Hi original.gif

When painting with acrylics, what is the best surface?

Thank You happy.gif

my sister's the artist in the family, but i've heard her talk enough, so to the best of my understanding, i'd say the best suited surface is one with a slight texture, like masonite or hardboard. Obviously canvases and heavy paper surfaces work quite well also. hope that helps!

From my experience, canvas is always the best. It depends on what you're planning on painting though. Canvas allows a texture for the paint to cling to... but if you're painting a canvas bag, you have to be careful, because if you don't have enough of a texture to it, the paint will chip off. Smooth surfaces aren't good for acrylics.
