ash is mostly organic material, mainly carbon. if there was a fire around the shroud and it was coated with ash, even just a little bit, it would change the proportion between the radioactive and non radioactive carbon and effect the result.

I saw the pictures of Da Vinci, in fact I posted that in a thread. And although similar, I don't believe that he did it.

I've been following this Shroud thing for more than 30 years. I'm convinced it is not the true death shround of Jesus. No possible way.
