Please feel free to move this if you want. Anyway I was reading a new article on Space.com about sunspot cycles and the year 2012 jumped out. Thought I would share. It sort of lends a bit more credibility to the Mayan prediction of a calamity in 2012.

"The new model, known as the Predictive Flux-transport Dynamo Model, has simulated the strength of the past eight solar cycles extending back to the early 1900s with 98 percent accuracy. "
"Using the model, researchers predict that the next solar cycle, known as Cycle 24, will produce sunspots across an area slightly larger than 2.5 percent of the visible surface of the Sun. They also expect that the cycle will begin in late 2007 or early 2008--about six to 12 months later than earlier predictions--and reach its peak in 2012."

This could be one more ingredient in the catastrophe that is predicted when the solar system ends its' precessionary cycle and a tug-of-war begins between the sun and "planet X"(brown dwarf, I think) for control of the planets, including earth.

Myself, i dont believe in this "Ultimate Doom" theory that alot of people do. The future is just like nature, theres too many factors involved to be able to actually "Predict" what it holds in store for us. Could be that these solar flares will roast us. Could also be these solar flare WONT roast us, but create new things for us. Far as 2012 goes, I lean towards the opinion of more of a mental awakening, for lack of a better phrase. Where we are more in tune with things, rather than materially connected. Not the end of the world, but the beginning of a new one. What will it be like, how will it happen? Who knows? Could all happen in one fell swoop, could happen over a period of thousands of years. My state of mind is let the future come, be happy with the way you are, and never be afraid of things to come...

I agree Funk. If anything DOES happen, I look forward to change. After all, monotony sucks.

I hope it lets me get laser eyes yes.gif

hehe, hm, do we actually have twin stars? I know a lot of other solar systems do, as I think its 90% of the time stars are born as twins, though 70% of the time only one 'ignites' and the other dulls out or something.

I suppose someone might think it an excellent time for a massive ground attack when communications will be their most vulnerable.
Saint Macabre
