Is someone with a higher brain activity level more intelligent than someone whos isnt as active?

I think it depends on how you define intelligence. There is a difference between having knowledge and the ability to acquire knowledge. If you are referring to the percentage of our brain that we actually use I would not compare it to intelligence I would compare it to special abilities as not everyone has the capability to understand all that happens within the mind. I dont believe that intelligence is a limitation to learning how to use more of your brain either. The problems I see are that we really dont understand where conscious thought is grounded at. From a strictly medical perspective our thoughts are electro chemical impulses firing neurons at very high speed. If we asuume that the brain has 100 billion neurons then the average computational capacity of a healty human brain is approximately 20,000,000,000,000,000 twenty trillion calculations per second. I come to this figure by estimation for the three main variables that enter into it: how many neurons (brain cells) we have, how fast a neuron can fire, and how many cells it connects to. A human being has about 100 billion brain cells. Although different neurons fire at different speeds, as a rough estimate it is reasonable to estimate that a neuron can fire about once every 5 milliseconds, or about 200 times a second. The number of cells each neuron is connected to also varies, but as a rough estimate it is reasonable to say that each neuron connects to 1000 other neurons- so every time a neuron fires, about 1000 other neurons get information about that firing. If we multiply all this out we get 100 billion neurons X 200 firings per second X 1000 connections per firing = 20 trillion calculations per second. How we use this computational power is another question which is what I think you are referring to. I have found in working with mentally handicapped individuals that sometimes their perspectives can be deeply profound and almost all mentally disabled people have at least one very special ability.

so someone with no sight and def(which basically unable to learn physical communication skills) can have a higher brain activity level than others? They say when you lose yer sight other senses will increase, same if you you are def or no sense of smell etc....if this aplies wut would the case being blind and def with no way to communicate be?it is said nature, universe or God,whatever, always finds a way.
