This is just stupid. Sure there may be some references to Africa's "pagan" religons, but that's understandable, considering the movie is based in AFRICA.

This is the kind of stuff that really gets me mad. Its a load of crap, really.

The Lion King may be a shameless imitation of Tezuka's Kimba the White Lion, but I don't see how anyone can get that much out of it. Disney hasn't been that deep for a long time.

Oh my! such a ridiculous article! I loved the lion king! *starts singing Hakuna Matata* funny and stupid...just like the person who thought that the lion king would advocate anything of the sort... rolleyes.gif

Can't I just see that website supporting Jerry Falwell's proclamation years ago, that the purple Teletubby was a gay Icon because it carried a purse! blink.gif Hey Jerry! Maybe it's just a girl Teletubby! wacko.gif

And don't forget these same mentalities claiming "The Chronicles of Narnia" was a allegory of the Christ myth, with the Lion as Jesus.

Well, with NARNIA, the Christian imagery was intentional. Lewis was a devout believer.

This is like how they were saying in the late 90s that Pokemon and Magic: the Gathering were drawing in people into devil worship. To which I say: IT'S JUST A FRIKKEN GAME!

I heard that if you play Jerry Falwell sound bytes backward, he doesn't sound like an idiot......

If people look hard enough at a film and they have a deep-seated fanatical cause, they can attribute all sorts of meanings to it.

I've heard that the smurfs are about communism.......

(sic)"...Although he did not set out to do so, in the process of writing his fantasy works, Lewis (an adult convert to Christianity) found himself incorporating Christian theological concepts into his stories. As he wrote in Of Other Worlds:

"Some people seem to think that I began by asking myself how I could say something about Christianity to children; then fixed on the fairy tale as an instrument, then collected information about child psychology and decided what age group I'd write for; then drew up a list of basic Christian truths and hammered out 'allegories' to embody them. This is all pure moonshine. I couldn't write in that way. It all began with images; a faun carrying an umbrella, a queen on a sledge, a magnificent lion. At first there wasn't anything Christian about them; that element pushed itself in of its own accord."
Lewis, an expert on the subject of allegory, himself maintained that the books were not allegory, and preferred to call the Christian aspects of them "suppositional". This is similar to what we would now call alternative history. " Source Link.

The hell are you talking about?

There is a large body of fundamentalist christians that have been so whipped up by their "handlers" (like Falwell) that the Devil is trying to seduce them, that their only non-devotional pastime is to come up with all the improbable ways that the devil is trying to seduce the human race. You can go to their sites and laugh all day. I believe the pyramid on the dollar bill has Satanic significance, not to mention the little Proctor and Gamble moon logo, which I understand they had to dispense with because of the hysteria it generated.
