This was years agao and as I am a skeptic I ignored him.

The joke about jumping into Iraq for their oil was also a joke. Texas oild fields are till expanding. Do the research.

So when I saw on british news business report some time last year an analyst openly stating that the oil companies are actually pushing the prices until someone complains, I put two and two together.

This year when Shell boasts 12 billion dolloar profits... I gasped at the good fortune that I never learned to drive and am not one of the fools who still trusts the system and pays for their feul without complaint. What,

In reality, they expect you to riot ofver feul prices. Lethargy must be over. IF you riot, then they can wind down the indultries nicely as planned. But perhaps it is me who is 18 months too early. Because somebody must be angry at the massive profits. Why did the prices rise so high ?

I'm grrr-ing too. You're right about Texas though. I'm in the natural gas business and well... nothing slowing down at all, even on the oil side. Lots of drilling recently. Have never been taken in by the "oil" hype and scares and wonder at Congress with their STUPID ideas... Remember when there was regulation over that market in Texas, due to a bill passing in congress about some guy's fishing boat in Florida??

Celumnaz, thank you for bringing up profit margins. Most people can't grasp the concept of what REAL profit is.

If I buy a barrel of oil for $50 and sell it at $100, I made a 50% profit margin. If I buy a boat for $100,000 and sell it at $110,000, I made only 10% profit margin. Sure, on paper I made a whopping $10,000, but for growth and sustainability, I didn't do very well.

Exxon's profit margin was larger in 2004 than it was in 2005, so they did better BEFORE the huge hikes than they did last year.

I really wish people could understand this, cuz it really ticks me off.

Many Democrats want to tax the oil companies extra because of their profits. Not that I defend them from this because I think they are price gouging, but anyway, WHO DO YOU THINK THAT THE OIL COMPANIES WILL PASS THAT PROFIT LOSS ON TO...
