There have been many such sightings. There are actually gravesites of them in public cemetaries...dead mermaids that is, which have not been exhumed...in Africa there was a tribe that spoke of seeing them, a renowned scientist visited the area and he too, proclaimed to witness them...However...black Hair...San Diego...? Mythology teaches that true mermaids have green hair...always...there is no variable for this...

I don't know what one is so no, but have you seen a mermaid, a ufo, and a couple a ghosts on the same day?
Lin
I have seen ghosts...not just brief moments of them...actual ghosts...for long persiods of time...interacting with them and such...many of them, may the rest well this night. But as I said...my conversation with Yan-Grant-Y-Tan judges me as victor here. I am uncertain why he was in the area that I was at that time. An interesting fellow, taller than most tales proclaim

This one time, at band camp, I totally saw a gryphon.

And this one time, at band camp, the gryphon totally let me ride him.

What? This isn't the thread us kids come to entertain each others cute little fantasies? Oh damn, okay, I'll go...

But before I do...Mermaids are a physical impossibility. What you saw is called a hall-u-cin-a-tion.

Shame that, no negative ? No backup, wow, if I had a picture like this, it' d be pretty hard to get me to part with it. Musta left in a hurry huh?

QUOTE

the other person who saw her took a photo, of her

Cool, hundreds of people pass here every day!!
Post some details, location, date time etc, with some perseverance, we should be able to find this person and the picture.
Having not come forward with such a dramatic piece of evidence, the person obviously has no idea of the value of what they hold. We can turn them into millionaires overnight!!! We should be able to track them down, remind them of your encounter and retrieve this evidence, UM will be famous, it's just a win win situiation isn't it original.gif

Where can we start.....

I wonder why I cannot find a photograph anywhere on the net of a mermaid???? - anyone got a link? Strange huh hmm.gif Geez, this must be the only one in existance, even more valuable than I thought.........~

all you have to do is look up his new number, the internet provides numerous services that are free to find someone easily, thier adresses, phone numbers, Email adress, I mean you do have his full name, and a general idea where he lives now correct? then if he does not have an Email adress, screen names, ect, just look up his number and simply call him and ask him to send them to you, or copies, or email them, whatever is easier, and if you need help with any of this, just let me know id be happy to help you out. thumbsup.gif

Like I said before, the human mind can get tricked....Sailors got tricked en masse by dugongs which they thought were mermaids. California is swimming with seals...What you saw was a seal, not an imaginary mermaid.

I am in total agreement as this is the most logical. If you guys say that experiences happen to you you weekly, please provide us pictures as evidence. It would be selfish to claim such things and not provide any evidence as this is what UM is all about.

Since the mind can be tricked, to you, it might e a mermaid, not a seal...but to everyone else, they know it is a seal.

You said "I think it was a she", does this mean that it was an ugly looking thing, since you had a hard time determining its gender?

You were 10 years old. How can you be so sure?

You're not. You've just told this story so much and want it to be true so badly you've talked yourself into believing what you saw was a real life mermaid.

It could be possible that there are mermaids very deep in the ocean. Remember we haven't explored the deepest oceans, and it is in recent years that we have discovered giant squids, coalacanths, and megamouth sharks. So who knows. (but i'm not saying that they exist)

well finally some one who doesn't think I crazy, and them living in the deep makes perfect sense
Acenaspheru
isn't it possible it was a woman in a costume? I know of a picture that someone took of a supposed dead mermaid. it was a model laying on the beach with a very realistic looking tail. the point of the picture was to show about polution in the oceans. this was not a real mermaid but a woman in a costume. it's entirely possible that this person wanted to make the news and went out in it. naturally she couldn't have gone "oh hi can you tell everyone i'm a real mermaid because i want to be on the news!" so she swam away to make you think she was real. =D i've been wanting to do that for a long time.

Because she exists only in your mind, therefore can do whatever she (or you) want.

Short answer - yes. Well,,,,, perhaps not everyone......... but pretty much. Yeah.

QUOTE(thecreeper @ Feb 28 2006, 08:42 AM)

why do people not believe me

Because we are too grown up to believe in Mermaids, Santa and the Tooth Fairy. Mermaids are from stories, as are fairies, gnomes and vampires. These myths are born from imagination not fact. We can determine between the two.
I would be over the Moon if you story could even possibly be true. An Ocean full of topless hotties sounds more like Heaven than Earth though.

Not enough woman, not enough fish, Bwahahahaha, that just isn't going to get old original.gif

No - SOME people would believe you. Bigfoot spotters have to provide just as much proof as Mermaid spotters. I see your point though, instant possibility with Bigfoot, no possibility with a Mermaid. That would be attributed to the thousands of documented Bigfoot sightings in comparison to a few old sailors stories.......The net is not very friendly when Googling mermaid proof......
That Tsunami fake is a shocker isn't it, not much better than PT Barnums Feejee Mermaid, and that was made ages ago.

Hrrmzzz, far fetched is just a little light on methinks. How about, way out there? A public beach with spectators, one ten year old and 'someone else' are the only witnesses to what is the most amazing discovery this Century, redifing mankind WHOOPS LOST THE PROOF, deary me, where did that pulitzer winning prize photo go unsure.gif , I must have misplaced it!! rofl.gif well, those scientist people will just have to listen to my tale now- all that jazz, yeah, makes it so unlikely that it is probably not true. Heck, Im gonna go out on a limb here and say, it is not true.

Nope, not the last, you have a good memory of that day.

You did not see a Mermaid. Shame I know, but you have had a good run with the story. Take Frogfishes hint about burying yourself deeper. Great tale though.

All right, Creeper, just shut up before you embarass(sp?) yourself any further.

You said you took a picture, but the friend that had it moved away, right? So call him, see if he still has the picture, have him scan it, and then e-mail it to you. If you want to remotely convince anyone here, then you'd need some kind of proof.

And as it is, I don't believe you. Show me evidence, and I might be inclined to change my mind,
Darsawl
mermaids are like everyone says not real listen arms and tails just don't work together as well as you mightthink no.gif fish can sort hover under water or at least swim very slowely cause they have fins. not to mention that arms are a very inefective way of turning under water yes.gif .

This is a fantastical claim. Surely nothing less was expected.
