Full Version: Let's think about the aliens

If it becomes a fact that aliens are real, and everyone knows they are real, it would toss the Bible out the window. The reason why it would, is there is no real proof that Jesus is real. Even with the Bible, it could have been written by a man who had a very good imagination. Thats why the government doesn't want us to find out any more things about aliens then we already know, because people would freak out. Am I sort of on the right track at all?

Interesting theory..... its plausible.... I dont agree with it but fom an objective standpoint its possible.

I doubt it would annihilate Christianity, or religion in general, but it would probably cause some new religious appearances, and possibly some major internal schizms amongst the major religions.

Think of what happened in Europe following the discovery of the Americas. Although the potential for what became 'protestant belief' was always there (we just need to check the revolts of the Lollards and Hussites in the 1300s), the discovery of the Indians caused some serious religious debates. For example, did these Indians go to hell, since they had never experienced Christianity, or did they fit into some new category between infidel and believer?

The above, however, would pale in comparison to the religious debates caused by the aliens, particularly if the aliens, when discovered, were not something even vaguely humanoid (like four-legged hive creatures with a set of 4 tentacles). This could put the Bible in for some serious questioning. If God (as most christians, Jews, and even Muslims with their holy book, the Quran believe) created the entire universe, then presumably he created the intelligent aliens as well. But the bible says that God created man "in his own image." But if there are intelligent aliens out there who don't even resemble humans, and are much more powerful, what "image" is being spoken of? Does that mean that humans are somehow 'better' than aliens, even if the aliens are vastly more advanced and powerful?

In addition, what about the aliens' religious beliefs? If they have any, should we adopt them, since if they believe in some kind of divine presence, and believe it favors them, they appear to have been favored more (since they are more advanced and powerful)?

It'll probably turn out that Jesus was an alien so it would proove aliens and religion all in one.

Funny you mention that.. I read some where that the Aliens actually "created" Jesus! (hard for me to grasp but ok) .. and that they even placed the various religous beliefs into our world. Who knows.. but some of the old paintings or various things that have been shown makes one wonder.

"Man" has written alot of the history or what they believe they saw and encountered dating back MANY MANY years in all sorts of things, - not just in books, but on walls, and clay tablets etc. in the best way they understood how based on their time.
In modern times, these various things (if found) are analized in depth over the years. One group of people may say it means one thing, while another group of people will say it means something else.

Maybe the bible is what there primitive minds thought of what happened. Anyway maybe humans back then were more intelligent than we are, as they were able to connect to areas of the brain we are no longer able to. So maybe this is why they saw the world the way they did, and how they were able to build the pyramids.

I don't think we'll need an alien invasion to destroy the Bible. The Bible is already passing into the realm of myth, or writings that few take seriously anymore.

Look at Europe -- I read that only about 5% of the population now goes to church regularly -- Christianity is a dying religion. Sure, it's hanging tough In America right now, but I think it's only a matter of time before it goes the way of Zoroastrianism and a lot of other dead relgions that had their centuries of popularity, only to be displaced or forgotten.

Has anyone read the theories of Jacques Vallee? He often posits that aliens invented religions as a way to manipulate the human race.

Ok by posting this im opening my self for an attack,
but i know it will be short live .

Today technology is capable of fertillazing females egg withot intercorse, correct.
If we were to do this with Holy one she stays holy even after she gave birth.

Many male abductees have reported their semen taken while females were taken during the cycle.
Also some state that they actually did carry fetus even after having tubes tied or being at such age when intercourse was imposible/not had for long periods.

See what im getting at?

What if someone had technology back than to do it with purpose of creating a new religion,GOOD,which of course needs a miracle to attract masses at the same create few others religions with different beliefs and as a product u get religiouse wars where u create negative energy, their food.

GREYS.

Thats a pretty big statement to be saying. Many people bleieve in the bible. Type in bible in google and you will get 168,000,000 results. And by the way, Christianity is the leading religion in the world and 20% of the population is christian.

Again, A false statement. You dont have to go to church to be Christian. Many dont and bleieve in the bible. Over 2 billion people believe in it. Now dont tell me its dying.

Yes I have heard of him. Sounds like a person who has nothing better to do but bash religions.

Those with less common sense will flock to the arrival. Those with true intelligence will wait for assurance. Perhaps an Inter-planet coalition would be founded? Perhaps the instrument of our doom? But... this is theory, not fact.
