There have been alot recently.. is this natural, or are these attacks on the american economy?

probably, the aliens living in the center of the earth, are causing these cave in's... the mines are getting too close to the hidden saucer hangers, and the mushroom galleries that must be the answer...

In the case of the West Virginia mine disaster, that mine had repeatedly been cited by the government to address it's glaring safety issues.

It didn't. Tragedy ensued.

It should be noted that the mine was sold in November. And the new owners only had control of the mine for something like 3 weeks before the accident.
