Most paleontologists now believe it was a series of Events that killed the Dinos, First off the environment was changing (climate change and volcanic activity), so this resulted in the decline of many dino species, now thats not to say that the dinosaurs wouldn't have adapted to this change, in fact they had done so in the past (when the fern based plants were overtaken by flowering plants for example), in fact there was some evidence of the adaptation beginning.

However this time the asteroid killed them off before they had the chance to adapt, not only did the impact create massive shockwaves and Tsunamis, but the superheating of the oceans resulted in massive Hypercanes (far faster and larger than any Hurricane in recorded history), and the thing was since the oceans remained overly hot for a long time it spawned a series of hypercanes one after the other, then came the blotting of the sun caused by the debris lauched into the athmosphere, this resulted in a decline in light which killed off many plants and lowered temperatures to freezing levels, this combination over time killed off what was left of the dinosaurs.
