I have really been enjoying this game.
The into is good. It starts with you sitting in a bathroom stall carving symbols into your arms and bleeding all over the floor.
A man comes into the restroom and the scene flashes back and forth between a caped figure and you slowly walking towards the man like a jerky staggering puppet.
You stab the guy in the heart three times and get more blood all over the floor.
Then you snap out of the weird trance you were in and have to make your escape from the restaurant before the police eating inside decide to come use the facilities.

Now you have to discover what happened to you before the police catch you.

So far it has been a good combination of horror and mystery.

You play three characters through the story.

Sounds like Max Payne 2

I've heard really good things about this game, and I've been meaning to play it for a long time, but I never got around to it.

Well Shake, I recommend you to rent it first if you have the chance, because as good as this game is, it's also quite short, 5-6 hours. But some of the most compelling hours I've played in a loooooong time grin2.gif

Fantastic game. Only played the first area but it's really quite amazing.

The rest of the game is just like that, except the ending. At that point the game just becomes a bunch of action sequences. Still, awesome game thumbsup.gif

I just recently bought this game. I found it at Blockbuster for 15 bucks. Wow, it was worth it. I beat it yesterday, and I can honestly say it's one of the best games I have ever played. The story is absolutely incredible; much, much more than I was expecting. The simple gameplay mechanics work supringly well. There's so much interaction and story paths and twists...completely amazing. It does lose a lot of the mystery later in the game, where it becomes mainly action sequences, but still manages to maintain the atmosphere that the game built up on. I got a bad ending accidentally the first time, so I restarted the chapter and got the good ending. I'm also happy that this game made me like the band Theory of a Deadman (I hated them before). I was blown away by the awesomeness of this game. I hope there's a sequel some time, but it's doubtful. The developers are making another game in the same way as this one called "Heavy Rain". If you look at the screens for that game, you'd swear you were looking at real photos.

So i finally bought it myself this past weekend. Gave it a few good solid playthroughs. I have to say, these playing hours have been the most compelling i think since i first found myself in Silent Hills Otherworld.
It really is a masterpiece of driving emotions, cinematic quality action scenes and all the like. I do truely love it. The end was abit naff yeah, but damn that matrix fight with the Oracle was wikkid.

Too bad the US version is so bloody censored compared to the UK version. There were even interactive sex scenes in the UK version that were cut out. Booo!!

My gripes are the controls, which were pretty dumb since when the camera changed they didn't, so i was running into alot of walls... and the army base stealth missions. They were god damned awful and i hate the prospect of having to listen to another 'Stop or i'll shoot!' haha.
Bella-Angelique
I hope the there is a big trend to make these.
I love the concept of it being an interactive movie. wub.gif

Yeah, that's all it is pretty much. It's a 5-6 hour movie, but YOU choose what questions to ask and when, you choose what clues the killer leaves behind and what ones the detectives pick up on, and you interact with the action sequences. It's so simplistic, but it took quite an ingenius mind to open this type of gameplay up fully. The mental status is such a simple little toy that gives so much depth into the game.
I too hope this is only the first of it's kind.

Unfortunately, i feel the game was marketed a little poorly and as such not nearly as many people know about it as they should. This reflects badly on sales.. so i guess we'll see.

It's price is insane too, only 30 bucks canadian! That's what, 20 for the states, new!

Check out the game, "Heavy Rain" for the PS3. I mentioned in my previous post. It's from the makers of Indigo Prophecy, and it's another game of the same type. It looks quite awesome. Though, I would like to see a direct sequel to IP some time in the future.

And I didn't know about an uncensored UK version. I want that. Maybe they have one on eBay or something.
BurnSide
You'd need a UK console to run it too. tongue.gif PAL region games aren't playable on NTSC region consoles, and vice versa.

I'll check out Heavy Rain when i get a chance. I hope it's similar. The grey dull Max Payne feeling works really well for the style of gameplay.

I played Indigo Prophecy about 3 months ago. The story, dialouge, voice acting and gameplay were pretty good. Although, when they guy (forgot his name) reminices about his childhood, and has to sneak past guards was weak. So wasnt the part where the main charachter DIED. BUT WAS STILL ALIVE. And, err.... makin love to dead people the way the woman detective did is hardly normal. The ending was downright cheesy. I did like the action sequences where you have to tilt the thumbsticks in a specified direction. Like the fight scenes, and Matrix esque cubicle running. Even if it were giant dustmites the guy was runnin from and not agents. And a well depicted mayan medicine man. Well, not the whole possess people and make them slit their wrists kind of way, but the look was very... vintage. Nice choice for a voice on him too. But I did get pissed at a few parts where I had absolutely no idea what to do. The amount of things available are nice too tho. Like in the begging you can mop the blood, dispose of the corpse, and knife, wash your hands, and get the subway coin from the dispenser thing so that you dont have to take the cab. But my first time I just ran outta the restaurant without even paying the bill.
BurnSide
Yeah i did too. Moved the body, cleaned the blood, disposed of the knife, washed my hands, took a piss, and then legged it out the back door and down the street hahah.

Second time was much better. Sat down, ate abit, paid the bill, even chatted with teh waitress and watched some TV before leaving for the subway.

The coin is to use the telephone, you don't need it for the subway. (But if you use the telephone the cops can trace the call).

To be honest, alot was promised of this game that didn't actually happen. Yeah, your actions affect other actions later in the game, like if you take a cab they can trace the cab route to your home. But it really doesn't affect the ending in anyway. There's only three, and what ending you get is really only decided with two or three choices at the end of the game. It's actually pretty linear, and not really much different from taking different routes to get to the same destination in other games. I would have prefered much more freedom and cause/effect, but it was still good.

Actually it's just a couple of scenes and they weren't very long and didn't show very much, so if you wanted to see digital boobies, well, you are gonna be disappointed.
I know this because I played the European version of the game, known there as "Fahrenheit". I loved it, from leaving the clues only to find them myself as another character later (the diner) or the conversations where you played both parts (the interrogation between Carla and Lucas) to the action sequences (the chase where you hang on to the helicopter and the fight at the rooftop stick out), though I admit that the ending was fairly weak. Still, a worthwhile game all- around thumbsup.gif

This is a really good game. I do recomend renting instaed of buying but still worth owning if you alredy bought it. if you have the time you should get all three endings.
