Hey guys, my first post here...found this on Yahoo!
Rat-Squirrel Not ExtinctThis definitely helps support cryptozoology...if an animal that was thought to be extinct for 11 million years is actually still alive, what else could be out there?

What about eight foot sloths? Maybe those are in jungle swamps somewhere.

Why havnt' some of these animals who were supposedly extinct but found later, not evolving?

Good question...some things just adapt quickly I guess...crocs and sharks haven't changed for a long time, either. Which begs the question...what kind of crazy animals are out there that we don't even know about to begin with??

I hope nothing spooky. I saw a strange rat-like creature about the size of a dog on my fence. Perhaps it was a sick possum. I hope.

Nutty! They probably haven't changed because they're still suited to their niche in the world. It's probably a lot simpler than you're thinking, how they've managed to survive this long.
In a way. The article says all the specimens found so far have been killed by hunters or found at meat markets. Maybe that's why they're still around. They're tasty!

Nothing needs to evolve unless its absolutly nessicary like if a hot destert goes freezing permentily then the animals will need to change or die out but if there already suited fine they won't need to

I've probably seen this critter before, in books. Similar creatures were our ancestors. Before modern monkeys and apes evolved, they had forebears that were vere very similar to this rat-squirrel.

Yeah but new theorys suggest that not all mammals decened from small rats because the scientist just found a otter beaver thingy that was very big ill try and find a link

If the rat squirrel didn't evolve...how did we wind up with modern day squirrels with fluffy tails?

i belive the question i was answering was directed towards this one
Why havnt' some of these animals who were supposedly extinct but found later, not evolving?
however i will answer yours
because of the location of the species if a rat on one side of the world never has to change because its well adapted to its enviorment but a rat on the other side is facing troubles it evovles and you have a new species

Now, if the rat-squirrel didn't need to evolve...how the hell did it become to be thought of as extinct? Stupid squirrel!

Why the bloody hell has no one asked if this thing was from 11 million years ago, why didn't it evolve a little bit..? I mean, we evolved from 70,000 years ago but this thing didn't in 11 million years? Seems fishy.. Or squirrelly.

Finding an extinct "rat squirrel" is not exactly a big deal....people say...Hey..I wonder what else we thought was extinct is still running around....well...I gotta tell ya...we were not exactly looking for the ever elusive rat squirrel, I'm sure Millions of people had seen that thing and didn't think twice about it....its a freaking squirrel...who cares....they should have just killed it and kept it extinct

This
is a significant find, whatever people say.Hopefully more and more new species will be found and recognized officially by science and the world will be a beeeetter place

Let's not turn the whole thing to "my-grandpa-was-not-a-monkey" thing, though.
