Why people wish to abuse their bodies like this I will trully never understand but it is their body and they have the right to do with it however they wish.

It's gotten some attention around here. I've seen a couple girls around with it. I don't think it'd feel too pleasent though.

Did a quick search and a found a gallery of pictures of such piercings:
LinkMy back is just fine how it is, I think.

I was actually going to get that done, but that was when I wanted to cause myself as much pain as possible

But now that I no longer wish to do that, I ain't gettin' it done

What about the scarring and possible infections??

it is rather pretty... but i do believe i would rather just wear a regular corset and save myself the pain. getting my ears pierced was annoying as is, what with having to clean them and worry about infections and such...

I would think that would be annoying if you actually wore a shirt or pants/skirt that would come up to your waist.
It is very pretty - and probably wouldn't hurt all that much - just rings pierced through the skin.
I've seen people with ribbons of metal woven through their skin like the ribbon is.

My 13 year old neice is into the 'goth' look. One of her friends told her, 'I like pain!' to which my neice replied, 'I like cookies!'.
I am so glad I have no tattoos and no piercings.

Interesting look, but I wouldn't be able to reach around to tie it, and it would probably annoy my hubby asking him to do it every time I wanted to change to a different color ribbon.

I wouldn't think you'd tie the ribbon all that tight. It doesn't look like the girl's skin is really being pulled. I guess you might feel a little tugging when you stretch sideways, but I wouldn't think it would hurt much.
I mean, besides the being jabbed with big needles about 20 times and getting the rings put in.

Whatever one personally wants to do with or to ones own body is up to that person.

I have pierced ears and I'm always catching the sleepers when brushing my hair, it doesn't really hurt, just a tugging sensation as the holes are healed. If the piercings were very recent I would imagine it would hurt somewhat running the ribbon through, but not once they'd properly healed. Saying that I won't be getting that corset piercing done LOL I'll stick with my ear piercings I think...

New trend? This has been common in piercing and BDSM circles for 10+ years.

Yeah i've seen this before alot. Not something i would particularly consider desirable in someone myself.
It's a new trend to the mainstream, definately.

I've seen this on a few people around here. It looks pretty, but I will admit the first thing I thought was "what if they got into a fight" I mean, wouldn't that be the first thing you would go after? I know I would
Oddly, the goth clubs I've been to around my area are quite violent - this is why I thought this

(they are a bunch of
posers if you ask me)

how gross? I guess we are each entitled to our own opinion. I guess it's a mix of two of my favourite things. hot girls, and shiny things...where could you go wrong...oh well..

My father use to hang around with a few violent people when he was younger, one guy got in a fight with some other guy in a pub. The other guy had a nose piercing. My fathers mate ended the fight by ripping it out. Could you imagine that happening with one of these

I wouldn't want my girl having those. It'd yank when I'm holding on to those love handles.

This is defo not new, it's been around years and it's not done permantently. It would be impossible to heal properly. It's commonly done for photos and tattoo/piercing shows, I've even heard of it being done for weddings. I think it look stunning but then again I'm v.into piercings and tats. It's just a v.shortime thing

first inital reaction is 'yeah, that's pretty, I guess' but then, OW!!!!!! all I can imagine is someone pulling on that string and ripping out all the rings. ewww.

You can update your clothes but you cannot update that.
Tatoo removal and attempts at scar removal will be an even bigger money maker in the future.
