Looks like all the old religions are still in conflict with each other, living in the past , relying on old Bibles to proove their point. Is it time someone came along and updated Religion to the 21st century, acnologing things like ,abortion , homosexuality and science proving that the Earth was made in 6 days as codswallop. To me all Religions are living in the Middle ages and we need to update them , if there to be believable.

There is some debate going on in the Vatican about abortion... :/
The last Pope made some extreme changes to the Catholic church that I believe improved it a great deal.
but I think for a bunch of old men to decide if a woman can have her baby or not is right or wrong
THATS BS.

There are some religions that are just so old that no one would even think of changing them because they are fine the way they are.

I agree with you about a new religion, something that doesn't hold to ancient beliefs about a god or gods...

I agree....no old man or anyone for that matter should say if a woman can hang on to her baby or not...a lot of women have no choice other than to abort due to medical issues that the baby wont survive regardless...so it's much better (I know this sound sad but why make a lil one suffer and prolong the agony) to abort apap...I have read tones of reports about this......other than that...I don't beliee in abortion just becuase they dont want the kid.....they can give the child away to a loing home instead of aborting

Middle ages? You mean beginning ages. grin2.gif Religions are changing a bit. There are Christians that accept homosexuality. Science? How bout Christian science....just kidding.
Judiaism has modernized as times go on, of course they still celebrate very old traditions. Buddhism has modernized in the west but I think Buddhism in itself really has the core to keep up with modern times.

Isn't that what religion is about though? Believing in something very old and still having faith that it hasn't changed?

Well...Religion is evolving to make People happy not necessarily God...but its what helps it survive- God knows the world changes, people change and his laws thousands of years back cant be 100% comparible today. I guess nowadays its about following your heart...Think your actions would seriously make God happy? If so..go for you life. original.gif

How about one step at a time and just try to deal with fundementalism for right now.
That is a huge dish to serve up all alone.

Billy I agree and say this often religion needs to be redefined if its to survive, that which holds little truth and value eventually disappears, especially since the 'fruits of its labour are spoiled" I don't think its nessecary to have a religion, one doesn't need to mandate morals , IMO opinion we have so many issues becasue of the bible, its 'god' solves everything by violence, well guess what so do his followers.... violence is by no accident the most used way to solve conflict down to if one does something that displeases ( along the same lines of diety) people will kill them for it.Namaste sheri

They might as well keep the old religions since people tend to interpret them to coincide with modern times anyway.

Agreed. Religions as we see them today are so vastly different from the way they were at their inception, that they are essentially as new religions already. Case in point: The 10 commandments, or more specifically the fourth commandment. It doesn't mention that breaking the fourth commandment is any less of a transgression than, for instance, murder, yet many Christians who would never kill somebody still work on Saturdays, in order to better fit today's lifestyle.

Then of course there's shrimp, shaving, and etc.

we have the new religion:

itheism!

the worship of the self, the admiration of the self, the elevation of the ego, the celebration of pack rank along with individuality. rolleyes.gif

people don't seek enlightenment, they seek gratification, instant gratification, and servicing of the self.

humanity has almost gone full circle. it is almost as animalistic as it was when man first walked upright.

congradulations on getting back to where you began.

Id like to see a religion that embraces all of life not just Human beings but plants and Animals as well.
I feel that we have neglected what God gave us and look at the World as some sort of infinite provider of resources that Humans can enjoy.

they already exist. you just have not looked to hard to find them.
Infrazael
Sure, why not. You can all worship me.

It shall be called Infrazaelism.

Dogma: To give up all of your ultra-sexy and beautiful daughters as sacrifices to me. . . um. . . . just leave them at the doorstep. . . . my assistants will guide them through our sacred rituals.

Then you shall have eternal life.

If you don't comply, you shall burn in the great river of flames for eternity.

You see, I can sound Christian-like as well.
