The New World, opened January 20th here, and closed the following Friday. sad.gif Consequently, as I am loathe to squeeze into knee to knee crowds in our small multi-plex, I missed it.

However lasting for but the minimum run time (1 week) is not a good sign. Did anyone see it? The trailer (at link) is excellently tempting to buy a ticket, which is why I thought I'd have time for the heavy crowds to die down. But if it sucks....

What did you think? Anyone?! ph34r.gif

I thought it looked pretty cool. Unfortuantly, I have yet to see it or anything of the like.

The local newspaper review guy hated it, but he only likes chick flicks and art films.
Case in point: He gave The Two Towers 1 1/2 stars, but gave Lizzie McGuire 4 stars. blink.gif

Then burn all his material. Never speak of his blasphemous reviews ever again.

Well, if the replies in this thread is any indication, the movie must have sucked. No one here saw it or cared enough to offer a review. blink.gif
I wonder when the DVD is slated to release?

laugh.gif That guy NEEDS to be shot.

edit- I heard about the movie(The New World), but never got around to seeing it, even though I though it looked good.

I saw it on Sunday night and loved it personally. Its really told from the point of view of the native Indians which was refreshing. If you love Terrence Malick films (which are generally think pieces) as I do then this one is right up your alley.

People either hate his style or love it, there's very little in-between where he's conceerned.

Thank you Ivo. original.gif

I very much enjoy Terrance Malick. (Amazingly enough he's only made 5 films. 4 @ feature length) "Badlands" was the first film of TM's I watched. Martin Sheen in the early years. WoW! What a performance. And I loved, "The Thin Red Line".
