Oh I adore great danes. My friend has one named Sam and he is just a lover boy. He is very well behaved (which is a must since his head can literally rest on the counter top or table top. It's funny because she also has a grown kiity and a new tiny kitty. The new tiny kitty and Sam are so hysterical together. I laughed so hard during my last visit. The new kitty (I think she went with zoom for a name - very good choice) is just full of spit and vinegar with Sam. She's like the size of his mouth (not his head; his mouth) and she OWNS HIM. LMAO. Sam is such a good big poopie; he's like - damn cat; going to find some solitude somewhere else in the house and saunters off. Now I'm 5'10 and even being that tall, Sam is still quite HUGE. Almost like a small pony. So, if you have the room, I'd say go for it. They are lovable and loyal and their bark with keep strangers away for sure! I also like Bull Mastiff's but I'm not ready for another dog, I already have 2 labradors.

PS: you may want to try a local rescue or shelter. Usually Great danes become too big for the original owners and you could possibly adopt one. Just a thought.

i cought a fox when i was a kid, brought it home, fed it, than as soon my grandfather opened the door, it ran out, and i never saw it again, it did leave me few bite marks to remember it by.
since than i never brought exotic animals home, now i got overgrown britanny, he is 23 inches at the shoulder (20 is the norm) and 50lb(35 is the norm),

We are babysitting a Great Dane this week. He's less than six months old and already over 70lbs. He's a wonderful companion for our Lab, they're so different but they get along great! We're already plotting ways to kidnap him. innocent.gif

Awww!!!

They had some fun today, it was rainy and they didn't get their outside playtime in so they got rid of their energy inside playing bitey face. No dogs were injured during the filming of these errr.. pictures. laugh.gif They had a blast and passed right out after about an hour of goofing around:

She-ra, just curious, how did you come about owning a panther, if you don't mind me asking? That definately qualifies as an unusual pet! yes.gif
