Serpent
Hey everyone at my fave forum,

This photo was taken recently in a hotel lobby of the Hotel Cortijo Soto Real in Las Cabezas, Spain. Is this what's known as an 'orb'? On the high-resolution picture, when I zoomed in, it looks like one of those 'lightning in a sphere' things that you can get at novelty shops, selling alongside lava-lamps.

There were two shots taken within moments of each other, and in the other picture, this floating ball is not there. If you look carefully, it overlaps the light fixture on the wall. Of course I didn't see any floating white ball in front of me when the picture was taken grin2.gif

Anyway, it's the first time I've ever caught anything like this on my camera, so I thought I'd share it with you all.

Cheers!

was the flash on the camera on by any chance? I know there's another light source, but it could be used as a filler flash. Frankly whenever an "orb" is caught with a digital camera it has the odds WAY against it being real (and that's compared to the already slim odds of it being legit on film...). When you say within moments, be more precise if you can as dust can travel quite fast, but if you took two in a row (5 seconds or less) then it'd be increasingly surprising for it to be moving that fast the shorter the time. Seems like as pretty an orb as I've seen in a long time, but there doesn't seem to be a good way to guarantee that an orb is real.

Serpent, this is a very nice photo of an Orb. Pretty cool! Thank you for sharing thumbsup.gif

I found this one web site that gives information various types and reasons for certain orbs.

Hey, thanks for the replies thumbsup.gif

I don't think the flash was on, I don't remember it going off, there was enough light streaming through that huge door / window. Anyway, here's the other shot I mentioned, taken a few seconds before the one with the orb.

It really is quite nice on the high res image! (1.27Mb) Too bad it's too big to post up in here..cheers! Gonna check out that site you mentioned Cinders, thanks!

I've always been skeptical of orbs, I don't think they signify anyhting at all, and that shape is indeed an orb shape, so yes, you have an orb on film(or pixels if that be the case).
