hey, i've always wondered about how cryptozoologists find work. is there any institutes, firms or laboratories that have sections dedicated to cryptozoology? who do they go to to get funding for work and expeditions? are they told what to research or decide on their own? i'm somewhat confused as to how the entire system operates with cryptozoologists (as well as biologists and zoologists in general) and would appreciate if anyone can make things clear to me.

As far as I have read most self claimed Cryptozoologist have regular jobs. At least that is how I have understood it.

I believe that most have jobs outside the cryptozoology field. There are some instances where schools have fledgling Cryptozoology fields in their biology department so from that angle they could federal and state grants. (geared for the class etc)

I imagine they could also go on 'hunts' where they can invite and charge people to go with them in hope of finding whichever cryptid they are searching for.

And of course they could always write a book, those subjects still fascinate people on both sides of the fence. Believers will buy the book to fuel their belief in that particular cryptid. Sceptics would bring attention to the book by either purchasing it or ridiculing the material causing someones interest to be perked buying the book for themselves.

Haven't run into any 'help wanted' ads for Cryptozoologists yet.

so are there instances where cryptozoologists are told what to research and whatnot in the place that they work? for that matter, what kind of working environments other than freelance are available to cryptozoologists and biologists alike? laboratories etc? it all seems very ambiguous

No worries. Many of us are crypto-hunters at heart. I for one, would gladly leave work and head off to Crypto-Slavia and look for unknown critters. Alas, bills have te be paid, deadlines have to be met, and regular daily civilian life TRULY SUCKS!!!!!! w00t.gif
