Full Version: Dark Crystal SEQUEL!

JennRose
One of the most formative of films for young JennRose was the orginal Dark Crystal. I'm sure the rest of you children of the mid 70's to mid-80's can relate, as well as you young 'ums. It was beautiful, atmospheric, imaginative, and creepy as HELL! Quite a departure of Henson's from muppets like Kermit and Piggy.

Well, looks like a sequel is in production with an '07 release date. If done well, I think this could be really impressive. Please don't ruin an awesome childhood event for me!

Set hundreds of years after the events of the first movie when the world has once again fallen into darkness, Power of the Dark Crystal follows the adventures of a mysterious girl made of fire who, together with a Gelfling outcast, steals a shard of the legendary Crystal in an attempt to reignite the dying sun that exists at the center of the planet.

Here's a link to the film info as well as a picture of (now) Queen Kira, the female Gelfling, looking quite a bit older but very cool. Good sign so far!

How cool! I can't wait! I love that movie, I've often thought how cool that movie would be if it was with today's graphics technology.

Awesome!

I loved the first movie, though I haven't seen it in years.

Now that I think about it though, the characters were quite ugly and disturbing. Either way, I can't wait for this.

I just have one weird question... Do Gelflings have genetic disorders caused by inbreeding? After all Jen and Kira were the only two left, and if the planet was repopluated, well....

Maybe I need to just not nitpick...

Oh cool!!!

I remember watching the film as a kid...though I don't remember it too well. But I remember that I loved it original.gif

Wow...but I hope it doesn't turn out to be a "too much CG turned bad" kind of film. The old and cozy muppeting is what I like better.

It sounds like most will be the old-scool muppetry. grin2.gif I'm sure, tho, if there is a girl "made of fire" as the description says, there will be necessary CGI.
newbloodmoon
Sounds like a really kick butt film, I enjoyed the heck out of the first one. So unless they go absolute crazy with the CG it sounds as if it could be a great film.

Sounds good, although some movies don't need sequels no matter how good.

Well I cant remember ever seeing it but it sure does look interesting. I shall keep a lookout for this when it comes out!
