Russians discover dead rat in snack
February 03 2006
Moscow - Three Moscow men are demanding nearly £1-million (about R10,8-million) in compensation after they discovered a dead rat in a pack of spicy croutons.
The men bought the pack of croutons, which is a popular Russian beer snack, in a shop in Moscow, reports the Moscovsky Komsomolets daily.
When they opened the packet, they found the croutons had a revolting smell and taste.
After inspecting the packet more closely, they were mortified to find a dead rat among the pieces of dried bread.
The rat had been heat processed together with the croutons, a Moscow Sanitary Expertise Centre said after examining the evidence.
It had been seasoned with exactly the same spices as the croutons, and had a number of croutons stuck to its legs and abdomen.
The three men have now decided to sue the company that produced the snack. - Ananova.com
