock in the morning.

Allow yourself to drift asleep.

At four in the morning, the alarm will wake you. Get out of bed turn on the light, and splash water on your face. Dry your face with a towell.

After about two minutes, get back in bed. Lie on your back.

You will most likely be feeling groggy and tired. Your mind will be eager to get back to sleep.

Close your eyes, and clear your mind. This should be easy because you are so tired.

Now, imagine you are standing somewhere in your room. Perhaps in the far corner. Vividly see yourself standing there. Know that you are standing there, and that your body is still lying on the bed. Focus your whole mind on this concept.

While working on that, begin a simple affirmation in your head. "I am going to astral travel. I am going to leave my body." Say it in your head, over and over, while imagining you are on the other side of the room.

While you are doing this, you will begin to drift back to sleep. Slowly, your mind will begin to cloud. Make sure that the concept of standing elsewhere in your room is the last thing that goes through your mind before you are asleep.

You may experience one or more of the following sensations:

- Floating
- Sinking
- Vibrations
- A bright white/blue light
- A rushing or popping sound
- Starnge noises; someone calling your name
- A jolt

If you experience one or more of these sensations for the first time, it may be frightening. But know that they are positive signs; signs that let you know you're about to project.
Almost always, apon feeling a strange sensation, the person trying to project gets such a fright that he/she is jolted back into their body. If this happens to you, allow yourself to fall asleep and try again the next night, knowing presently that there is nothing to fear.

If you find yourself outside your body, do not stay out for too long the first time. Float about your room, become used to the physics of the astral plane, and then will yourself back into your body. You can start exploring after a 24 hour break. There may be a guide waiting for you. This guide will watch over you and take you where you please. Talk briefly with the guide, and say you will project again in 24 hours.

When 24 hours pass, you will be ready to explore and venture further than your room. You may not even have to use drifting off to sleep as a medium for astral travel.

If, after several attempts, you still have not projected, do not be detered. It is likely you will have felt some of the sensations above while trying, and this is a positive sign. You must remember that it is a matter of willpower. You can't just casually attempt to project in a one-off scenario. Think about astral travel throughout the day. Buy a book on astral travel. Attempt to astral travel everynight. Eventually, I gurantee, you will get out.

-

That's all I have time for at the moment. If you have any questions about the technique I listed, or about astral travel or the astral plane, send me a PM. I will be happy to help.

hi socrates, I have been interested in astral projection for a long time now, have read various books on the subject, but find that most if not all the techniques, (at least the ones i have read) are very drawn out and tedious, your one seems very interesting, and i will try it out, and will let you know how i get on, i do have one reservation however, a friend of mine claimed he could do astral projection (although to a different technique) by himself and with his girlfriend, however he stopped doing it through something that scared him, he said that something evil chased him, (it was enough for him to never do it again) I have spoken to my girlfriend about this, who is into all manner of things spiritual, and she reckons that you need to protect/ground yourself ie: ask the angels/god/the light of heaven/guides etc for thier guidance and protection.........what are your thoughts on this if you don't mind me asking

QUOTE(Socrates @ Jan 29 2006, 10:28 PM) *
Hey Spikester,

Don't worry. This is a myth and common misconception. The news network must have been pretty short on stories to come up with something like that! There have been no recorded instances of death through astral travel, and there will be none in the future. It is impossible to get lost in the astral plane. For one thing, your physical body and astral body are connected by an etheric cord which cannot be damaged in any way, and for another, you will be jolted back into your physical body if even the slightest threat arises. People often find themselves pulled back into their bodies when they venture too far - being unable to find one's body is simply an impossibility.

There is no correct way. As long as a way works, it does just fine. So, don't worry, stay positive, give it a try, and you'll see for yourself there's nothing to fear.

Good luck! original.gif

Socrates,

I have heard of your 4:00 am version of AP. I have found it to be rather an effective technique as well, It is much easier for your body to slip into and astral state (for me) because of not having to deal with the problems associated with having to deal with whatever the stresses each day may of held. Now granted my "flight plan" as it were has been limited to my own rooms, I have not managed to venture outside of my comfort zone. But I think that has more to do with my own self-placed fears, than the inability to go past any one point, in space.

My question to you is, have you heard of any instance in which AP and PLR ( Past Life Regression ) have been combined to reach a destination outside of the normal space in time?

Thanks for your insight into this matter

TruBeliever

P.S. I don't think I would continue to list Ms. Browne a viable source of research. One because of her controversial nature, and the second for totally personal reasons. original.gif ~Tru

Is this astral projection or just odd dreams?

Sound's like lucid dreaming by the way AP is possible through lucid dreams

I'm probably a lot younger than many on this site as well, I just seem to get interested in these sort of things. I'm not any kind of expert on astral travel, nor have I ever succeeded in my many attempts, (still not giving up!) but... It sounds more like a lucid dream rather than astral travel. If you don't know what a lucid dream is it's when you actually realize you're dreaming and you can either control what happens in your dream, your movements, or just knowing you're asleep. I might be able to tell you if you tell me how real it feels. I mean, when you remember back, did it feel fake? Or did it feel just as real as waking life? Or it could be just an odd dream, normal dream.

EDIT: Looks like someone answered while I was typing
-----------
On my point, I've been trying astral travel for some time, perhaps two months, and I've tried every night except for one. My technique is to completely stretch every single muscle in my body till all the tension is gone. I lie on my back because I know I get extremely drowsy, but I don't ever really fall asleep. Then I close my eyes and stare into the black void and let it be all I think about. This usually goes on for an hour (insomniac rolleyes.gif) and then I've had a few strange effects begin to happen. I start to loose the feeling in my entire body, and a few minutes after that, there's a lot of unexplained heat (not extreme, just pleasant) in my hands and arms. It then starts traveling upwards and gathers in my head and then heart pounds like I've never known it too. The loss of feeling's no surprise, but I've never heard of anyone talking about the heat I feel on some attempts.
If someone could explain that to me, I'm just curious.
Vilius
The heat you fell is energy it seems to be more of a meditation than AP since the energy gathers at your head where does exactly it gathers? Since you stare into the black void you empower your third eye which will result in an excellent dream recall or even lucid dreaming , AP my advice to you if you chose this method know that the last two can happen but dont expect it. However this method might take longer to achieve , been doing the same thing for a few months now and haven't consciously projected yet.
(Moonlight)
Actually I haven't been doing the same thing, I've only just figured out that this one seems to be giving me something. I can't do the Monroe Technique, I just can't make it out.

You're right too, I have been dreaming a lot more clearly since I started this technique. I can seem to recall them fairly easily compared to before, where it was just a scrambled mess of a few images.

Yeah, now that you explain the heat, it seems to make sense. The heat just gathers in my entire head from about nose and upwards. I think the loss of feeling is just my body going to sleep.

Thanks Vilius, that's good to know. You've just told me more than many other articles.

It's 11:11pm, better go to bed and make another attempt wink2.gif I may think about changing to a different technique tomorrow.
Vilius
No problem im happy to help happy.gif (very good karma powahh tongue.gif !)

Today while i was meditating i had a few weird effects i felt a line from sacral to left shoulder blade (maybe some nadi) i felt like my right foot would be touching my left palm also i almost projected (thru crown) but i lost it as always -.0 ................. disgust.gif

I'm still leaning towards lucid dreaming, it does seem like it more than anything. If it was astral travel, I'm pretty sure you'd really know it.
Cool, I wish I could dream things like that, all I ever seem to get are ones where I'm being chased by various weird-looking monsters and ones that are just plain strange.
______
I've actually realized that I've only had strange things with the black void since I mysteriously fainted in a cue at the Show. The paramedics couldn't even tell what caused it, and it was the first time anything had actually happened in an attempt.

I'm sure you need a good dream recall to remember AP's maybe the brainwaves when Ap'ing are the same as they would be then sleeping?

The black void method is also able to remove nightmares cant remember the last time i had a nightmare had a dream with a monster in it but i was chasing it tongue.gif

Wow Socrates.. Good Post..

This has happened to me so many times it's almost unbelievable.. It's usually a feeling of floating and then there is a feeling of another being in the room.. that's when in the past it has always started to freak me out big time, because i know that it wasn't quite a dream because I was awake enough to actually know things that were going on in the real world.

Whenever this sort of thing has happened in the past (honestly about 3 times a week) I'm actually able to get a mumble/scream out to my girlfriend who then wakes me up and the paralysis that was apparent at the same time as the entity is able to go away once she "yanks me back in my body." or so to speak.

Do you have any tips for me specifically? I'm definitely going to try some of the things you brought up, but i was wondering what my experience sounded like to you.
It's really hard to not be freaked out feeling that there's a presence in the room, especially when it seems more like an intruder than something good.

Do you think i'm beginning to astral travel, but am keeping myself back?

Thanks for your help! I'll certainly be more open minded about this sort of thing.

(I'm a big time skeptic and pessimist, so it's a bit tricky to convince myself of the possibility of these things.) grin2.gif

After a few attempts I seem to be improving at settling my mind.

Now the problem is that while focusing on leaving my body next thing I know I'm waking up hours later. From what I've gather AP doesn't happen after falling asleep only moments before. Also, I've noticed that since I began attempting AP my dream clarity has severely decreased.

Any Ideas?
