According to a job listing at Creative Heads, an associate sponsor for the D.I.C.E Summit 2006 held next month in Nevada, Midway Studios of Austin is looking for a Level Layout Designer for a first-person shooter slated all three next-generation consoles.

From the Web site:
"Midway-Studios Austin has exciting opportunities for Level Layout Designers to apply their specialized skills on a high profile, next-generation first-person shooter using the Unreal 3 engine. You will be instrumental in visualizing game levels, and working under the direction of the Lead Level Designer. You will work within a level strike team, with a scripter, an audio implementer, and environment artists, to turn your dream into a reality."

Up until this point, it could not be determined whether or not the Nintendo Revolution would have the technical capacity to handle Epic Games' Unreal 3 Engine. However, given that Midway is planning development of this game on all three next-generation platforms utilizing the middleware, it would seem Nintendo's next console does have the ability to handle Unreal 3. Of course, this comes without official confirmation from Nintendo.

The job listing page can be found here.

Stay tuned to Revolution Report for more details on Midway's games as they come to fruition.

So, it is very likely that the Rev will look better than the GBA. grin2.gif

I was just reading about this when I was looking some Nintendo news and I must say that is quite exciting. A FPS utilising the unique controller of the Revolution would be very interesing indeed. Although its unclear whether they would attempt it for this game as it would require far more work being done on the Revolution version of the game. Plus far more money.

I don't think it'd increase the budget a ton, I'd just take time to implement. If they don't, then that's okay. Ubisoft is still working on theirs.

The game is a unnamed Midway FPS that runs on the Unreal 3 graphics engine. It is not Unreal Tournament.
