The story of Ed Gein was particularly disturbing when I first read it. He was the inspiration for Leatherface (from Texas Chainsaw Massacre), I believe.

I'll go with Gein as well.
This guy was as sick as they come. I suggest anyone not familiar with his story to google his name and read it. It WILL totally disgust and creep you out.

Albert Fish gets my vote.

William Pickton...he has the biggest Serial Killing case up here in Canadian history...he is new to the market of serial killings...but the guy is a nut job! He is a pig farmer who would kidnap prostitutes from Vancouvers downtown east side, and take them back to his farm, kill them and use parts of flesh and meat from the victims and mix it with meat of pork for sausages and then he would give and sell his "Meat" mixtures to people who werre unaware what they were buying! The guys is like a Canadian Ed Gein minus the necrophilia!

These are the ones in Canada that get talked about the most. The whole idea of serial killers just freaks me out.

Dr Harold Shipman was a monster.

The reason I chose Harold Shipman as the worst serial Killer of all time is because he killed at least 215 people whilst being a Doctor.

Don’t get me wrong the Albert Fish's and Jeffery Dahmer’s are true monsters but I feel that Harold Shipman is worse not only because he killed more people but his victims were his patients so he could lie to his unsuspecting victims and there families as well as edit the victims medical records what allowed him to carry on murdering.

He lied to his victims and there families and edited the victims medical records so his colleagues would not suspect he had done anything wrong, he planned everything so he could carry on killing the innocent without any remorse.

Imagine planning your future so that you could kill innocent people over the next 35/40 years!

I read somewhere that he used to take a memento of his victims like a ring or a bit of jewellery, the police apparently used this evidence to help narrow down who some of his victims were but they are still left with a huge bunch of necklace’s and wedding rings, the Police suspect he killed allot more than the 215 he was convicted of and the Shipman inquest suggested the total could be as high as 500!

How can we ever know the damage this man caused?

I also think that the Green River Killer is perhaps one of the worst- after all , it took how many years to catch him?

Gary Ridgeway, the Green River Killer, is probably one of the worst in the USA, in the modern era. He killed upward of 60 women. He can't even remember how many.

It took them almost 20 years to ARREST him... the reality is that the Seattle/King Co. police always knew it was him, they just didn't have the evidence to pop him until some 5 years ago.

This is a pretty interesting story actually. My former boss actually worked on the Green River Task force in the early/mid 80's on their now famous database as an intern. Since he was in college at that time he also held a parttime job with ya, you guessed it, Kenworth trucking working with Ridgeway. The day the news broke that they'd caught Ridgeway, our boss revealed this story to us. He said the investigators had always known it was Ridgeway but never had the evidence to pop him until DNA got good enough to link him to the crimes. He always felt weird that in the mornings he worked on the Green River Killer Task Force Database, then later in the afternoon went to work with Ridgeway knowing full well that Ridgeway was the killer everyone was looking for. More amazing was that while many people knew Ridgeway was a suspect, no one ever knew the Task Force knew it was him pretty much all along.

Of course, Bundy was prolific too, I grew up close to the park where he abducted a number of women and I can remember my own young mother being pretty well terrified. He was not as prolific as Ridgeway was.

Gee, we here in WA sure know how to turn out good serial killers.

Some people even believe the Zodiac Killer died here in WA a few years ago. But that's still a theory.

There's a few rumours going around about Albert Fish...one of which says that he kept children up in his attic, and when returning home from work would walk up stairs, slice a piece of meat off a child, wrap it up and give it to his unknowing family for dinner.

Hands down.

There is too much media hype (PRO- HOLLYWOOD) ideals with some of these psychopaths.. They don't deserve the *aww* of their sickness.... Seems like the ones that are truly hard to the core- the most sadistic, antisocial, machines are looked over..forgotten.. We know thru media Bundy, Gacy, Gein, Fish, etc,. What about Berdella, the BTK even, or Lucas (Henry)..., lake and Ng, etc.,

Whenever I think of serial killers, I always think of H.H. Holmes. I did an assignment on him for History in high school, so he was basically the first serial killer I'd ever really been introduced to, besides Jack the Ripper who I didn't know a great deal about at the time. So yeah, those two.

My favorite serial killers would have to be

Jack The Ripper

All I heard of him was:
He murdered prostitutes
His identity was never discovered
Some people actually believed he was the Devil
He scares the hell outta me.

My second favorite serial killer would be Albert Fish, aka "The werewolf of wysteria, the Grey man, or the vampire man."
My info on him:
He was interested in sado-masochism and homosexuality
He liked being tortured (look him up on Wiki! I swear, it'll have you blowing your lunch out your nose!) in a kinda homosexual and painfull way (sado-masochism?)
He really liked having needles shoved in his pelvic regions and was executed in an electric bath

I'm pretty glad he's dead, and I hope Jack The Ripper is dead too. They both scare the hell outta me. More than lightning at close range.

Jeffery Dahmer by far is the worst. its a grusome and sad murder case.

Shipman was sitting in his cell when the guard brought his dinner in.
"Chicken Korma tonight, Shipman," the cheery guard says.
An hour later, the guard returns and notices that Shipman has hardly touched his curry.
"What's wrong with your dinner?" he asks.
"Oh nothing," Shipman replies, "but I could've murdered a naan."

Shipman's suicide note has been found. It reads - "I can't go on. I've run out of patience."

Not sure if this guy's been mentioned and there are some doubts about the claims of Alexander Pichushkin, but he is a suspect in 61 murders. Using blunt force trauma to their heads, his stated aim was 64 victims, one for each square on a chess board. He faces a pre-trial hearing in a few weeks.

Suspected Serial Killer Arrested in Moscow

John Bunting and Robert Wagner - the snowtown bodies in a barrel case in South Australia. Both John Bunting and Robert Wagner were both serial killers working together, and the victims were people who were both known to each killer, and in some cases their victims helped them kill others before becoming a victim themselves.

The third person who was charged with the murders was groomed at about 14 by Bunting to help in the murders too.

I think they are the worst serial killers I know about because it happened somwhere close to where I live.

Charles Ng and Leonard Lake:
Cruel, psychopathic son of wealthy Hong Kong businessman, discharged from the Marines for stealing, and his accomplice kidnapped, raped, tortured and murdered an estimated 25 captives in a fortified bunker in California -- all caught on video. When Lake killed himself with hidden cyanide tablets, Ng fled to Canada, setting the stage for one of the most expensive legal battles in U.S. history, dwarfing the O.J. Simpson trial.

serial killers

Pretty sure he only killed three known people of wich two were caught on video. . . .

worst? how bout best? my faves include Jeffery Dahmer and The Zodiac. But there is one group of for men that killed I think in illinois or ohio. They would pick up hookers and kill them in their kidnapper van. but the thing that made them so grusom was that they would mutilate the breasts of there captives and ave intercorse with the wounds in the breast! yuck. any way one girl lived and lead to thier capture

Pol Pot was definitely a bad guy. I've always thought the Zodiac was pretty sick too.

Although I guess he's technically not a serial killer, the worst I think is William Quantrill. He was a Confederate guerrilla fighter in Missouri and refused to take prisoners when raiding Union soldiers, militia, and even civilians. At the height of his raids, he and his followers attacked Lawrence, Kansas, an abolitionist town, and killed over 200 men and boys in front of their families. Quite the interesting fellow.

what about Albert Fish, he murdered an abused many young girls an when he was caught an put to the electric chair he short circuted it because he had years worth of pins an needles inserted in his testacles wich led them to discover even more horrific details of his own self abuse..
scary monsters.
sleep tight

I've never heard the story of where he short-circuited the chair, but he did have needles stuck into his testicles and rectal area, at least 25 of them. He is definately my "favorite" serial killer, but not really so much because of his killings, but because of his perverse sadomasochistic activities. I don't remember the exact quote, but when he was asked what he thought of him being put to death via the chair he said something like "It's one thrill I haven't tried." If you want to know more about Albert Fish, there is a great book by Harold Schechter (who has written several serial killer biographies) called "Deranged."

Manson wasn't a serial killer. And TECHNICALLY, he didn't actually kill anyone.

QUOTE(Infrazael @ Mar 15 2006, 12:37 AM) *
Well, give the definition "serial-killer" some liberty, and Charles Manson fits perfectly IMO.

He was insane, he was ingenius, he reveled in bloodshed and the absolute corruption and destruction of innocence.

I think we can label him as one of those people, perhaps he is even WORSE then the serial killers who do the job themselves.

Manson is generally considered a mass murderer, not a serial killer; and, psychologically, there are differences between the two. Mass murderers kill several people in one sitting, whereas serial killers murder someone, take a cooling off period, then murder again.
