The past few weeks my aunty has been seeing a white cat running around her house. Shes the only one who sees it, shes seen it laying on the kitchen bench and she even asked her daughters if they could see it and they couldn't even though it was "apparently" right infront of her. She clearly sees it, its not a flicker or something on the corner of her eye, she sees it clear as day, cept no one else can. But the other day my aunty and my cousin were in the kitchen and you know those bins that the top sorta moves when u put something in it, well it was spinning really fast and no one was standing near it. Shes had alot of paranormal experiences, her husband died many years ago and now its just her and my 2 cousins living in the house. I was wondering if anyone knew if seeing a cat that wasnt really there had any sort of meaning.... you know? It would really help, I'm open to all opinions, also, shes not on any medication and shes not crazy and she doesn't take drugs and doesnt drink alcohol. blink.gif

How long has this been happening? Did it happen from when your aunt first moved into the house where she sees it or did it happen some time after? Corny question time: Has she ever had a family cat that died? If not is your aunt a cat lover anyway? Sorry for all the questions, just trying to get some more info original.gif

Edit: typos

I think that seeing things tat aren't there is a sign of stress. the cat is white, and white seems like a good kind of color for ghostly animals. Probably to bring peace.

not to be the voice of reason (as always) but maybe your aunt needs medical attention. Before you assume its a ghost cat, get her head checked out...if you can't afford a doctor, set up a camera or have her take a picture of the cat...make sure its not in her head.

Animals, and specifically cats are thought by wiccan and some shamanistic cultures to be protective spirits. If I understand it correctly, in that belief the spirit of a cat would be a particularly good omen. I believe that they are called "Familiars."

Some ancient Egyptians worshiped cats as gods. In fact many cultures have and do hold various cats in very high esteem. Big cats are thought of as gods as well as evil beings and many other things by some tribal Africans, Asians, and Native North and South Americans.

I once heard it said that aside from their fur and the fact that they give birth to live off-spring and suckle them, that cats are so physically different from all other mammals that they should be classified as a totally different animal altogether. It was told that all cats should be in a class by themselves. It's no wonder that so many cultures have regarded them as gods and protectors.

I believe that animals can come back as a ghosts! In other words, I think that they are just as endowed with spirits and souls as humans are,,,and as a matter of fact, I believe that caught a glimpse of my own deceased pet cat when I was a child...

It was a Siamese Cat named Smoky. My parents had decided to take him to the vet to have him "fixed," but for some reason he died during tprocedureure. On that day, I knew that the cat was at the vet but I didn't know that he had died. I was playing in my playroom and I saw movement out of the corner of my eye. I turned and looked and I saw Smoky there just as clearly as ever. He ran under the rocking chair that was in the corner and was gone.

Later my parents told me that Smoky had died and they bought a new Siamese cat for me, one which coincidentally I named Smoky too. laugh.gif In any case, was my sighting a ghost or a hallucination? As I stated, I believe that animals do have spirits, despite what some people teach, and I think that they are just as capable as humans to return to this world in some instances. Yet in my case I think that I was a hallucinating. I am almost certain that I was somehow mentally aware that my cat had died before I'd actually been told that he was dead. I feel that what I saw was more of a "vision" of my pet "going away" than it was his' ghost.

Nevertheless, in your Aunty's case, we know very little about her, like her age, health, state of mind, etc. Having said that, my own Grandmother lived to a very old age and she suffered from senile dementia in her last decade or so of life. In that state of mind she didn't know who we were and she was basically reliving her younger days. She thought that my father was her brother, my mother was her sister and that I was some other person from her childhood. But in this state, she was very suggestable and particularly so about cats.

I believe that cats triggered such strong suggestibility because as a child she had a beloved pet cat. However. she witnessed her father doing some very cruel things to her pet. like kicking it across the room, etc. (My Grandmother grew up in the late 1800's and there were no animal protective services in those days.) Unfortunately, I believe that eventually he actually killed her cat. Nevertheless, in her old age, at the mere mentioned of the word "cat,' she would say "here kitty. kitty, kitty,,," and then reach down and go through the motions of petting a cat. There was no cat there, she spent her' final ten years in a convalescent home and she was in her room the entire time.

In essence, she imagined her that she had her cat again,,,and due to the circumstances that I know surrounding her childhood pet, I think that it was quite lovely. Her' "invisible cat" seemed to make her very happy. Again, I don't think that she was actually seeing her long dead cat, I think that it was a hallucination. Yet, who knows? In her' state of mind, she might have actually been able to see her beloved pet.

If your Aunty is older and has a mental disorder or physical disease, she could be hallucinating the white cat. This could be a sign that she should get to a Medical Doctor right away. Sometimes mild strokes, diminished heart function, and many other serious medical conditions can cause a person to hallucinate. If she is an older person, she might be in the beginning stages of senile dementia, which has many causes,,,but the most commonly known form of the condition is Altzhiemer's Disease. I wouldn't suggest that this is what's happening with you're Aunty, but as a former Paramedic I would be remiss not to suggest health issues as a possibility for what she is experiencing.

Otherwise, the garbage bin lid spinning for no apparent reason is something that suggests that there might be something supernatural going on, especially since it was witnessed by your cousin too. That almost reminds me of poltergeist activity.

Perhaps your Aunty is a medium, especially if she has a long history of unexplained events going on around her. If she should be, you should encourage her to use her abilities to help others.

Good luck to you and good luck to your Aunty.
