How exactly does it help your energy?? Also is there a possibility that you could die from doing something like this or get in contact with evil spirits? That's the frightening thing to me...

It should. In my opinion i don't think you should be trying it unless you have done research on it, learn ways to defend yourself, fear will attract spirits to you. So read, learn, know whats out there before you try to set foot in all of it. Knowledge is power.

VaporTrail, I have been reading a coupla books on this topic and have read into the science of it(still practicing on mine though-got one once but hard to get them at will) First I want to clear a few things up...any thing I have stated hear has been deeply researched by the Canterbury Institute which has documented and recorded of 20,000 intentional astral trips, not including those of people who have sent in letters recounting their own experiences...
1.You have an astral trip every time you go to sleep, in the delta or deep sleep cycles between dreams. However, because of the low frequency of your brain it is difficult to retain memory of these without practice. to do this you just need to wake up 75 min after you go to sleep and then write down whatever you can remember. wake up to something soft, not a hard alarm clock.
2. You hear a whooshing sound when you leave your body? This can really help you get out at will. Whenever you wake up and feel you are trying to leave your body, just imagine as intently as you can this whooshing sound and try to drift apart from your body(if need be imagine an astral double- an exact replica of your body, floating above you...This can also help you travel when you are not sleeping, but that is for a different post...
3. THERE ARE NO SUCH THINGS AS DEMONS OR HELL!!! As far as the institutes research goes, nothing bad or negative has been found to exist in the astral world, except for 2 cases, and in each case the people were accomplished travelers who has very preset notions of how the astral plane is. Also, no summoning of demons, sry:(.
4.The Astral Realm is no different from our world. It is actually us traveling through the real or mundane world with our spirits. Thus anything in the real world we will have little or no effect on us and they will just pass right through us, not harming us.
5.You can travel to the future or the past. Just project yourself into the future or the past in the year or date or whatever that you want to be and poof! there you are. YOu cannot affect ANYTHING in the past, however. Also, you may find your time travel abilities a little flaky, aka not being able to go to some time zones or months or years etc. This is constantly changing as time is continuing.
6. You can imagine anything you want and it will happen *winkwink*. However usually you will go inside your mind for it to happen. IF you want to go back to the astral plane, I think(this is just my hypothesis)YOu can just 'project' yourself back.
Enjoy!

Cool a forum about this. I believe that I've had quite a few OBE's (maybe around 30 my entire life, I'm 20), and reading this topic, I'd have to say I agree very much w/ the topic creator on how to do this. Most of mine have been after waking up in the middle of the night or early in the morning. I had my latest one two nights ago.
Much of the time, when I attempt to do this, I get stuck w/ paralysis or I cannot see anything. I think I finally figured out the secret to getting out of this last time, though. Usually when I first get into it, I'm not really sure whether I'm dreaming or what, but I sort of realize that I could be trying to project myself out of my body. The only reason it usually doesn't work, is because I believe that if I'm gonna open my eyes, I'll wake up. Well I just shouted to myself to open my eyes, and I could see my room, but I was still stuck in my body. So to get out of this, I tried to fly straight up and out, but it rarely works for me. So then I tried getting out of my bed, and that seemed to have broken the paralysis.
Then I thought to myself, "hell yeah, I'm doing it again, let's go somewhere cool," And everything turned black for a second and I usually hear a vibrating/wooshing sound (this is what always happens to me when I project to somewhere else). When I was able to see again, I was floating above my neighborhood and trying to figure out moving around and what have you.
I didn't really see much, just some kid walking down the street, but he didn't respond to anything I said.
I really need to learn to control this more, as these "dreams" are among the most fascinating moments in my life and I really want to explore this unknown world further.

IF you to do it without falling asleep, here is what I have found...
Just lay in bed or somewhere comfortable. Make sure you are in no way uncomfortable...make sure all your immediate needs are fulfilled but not excessively so. No overeating, etc.
Just before you leave your body when you are asleep, you should experience some kind of signal or sensory input that is consistent with each exit.
Now think of a need, an urgent need that requires you, compells you, to leave the mundane world and go into the astral. imagine that need, and then, after about 30 seconds, switch to trying to imagine as vivdly as possible, your signal. After 30 second, switch again. Continue this for about 5 minutes. Now your mind should be fairly tired. Now imagine even more vivdly your signal, try to make it real to you. Also, you could imagine your astral twin(the body you use when you travel) forming or you leaving your body and floating around. This should cause an astral projection.
Apparently you need some kind of psychic protection- a salt water circle around you blessed with an incantation, Im not so sure. Anyway,
have fun!!!

Not exactly. Getting exited that you're going to succeed in projecting is the greatest threat for successful astral projection.
Also i saw some dude saying that there are no demons (well negs) and there isn't any hell. Well i believe that the writers of the bible could ap since they said things like: i was in the spirit. The bible says that there is a hell , a burning lake of sulfur foggy red in color... actually other religions also describe their hell kinda like the bible. I astral projected! I was taking a nap then i woke up i suddenly lost sense of everything around me and was sent through a blue/white tunnel to nothing where was this music tzititu playing after about 10seconds i exited the tunnel and saw the same view like if i would have my eyes open but this one was covered some red fog i understood that i appeared in Naraka the lowest astral plane some kind of a small creature jumped appeared before me its upper part was glowing blue i wanted to touch it so i tried moving my arm and it detached from my physical arm and passed right through the creature the creature flew away then.
As i further detached my pineal gland jumped up and down the i moved my head i saw my father standing next to me that probably was a neg because after a few seconds he grew some kind of horrific jaws and i was sent back to my body.

A little note for those afraid of seeing other beings:
I'm sure you've all seen the strangest, and also at time scaries, type of beings in your dreams, and nighmares. But you always wake up fine, perhaps alittle startled, but still fine and living.
Pretty much goes for astral projection, you may find yourself facing other beings, but in the end you'll get back to your body and "wake up" and be back here in "reality" as you always do when waking up from a dream.
So, you should not be more afraid of astral projecting than dreaming, actually the opposite, as in astral projections you are the one with the control, you decide where to go, if you meet any beings you dont like, fly away and go somewhere else or back to your body.
And in my personal experience, scary astral projections have been very few. I've been doing this for more than a decade, almost 15 years, and I can count on one hand the amounts of scary episodes. Most of the time its wonderful and exciting and very interesting, imagine the possibilities, the places you can go, all you can see and explore and experience! It is such a true amazing thing to do that you are really missing something if you don't give it a try, remember, there is nothing to fear but fear itself, and once you know that you'll feel safer. In the astral plane, you have other powers than here, you have magical sorcerer fantasy movie type of powers, you can make magical shields around you, create flaming swords in your hands, you can even warp through time and space and end up in the most wonderful places, if you just go for it.
Best of luck, and have a great journey!

Hm I tried again last night to project and I think I might be making progress. I thought of myself being "pulled" towards the ceiling, and also did the self suggestion, "When I fall asleep Im going to be outside of my body"
My whole body then started vibrating it seemed like, and I heard a lot of weird noises such as whooshing and I could've sworn I heard my name whispered a few times. It startled me, but I kept on and the feeling got even more and more pronounced, and then my phone freakin rang. Then the feeling instantly died. Damn girlfriend! Im going to try again tonight! With my phone OFF!

This is really different what should I do? Everytime I feel myself spinning I stop spinning after a while and then I fall asleep.

If we imagine it, dwell on it, dream about it and believe in it, it becomes real for us. If enough people do the same, it sometimes becomes introduced into our physical reality. It's been called many names, such as creativity, evolution, invention, revolution, magic, miracles, thought forms, 100th monkey, as above so below, etc. But it may just be a crazy, powerful quirk of intelligent life.
The paranormal may be examples of these "works" in progress. They haven't yet found their niches in nature. They can't fully satisfy all present physical laws. If and when they do, they become "normal". If you've seen the movie "The Sphere" and listened carefully to the view points of the three actors during their conversation at the end, then you know what I'm talking about.
If we fear spiders and snakes, we will see them more often than those who don't. If we fear the presence of demons and other evil entities on higher planes, then we create them there. It doesn't take much imagination to see the similarities between these worlds, and the undiscovered laws that work within and between them.
If 10 to 20 percent of all humans have had OBEs, why is that historical records do not mention their ability to see their own physical bodies? History is replete with OBEs and OBE-related phenomena, but only in the last 120 years or so does it give examples of seeing one's own body. I would think that it would be important enough to write down. If I'm wrong, please let me know. Otherwise, OBEs may be a work in progress -- something that we are not discovering, but are continually creating.

Almost got out last night...Woke up at 4 in the morning, couldn;'t get back to sleep...So I tried to project...At first I spent like 8-10 mins doin breathing to try and concentrate...I usually don't do that, I get to bored...But after like 10 mins, I felt a real relaxing feeling...Almost as if I was in another state of consciousness...I tried the "rope" method of projecting...As soon as I did, I heard a weird pop...nd my head felt light, and I felt like I was starting to float...I had to stop though, cause the vibrations were to highly concentrated in my head, and they wouldn;t spread out...Gonna try again tonight...

I'm having a problem with projecting, and I was wondering if anyone here can help.
I've been trying for a little over a year now, and I have had no success. I've tried just about every method that I've come across to achieve an OBE, but to no avail. I've tried the fixed-point, moving-poing, and rope methods. Visualization too. I've also tried Ziggy's method a few times, and still nothing. The farthest I've ever gotten is just entering the vibrational stage. Only parts of my body will vibrate, then nothing. Sometimes it's the legs, other times the head and maybe an arm, yet other times my hands, etc. It's not that I have cold feet about the whole thing. This is something that I've been wanting and fully willing to do ever since I've heard about it. Yet, every time, no results.
So, I turn to you, experienced and learning travellers. I need help. I need...I need...something. I realize that no one method works for 100% of the people 100% of the time. But I'm at a wall I just can't seem to break through. Positive reinforcement and persistence have failed me so far, but I adamantly refuse to give up just yet.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi everyone. I have been interested in astral projection for years, but I have a slight problem. XP
Okay, usually, I will do the attempt myself. Which is all well and good, and I'll reach the vibrational state, and sometimes at that point I won't get anywhere, and then other times I'll get out of my body, and so on and so forth.
The problem is... sometimes it feels like I'm being dragged out. Or something is attempting to drag me out of my body. :\ I have no control over it whatsoever, and it scares me. I don't know where it wants to take me, and I'm too scared to find out. So on these occassions, I will literally hang on to my bed (or something, I'm not sure how it works in the astral state

), and hold on for my dear life in order to not have an OBE. Which is unheard of for me, since I love doing them when I can, which, sadly, is not often.
So... has anyone else had this happen to them? I do ask for forgiveness, because I did not read through this entire thread, although I would like to just for references and for information, but I have not done so yet. A lot of posts in here...

... ;P
Anyways, I have already made up my mind to just go along with it in the future if it were to happen again, but it literally frightens me because I have no idea what it is. Is it somehow myself doing it? Or something else? And if it is something else, what could it be?
Thanks for any help or theories.

Hi!
I've gone through a bunch of the pages on the thread and I'd become so excited about this topic, I just had to try it right away. I went n layed down and began to concentrate super hard, it didn't take long for the jolt and then shortly after I felt like my heart beat was speeding up and getting really loud. I began to sweat and then stopped after I saw a pair or vivid very clear eyes... not scary eyes..
baby blue eyes, soft eyes. I might also mention that my father passed away in October of 07' (he has baby blue eyes) I am very very open to this, I believe in everything I've read and heard. This is a great thing. For anyone who is skeptic, Try this! Even if you
fail, try again. It is something very freeing.
I have a question though.. Kinda silly..
If you get out of your body can you see your astral body.. and is it clothed in whatever you are sleeping in? so lets say you sleep in the nude, Do the entities that you meet, see you in the nude? lol
Just some food for thought.
Thank you guys for all the info!

Well I gave it a try with ziggy's method and with anyone i found on this thread. When I went to bed I was really tired and tried to do it. I could feel the vibrations but at first it was only on my right hand (i had tried a few times and it hadn't worked so i was focusing on my hand to see what would happen) it felt as if my hand had split and I visualized my astral hand pulling the other parts of my astral body out of my real body (weird sounding, i know

) but it was starting to work and I got my arms and legs loose and my body. It felt as if I was floating up but my head seemed kinda locked down and I couldn't get completely out. Does anyone have any suggesting to help me with this?

Oh geez, I have the same problem as you. ;P
I can easily induce the vibrations, and a lot of times move my astral arm around, but when it comes to getting my head up, it's like rooted to the spot. XP And the vibrations are pounding in my head the more I concentrate on getting out, which makes me think I'm trying too hard. Ironically, the only time I can really get out is when I don't care if I get out or not. If I just lay there all passively and just go with it, I'm more likely to get out of my body. If I actually try, my whole head will buzz and just give me this incredible headache. XP It's almost like if you want something too much, it's harder to get, but if you just be patient and let things go at their own pace, it'll prove to be much more effective.
Another thing that I can recommend, which has worked with me before, is... it's actually kind of silly and akin to the laughing uncle on Mary Poppins

, or perhaps the whole Peter Pan routine, but I think it actually works. Anyways, but when you get the vibrations, if you think about something really happy, like how much fun it'll be to get out of your body, or happy memories of your boyfriend/girlfriend/wife/husband, when you got your first puppy, going on a fun trip/vacation, etc., just something that makes you feel elated, it'll be more likely to make your whole body feel lighter for some reason. At least for me. Kind of like the pun 'being in high spirits'. ;P
Anyways, I wish you well on your adventures.

Keep us informed.

Wow...
Best Astral Experience yet!
Last night, I was kinda upset and worried(Somethin with me girlfriend and her loser parents) Anyways, I fell asleep 'round 10pm...I woke up durin the middle of the night, I have no idea when...But I didn't even open my eyes, and I was still in that state you're in when you just wake up, where you can create very vivid images in you're head, and you can induce sensations such as spinning or moving easily...Its the state I try to project in the most, but I'm not ever aware enough in that state to try...but anyways, I think to myself "Minus well try to project." And as soon as I thought that, I instantly felt this huge amount of pressure on me, and I heard this wooshing sound. The pressure was just insane, It felt as if it was holding me against my bed. I could of gotten out I think, but I wanted to see what would happen if I tried to move. So I tried, and I still heard the wooshing, and it felt like I was bein held down. I was then able to move a little up out of my bed, but it was insanely hard. It was takeing all I could to move. So I got half way out of my bed and then I blacked out and went into a dream. I then remember I woke up later, in the same state. And usually it takes me a few hours to remember my astral experiences, but this time I instantly remembered it. I then thought about that wooshing sound I heard, and as soon as I did I felt the pressure again. This time stronger than before, I blacked out about 10 seconds afterwords....
It was jus really weird...

Wow, over 200 pages and this thread is still alive! If that's not an accomplishment i don't know what is! Okay, so maybe I have low expectations for accomplishments lol.

You can either see your physical body or not. In either case you can just force yourself to see/make-it-transparent
The lower planes are similar to earth but as you go higher it gets more weird

Hey Vilius, good to see you hear helping people out. Nice job. I have had little opportunity to post on here or on Ascension these last few months. As a result, Ascension has been taken offline until I have the time to maintain it.
Meanwhile, I have been experimenting with a new technique to attain projection which I think many people will be anxious to try. I will post it when I find the time.

Greetings all.
I am relatively new to the board. Needles to say, this thread has peaked my interest.
I have been interested in "astral projection" for a couple years now. Originally I was not just skeptic but a complete disbeliever until my first "Out-of-Body Experience." I could go into detail, however the purpose of this post is not to describe my experience or to explain why I am no longer skeptic. The reason for this post is to inquire about my most recent projection.
As I am a novice in this field and have only successfully projected a few times, the most recent was the most odd. You see like always I was only "out" for an extremely short time, however unlike the other times I could feel. I mean I could literally feel textures and temperatures as if I were still in my body. For instance, when I left my body--which, oddly enough was feet-first this time--I bounced off the wall a bit once I was out. Not only did I bounce off, but I could feel the blinds in the window and the wood-paneling of the wall. I felt their smooth textures, and cool temperature. Not only that, but I could feel the rough ceiling with my "feet." I could feel all of these things, and I even remember some degree of pain before forcing myself back into this shell.
So the question is:
Are sensations of touch and pain normal or common when projecting?
As I have previously stated, I am "new" to this so this anomaly may be a normal occurrence, however I felt it necessary to at least ask.
I am thankful to all who give this post attention.

Hey everyone,
I've been interested in Astral Projection for a while and have practiced it on and off for a few years (with no success)

I think your technique is great Ziggy and I have tried it once, but ended up falling asleep. Whenever I put myself in a trance state I can get as far as a tingling feeling on my arms, etc. but cannot get out of my body or even get into a deep trance.
Do you guys have any advice for what I can do to give myself the final push into the astral?
Thanks!

this might sound wierd, but i thought i was being held down in bed by a ghost, but it seems it was astral projection. heres the story:
i moved into my boyfriends house, i ended up getting laid off from work, and so in the mornings my boyfriend would wake up, and go to work. in the process i would wake up just enough to say goodbye an go back to sleep, little did i know this would provoke astral projection. we have a ghost in the house, but its quiet an keeps to itself really. but one morning he left for work as usual and i was awoke an couldnt move, i felt this energy behind me beside the bed and thought i was being held down, but in fact the ghost just so happend to be there watching me sleep as i started astral projecting, and feeling the ghosts presence at the same time being new to astral projecting i was caught in a stuggle not knowing whats going on. i thought i was caught in a dream, so looking upon my two 'physical' hands next to each other i tried using my right hand to smack the other one to wake myself up, but what happend was my 'astral' hand came out of my physical hand an smacked the other hand! upon this i was freaked out even more. and the next morning similar thing happend i woke up an couldnt move but felt this ghosts energy next to me an struggled to snapped out of it.
so next morning when my boyfriend left for work i decided to sleep on the couch an see what happens, same thing. only this time i actually seen the ghost in the form of a black orb , it was whispering something to me but i couldnt understand, though it sounded female and not threatening, though i was scared anyway. after that i researched to see what was happening to me and i came to a conclusion, this ghost must have gotten used to watching me sleep unnoticed, and i probibly "caught" him by astral projecting so suddenly, and the ghost was probibly like oh she can see me, i gotta go talk to her ! so this explains why i felt the ghost energy at the same time of going through the astral projecting thing.
anyways when i snapped out of it i told the ghost (even though i couldnt see it anymore) not to bother me anymore, that i was going to practice astral projecting and did not want it around because it was scareing me. and i havent seen it since. although im still experieceing astral projecting, i havent tried leaving the couch yet i experince everything while on the couch because im afraid to go far, this morning was interesting, i put my hands up to my face but could see right through them, but at the same time i could feel that my hands while they were doing that. i just experimented moveing my legs , curling up an such. but then i thought, i wonder what the couch "feels" like? as i was lying on this couch it has a very rough pattern on it (without a sheet on its quite itchy) i ran my astral hand across the couch to see what it would feel like and i will try to describe it, its as if you have a cold or flu,it was very sensitive an a bit too much as if i had the flu, (but not in a sickening way) just that sensitive too much feeling, you know what i mean?
i also was having a hard time "snapping out of it" as i tried waking up it took me a bit, its not like i got it on the first try which concerned me , though im new at this. its like i had to struggle to will my way back to consiousness, is that normal? and i was afraid to leave the couch because i didnt want to run into that ghost, if i try walking around can that ghost hurt me? am i as powerful as that ghost? also if i wanna go outside do i just walk through the door? if its anything like feeling the couch it might be too overwhelming i would think.
so my greatest concern is these ghosts im obviously going to run into and wonder about conflicts? how vulnerible i am? and what you do when it happends?
i also have a sketch of the black orb i saw that one time if your interested in seeing it
let me note, this astral projection thing happens pretty much every work day mon-fri. without trying, actually it happends even when i try very hard not to, but as soon as i drift to sleep its like it happends whether i like it or not, this morning for example i really wanted some extra sleep, but instead i astral projected an now im a bit more tired then i was even when i first woke up lol
