I bought the survival horror game Siren today. I found it for 10 bucks at a local used game, movie, and cd store. I didn't get to far in it, but I feel it's enough to judge the game as a whole from this point, based on mine and other's experiences. Overall, the game actually isn't too bad. They have the horror part down pat (this game is very, very scary)...it's the survival part that needs brushing up on. Just like I thought, this game is also very hard. It's separated into sections, some being bigger, and some being smaller. The whole game is pretty much based on a trial and error system. You try one thing, you die, you restart the scene, you try another thing, you die, you restart the scene, and so on. I think this game could have been a lot better if it was made a lot easier.

The graphics are pretty good, nothing spectacular. However, the characters faces look like they were converted into animation from real-life models, and come out looking very flat and move oddly. It looks quite stupid, to be honest.

The entire cast of the game is all japanese, yet all of the characters have English accents....which I found very strange.

I'm not excactly sure what the story is yet, but I'll post it when I find out. tongue.gif

I like the game, but it's one of those games where even if you use a strategy guide (which is highly recommended), it's still very hard to avoid being shot or bludgened to death by one of the "shibito".

Sounds fun yes.gif

Sounds cool. Reminds me of Illbleed.

I agree completely, I don't even know if the faces are 3d; it looks like a photo has just been pasted on to a smooth surface.

The game is quite fun but I found it really difficult, there's a steep learning curve to it.

How far did you get T? So far, I'm on the 3rd mission. I kept dying...well actually the girl was dying. Shibito were coming out of nowhere from behind.

I think the sightjack is one of the coolest, and scariest things in a video, ever. When you look through a Shibito's eyes and you see it looking around, and then spots you and starts running after you, that is some true horror right there.

I'm also only on the 3rd mission so far, for the same reason aswell, I can't seem to get her to do what I say.

The sightjack is pretty awesome, it adds a real element of strategy aswell as fear.

There is one thing about the game, although it's very minor it annoys me. The menu and interface. Honestly, when I first saw the menu I thought it was Ridge Racer or something like that. It just doesn't suit the game type at all. Maybe I'm just being picky.

No, I agree. The menu was odd for a game like this.

I'm trying to use a guide for this mission, but the only good one doesn't even explain that well where any of the Shibito are. It's not the the girl doesn't listen to me, it's that they always sneak up from behind, so they kill her right away.

The guide says this: Turn off your flashlight immediately. Tell the girl to follow you and go to the path directly to your right. Keep going until you get to the wooden bridge, and cross it. Then, it doesn't mention anything about the Shibito over in this area, even though it's easy to see. Go up the ledge (you will probably have to shoot the Shibito down once). This is where it gets confusing; it says something about climbing on top of the ledge on the house, and then climbing again to get to another house. I didn't get that far because the Shibito recover WAY too fast. I got to the ledge, shot the Shibito down once, climbed the ledge and went around the right side of the house, like the guide said. Then the Shibito got up, but it couldn't find us. Suddenly, a different one came up behind us and killed the girl, without warning. That's the sucky thing: there's no warning when you're in Sightjack mode.

Also, that sniper on the roof is really annoying.
